Tom Buscaglia: The Game Attorney deleted?
editThe page was an informational background on my work with and contributions to the computer and video game industry....why was it deleted? No notice? Seems a little harsh to me. If my entry did not meet your standards, it would have been nice if I would have had the opportunity to bring in into compliance...only one of the posts in the delete debate get it right...everyone else just seemed to be focused on the fact that I am a lawyer.
Is there any way that I can resubmit...I read through the deletion log and they were looking at my entry as an attorney self promotion instead of fairly considering my contributions and role in the Video game industry. It seems to me that being a published author, speaking at all main industry conferences for the past 5 years, doing cross over presentations and simulation and training conference for military simulation community, being an elected member of the Board of Directors of the International Game Developers Association and heading both their Foundation and their Quality of Life taskforces as well as having a monthly series of articles on Game Law on the Gamasutra.com web site, the premier game development on-line resource, ought to be enough. My entry was way more than an ad for a lawyer looking for business...what can I do about this?

Recent Delete of lonelygirl15
edithi mailer diablo - you recently deleted the lonelygirl15 article, because the overwhelming concensus was delete in the vote, a position you probably noticed I think is wrong! There are now several articles on Wiki about undeniably less well known YouTube users (some of which have survived deletion votes, I guess because a different crowd was interested at the time) - this would seem to me to expose a bit of a contradiction / double standard in the wiki which can't be good. What could we do about that? Delete the others, and merge some of the info? - If i did that - and put back the lonelygirl15 stuff into a merged article, does that violate guidelines for recreating deleted content? - you thoughts would be appreciated.... cheerio! Recent delete of Jayram Menon
editRecent Delete: The result of delete was presumably due to non-verifiability. The original AfD was initiated by an administrator (Brian/btball) - based the AfD on an erroneous premise on the number of hits that was got through a Google search. However the dispute remained on the verifiability. I am enclosing a scan of a press/news item that was featured in a leading newspaper in India that does acknowledge the notability and verifiability of the individual. This was featured in the 2nd Aug 2005 and the news paper can be contacted for its verifiability. (Verifyability for Jayram Menon]. Its upto the administrators to review the deletion and be fair. deletion of phpmyvisites
editHello you deleted phpMyVisites article because you thought it was a copyright fault http://72.14.235.104/search?q=cache:NatPkIri9IQJ:en.wikipedia.org/wiki/PhpMyVisites+site:http://en.wikipedia.org/+phpmyvisites&hl=en&ct=clnk&cd=1&client=firefox-a I can't understand it was deleted so quickly, it's unbelievable. This wasn't a copyright violation, of course, the text was extracted from the phpMyVisites which is under GFDL license!! This is so incredible... http://en.wikibooks.org/wiki/PhpMyVisites
Please tell me how to back up the phpmyvisites page, as before, and why such a bizarre decision has been taken.
Thank you Matthieu A
- There was no discussion about deleting. In fact, there were no copyright issues with that page whatsoever. Wikipedia does not work that way, this page needs to be restored. DLX 07:47, 21 August 2006 (UTC)

That AfD was a multiple-article Afd, also covering Devon Dawson, the related non-notable musician. So the Dawson article should be deleted, too. Thanks. --John Nagle 20:42, 11 August 2006 (UTC)
Peer Review : Boeing 747
editSure thing, I'll leave the comments here on your talk page. By the way, the tool is in javascript, so adding {{subst:js|User:AndyZ/peerreviewer.js}} to your monobook.js will allow you to do the same.
- Per WP:CONTEXT and WP:MOSDATE, months and days of the week generally should not be linked. Years, decades, and centuries can be linked if they provide context for the article.
- Per WP:MOSNUM, there should be a non-breaking space -
between a number and the unit of measurement. For example, instead of 18mm, use 18 mm, which when you are editing the page, should look like: 18 mm.[1]- Per WP:MOSNUM, when doing conversions, please use standard abbreviations: for example, miles -> mi, kilometers squared -> km², and pounds -> lb.
- Per WP:MOSNUM, please spell out source units of measurements in text; for example, "the Moon is 380,000 kilometres (240,000 mi) from Earth.[2]
- Per WP:CONTEXT and WP:BTW, years with full dates should be linked; for example, link January 15, 2006, but do not link January 2006.[3]
- As per WP:MOSDATE, dates shouldn't use th; for example, instead of using January 30th was a great day, use January 30 was a great day.
- Please alphabetize the interlanguage links.[4]
- There are a few occurrences of weasel words in this article- please observe WP:AWT. Certain phrases should specify exactly who supports, considers, believes, etc., such a view. For example,
- Watch for redundancies that make the article too wordy instead of being crisp and concise. (You may wish to try Tony1's redundancy exercises.)
- Vague terms of size often are unnecessary and redundant - “some”, “a variety/number/majority of”, “several”, “a few”, “many”, “any”, and “all”. For example, “
Allpigs are pink, so we thought ofa number ofways to turn them green.”- Temporal terms like “over the years”, “currently”, “now”, and “from time to time” often are too vague to be useful, but occasionally may be helpful. “I am
nowusing a semi-bot to generate your peer review.”- As is done in WP:FOOTNOTE, for footnotes, the footnote should be located right after the punctuation mark, such that there is no space inbetween. For example, change blah blah [2]. to blah blah.[2]
- Please ensure that the article has gone through a thorough copyediting so that the it exemplifies some of Wikipedia's best work. See also User:Tony1/How to satisfy Criterion 2a. [6]

