Hipparchus article

Your note about Discovery of precession in the Hipparchus article is very much the kind of work that needs to be done on this unwieldy page. I did something similar with Hipparchus On Sizes and Distances, but haven't gotten around to trimming the corresponding section on the Hipparchus page. I'll definitely be following what you do. Im sorry to bother you. But since you have been involved in science history related articles, your neutral stand is urgently needed in the Jabir ibn Hayyan article, regarding his ethnicity. Nearly all reliable sources say that he was an Arab. I listed all sources here: [1].

Medieval astrologers

Well, they should be split if there is an exception. If we make Category:medieval astrologers a subcat of Category:medieval astronomers that would still mean only having one of them on any given article. But does it match the facts? Septentrionalis 18:12, 29 April 2006 (UTC)

Hi

Why do you consider the phrase "the actual sacrifice itself is known as a taurobolium", when the wikipedia page itself confirms that contemporary Roman bull sacrifice was indeed known as a taurobolium? I'm gonna be a devil and restore it, until i get an answer (only because i see this is an alternate account, so there is no guarantee of speed of reply). Yeah no prob - Mithraism was the subject of my A-level coursework for class. civ. I see where you're coming from, possibly it should be couched as "an actual bull sacrifice would be known as a taurobolium" just to link things? I take your point about the confusion however. Philipp Melanchthon Changes

I wish you had at least a slight idea about what you were talking about with Philipp Melanchthon. But I suppose it is important to some people to maintain this idyllistic concept of the endeavors of people in the Medieval / Early Modern period of Europe. If "any" of it were true, quite obviously the world would not be in the place that is now nor has been... But more power to your ignorance and your perpetuation of your ignorance to others...
