Hipparchus article edit

Your note about Discovery of precession in the Hipparchus article is very much the kind of work that needs to be done on this unwieldy page. I did something similar with Hipparchus On Sizes and Distances, but haven't gotten around to trimming the corresponding section on the Hipparchus page. I'll definitely be following what you do. Keep up the good work! --Dantheox 04:06, 28 March 2006 (UTC)Reply

I'm glad somebody got the project started. The new page on distances is great. --Maestlin 00:34, 31 March 2006 (UTC)Reply

Gashtier article edit

Hi - Very nice job finding and pursuing what to do with this article. I see you've followed through with my suggestion to nominate it for deletion (I expect it will be deleted following the mandatory comment period). Keep up the good work! -- Rick Block (talk) 05:18, 31 March 2006 (UTC)Reply

Metal Poll edit

Hello there. I am an overseer of your brain. I have come to tell you that the Wikimetal Project is holding a poll on the inclusion of certain genres on the heavy metal template and footer that goes onto metal related articles. This poll has a closing date, however, and so here i am, reminding you to vote if you want to, by pumping strange chemicals through your veins. Its hard work being a brain you know!

If you would like to help in this crucial part of the project, the page is here. No, thats not it? Oh my! I posted those pictures of myself, what a devil i am. No the actuall link is here on this link.

I guess ill see you at breakfest when you finally recover from Wikipedia. Bye for now body, your Brain 07:06, 13 April 2006 (UTC)Reply

Jabir ibn Hayyan edit

Hi Maestlin!

Im sorry to bother you. But since you have been involved in science history related articles, your neutral stand is urgently needed in the Jabir ibn Hayyan article, regarding his ethnicity. Nearly all reliable sources say that he was an Arab. I listed all sources here: [1].

Thank you! jidan 00:59, 29 April 2006 (UTC)Reply

Medieval astrologers edit

Well, they should be split if there is an exception. If we make Category:medieval astrologers a subcat of Category:medieval astronomers that would still mean only having one of them on any given article. But does it match the facts? Septentrionalis 18:12, 29 April 2006 (UTC)Reply

In reference to Medicine in Ancient Greece edit

Seeing that the sixth vote came a few minutes too late, I took the liberty of nominating the article to Wikipedia:Medicine_Collaboration_of_the_Week. I believe there it will have a better treatment. --Francisco Valverde 15:42, 5 May 2006 (UTC)Reply

Tauroctony edit

Hi

Why do you consider the phrase "the actual sacrifice itself is known as a taurobolium", when the wikipedia page itself confirms that contemporary Roman bull sacrifice was indeed known as a taurobolium? I'm gonna be a devil and restore it, until i get an answer (only because i see this is an alternate account, so there is no guarantee of speed of reply). In the meanwhile, if you have an interest in this sort of thing , have you checked out Portal:Classical Civilisation? Kind Regards. Pydos 09:10, 31 May 2006 (UTC)Reply

Yeah no prob - Mithraism was the subject of my A-level coursework for class. civ. I see where you're coming from, possibly it should be couched as "an actual bull sacrifice would be known as a taurobolium" just to link things? I take your point about the confusion however. Have fun! Pydos 18:56, 1 June 2006 (UTC)Reply

Thanks for the pointer on my talk page regarding Ibn al-Shatir. I accept fully what you say, Perhaps an article, or at least a new defination on the eccentricity page would help. --Richhoncho 05:30, 9 June 2006 (UTC)Reply

Philipp Melanchthon Changes edit

I wish you had at least a slight idea about what you were talking about with Philipp Melanchthon. But I suppose it is important to some people to maintain this idyllistic concept of the endeavors of people in the Medieval / Early Modern period of Europe. If "any" of it were true, quite obviously the world would not be in the place that is now nor has been... But more power to your ignorance and your perpetuation of your ignorance to others... A wonderful pursuit... Stevenmitchell (talk) 00:26, 25 June 2010 (UTC)Reply

ArbCom elections are now open! edit

Hi,
You appear to be eligible to vote in the current Arbitration Committee election. The Arbitration Committee is the panel of editors responsible for conducting the Wikipedia arbitration process. It has the authority to enact binding solutions for disputes between editors, primarily related to serious behavioural issues that the community has been unable to resolve. This includes the ability to impose site bans, topic bans, editing restrictions, and other measures needed to maintain our editing environment. The arbitration policy describes the Committee's roles and responsibilities in greater detail. If you wish to participate, you are welcome to review the candidates' statements and submit your choices on the voting page.