editHi, I see that you decided to delete this article. I just wondered if you could share the reasons behind that decision. I note that you say it wasn't correctly sourced but I wonder why that merits a delete without having a source tag added for any period of time. Thanks Mallanox 00:10, 13 August 2006 (UTC)
- OK, I accept that it was unverified but not that it was unverifiable. However, I don't know enough about the subject to push the point. Mallanox 00:30, 13 August 2006 (UTC)
- That only raises more questions for me. Searching using Google gives 1740 results. How do you know which of these are verification of what you want to know. And how many hits are enough? Mallanox 00:39, 13 August 2006 (UTC)
- Thanks for your help though I'm disappointed that the article is now completly unverifiable because even if I find evidence, there is nowhere for it to go. Mallanox 01:00, 13 August 2006 (UTC)

Why the removal of the link on the pharmacoviglance article?
Sorry - a bit new here. The link was under the external links page and was to a tool that does pharmacovigilance. I am not sure why it was removed? Thomrossi 02:18, 13 August 2006 (UTC)(Was removed)I noticed that you've twice relisted Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Virtual Digital Cable. I don't know if you had a chance to investigate when you reviewed the discussion, but if you check contribs for all of the "keep" comments, they have all originated from users with few or zero edits outside of that AFD. After all 5 judges have chosen a finalist it's time to award them 1-10 points in the four categories:
- Attractiveness: general layout, considering colour scheme and/or use of tables if applicable
- Usefulness: links to subpages or editing aids, helpful information
- Interesting-ness: quirky, unique, captivating, or funny content
- General niceness: at the judges' discretion
Please see the Scores section on this page for additional information on your job as a judge.

Copyright question
editHi, I see you often deleting the articles I put up in WP:Copyright problems therefore I hope you can help me. User:Yukonjack copied & pasted a lot of material from, he claims, his website to wikipedia. See Talk:The Cascades and Wikipedia:Copyright problems/2006 August 8. He says he has, and I have no reason to doubt that, send an e-mail to permissions and they responsed to him. See here. Long story short, do you know how long it takes for permissons to get back to wikipedia and give the go ahead? He seems like a nice user and he is waiting patiently so far, and I would hate for him that the articles will be deleted. But of course, I also don't want unfree copyrighted material on wikipedia. Cheers, Garion96 (talk) 14:13, 13 August 2006 (UTC)
- Thanks for the response. That's partly what I thought. When he has recieved the confirmation I will ask him to send it to me (to be sure) and will remove the tags. Garion96 (talk) 14:42, 13 August 2006 (UTC)
delete a page
edithello. i wish to re-nominate a page for deletion - Meredith Jung-En Woo. it was nominated once before and i have read the debate on keep or delete. i found the reasons for keeping it to be weak. thus, i submit it be deleted. specifically, she is not, by the academic standards of her field, a prolific or central writer. as an example, the koreanist bruce cumings (to whom she is married) has over 20 books. THAT is noteworthy among academics. next, her accomplishments such as appearing in the new york times are neither exceptionally noteworthy or overly numerous. in brief, she is a very good scholar and has authored some very good works, but nothing about her record makes her exceptional in the field of korean studies. i know of a many other scholars in the field whose records would warrent a page before her.
in short, it seems more of a "vanity" page than a page dedicated to an exceptional scholar whose ideas have reworked or reshaped scholarship in their field. as such, i ask that you reopen the debate to delete the page.
finally, i did not know exactly how to reopen this discussion, so i clicked on the link given on the discussion page, which led me here. thank you. Hongkyongnae 22:45, 13 August 2006 (UTC)
GoKrida AfD relist; browser-based games policy/guidelines
editHave you read my comment on this article's AfD discussion? It's almost torture that there appears to be no consensus! :) Perhaps you'd like to add a comment or vote there yourself; or are you a disinterested party? I could try to encourage the GoKrida participants to add something to the discussion, except this might be seen as meatpuppetry; most of them haven't been logged in anyway when they've contributed in the past to the article or AfD discussions.
Do you have any thoughts on the idea that should be special/different guidelines or policy regarding browser-based games? (Read my comment above the new relist notice, and the pages I linked there, which also have comments from myself on this issue.) B7T 12:36, 14 August 2006 (UTC)
August Esperanza Newsletter

Program Feature: To-Do ListThe Esperanza To-Do List is a place where you may list any request, big or small, for assistance. If you need help with archiving your usertalk, for example, all you need to do is list it here and somebody will help you out. Likewise, if you need help with some area of editing on Wikipedia, list it here! Again, any matter, trivial or not, can be placed on this page. However, all matters listed on this page must not be of an argumentative nature. You do not need to be a member of Esperanza (or this program) to place or fulfill requests on this page. If you don't have any requests, consider coming by and fulfilling a few! This program has not been very active, but has lots of potential! What's New?In order to help proposed programs become specific enough to make into full-fledged programs, the In development section of the proposals page has been created. Proposals that are promising, but need to be organized in more detail are listed here. Please take a look at what is there, and help the proposals turn into programs. To improve both the layout and text of the front page, in an attempt to clarify the image of Esperanza, the front page is going to have some redesigning take place. Please take your creative minds to Wikipedia:Esperanza/Front page redesign to brainstorm good ideas.
- In order to make sure all users who join Esperanza are welcomed, a list of volunteers who are willing to welcome new Esperanzians is at Wikipedia:Esperanza/Members#Esperanza_welcomers. Please add yourself if you are interested; we want to make sure all new Esperanza members are welcomed!
- The In development section of the proposals page has been created.
- Proposals page: Some proposals have been moved to the aforementioned "In development" section, some have been left as a proposal, and others have been archived. For those proposals that were a good idea but didn't necessarily constitute a program, General Esperanzial Actions has been created.
- Two small pieces of charter reform will be decided on in a straw poll at Wikipedia talk:Esperanza/Governance. One involves filling the position of any councillors who may leave, the other involves reforming the charter.
- Until cooperation with the Kindness Campaign is better defined, it remains as a proposed program.
- There is a page for discussing the front page redesign.

Hi,
Lovely day here in Detroit. Hope it's nice where you are. I'm not sure I've got this right, so I've included the post:
16 August 2006Stephen Goodfellow
The posting of this individual ought to be reinstated. A simple search of the web demonstrates the individual has presence and impact on society. (Try searching "Stephen Goodfellow" and "science") or ("Stephen Goodfellow" and "art") or ("Stephen Goodfellow" and "music") or ("Stephen Goodfellow" and "historian"). As to the removal of my article, I strongly object to the cavalier manner in which my research was dismissedby the initial critic. Language use such as 'bollocks' does not set the stage for a reasonable thought process and is an overpowering word that easily sways. It may well be that Mr. Goodfellow is vain, but it does not in any way alter his contributions to society. Please consider reinstating, or if the article deleted, allow reposting. - I disagree. I think that when an article is no longer properly referenced and no longer meets the brilliant prose criteria, that's the right time for a review. Remember that reviews don't automatically lead to removal, they just get input from outside editors who are interested in maintaining high standards for featured articles. There's not much point in going through the featured article process if we don't then maintain that quality. Jkelly 16:32, 18 August 2006 (UTC)

Im requesting a DELETION REVIEW.. and yeah Im pissed off... sorry but this article should be there... (when i first wrote it in May '06 it was one of my first articles, so i didnt know what I was doing but still it should be there) .. some one just started it up again (another user not me) and then it was deleted as I was writing on the article's talk page. Considering the number of articles I've seen which barely assert any claim of notability, it really makes me wonder why this article gets shot down twice. Also I didnt have any knowledge about the debate and WAS NOT INCLUDED in the process... nice going. I mean who are you guys anyway? Why do you even care about an article about a punk house in Iowa. What could possibly be so important that it even warranted a debate/vote? I've seen articles on here that have one line like Honky punk.... I mean if that article can basically go untouched for over a year, than what's the big deal about a NOTABLE DIY VENUE that hosted hundreds of bands, including some that assert huge NOTABILITY???? HUH??? DOes that make any sense??? Xsxex 05:48, 22 August 2006 (UTC)
