You said "It's not denial of information, it's denial of baseless accusations", I'm sorry? But I wasn't accusing anyone of anything. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 68.47.26.123 (talkcontribs) .

  • Short answer: I wasn't accusing him. I was talking about how rumours like that don't belong in articles. - Mgm|(talk) 07:09, 18 September 2005 (UTC)Reply
  • So are you accusing me of making up a rumor about a rumor? 68.47.26.123 21:08, 18 September 2005 (UTC)Reply
  • Oh, okay. I see, thanks. That's alright, it doesn't have to be on there.68.47.26.123 21:38, 18 September 2005 (UTC)Reply

Mediation Committe edit

Hi, I'd like to ask you, as being the Mediation Committee's chairman, what's happening with the mediators and why are the requests not being answered. I obviously don't mean that you're responsible of the malfunctioning of the MC, but I'd like an answer. I'm an AMA —as you surely know— and you surely would understand that we need to keep the MC moving! I'm afraid that all requests get withdrawn and lead into a massive exodus to the ArbCom, which has already a lot to do. What do you think? Cheers! --Neigel von Teighen 15:00, 22 September 2005 (UTC)Reply

Re: AFD edit

So, basically, what you are saying to me is that I will never be administrator material here? Or is that jumping to a conclusion way too quickly?  Denelson83  19:04, 24 September 2005 (UTC)Reply

The thing is, I am not an administrator right now, and my recent observations have told me that participation in AFD is a requirement for becoming an admin.  Denelson83  19:27, 24 September 2005 (UTC)Reply

MedCom edit

Hello Mgm, I'm here requesting a closure to the medcom requests for myself (Redwolf24) and Flcelloguy. I have unanimous support, where as he has 4 MC members supporting, 7 non-MC members supporting, and 2 non-MC members opposing. The reason I am requesting you to close is: every active member of the medcom has voted for me, except for Asbestos who became one very recently, and stevertigo... who has an RfAr pending. This isn't the most urgent thing, but I think it needs to be closed. Redwolf24 (talk) 21:30, 24 September 2005 (UTC)Reply

Sam Spade voted oppose on flcelloguy, and someone else wrote 'reservations'. Since Jwrosenzweig wrote 'he respects the two editors opposing' thats why I said that. As for me, I've got unanimous support. And for clarfication I mean WP:MC, not WP:RFM. Redwolf24 (talk) 21:49, 24 September 2005 (UTC)Reply

Chair edit

I know that I am the newest MedCom member, yet I would love to be the chair of the medcom. I saw in your RFMC you asked to be chair about the same time as you asked to become an actual member. I see you are no longer as active. Thus, I wouldn't mind being the new chair, that is if Andre or Ed Poor or Catherine do not want the position. Redwolf24 (talk) 00:37, 25 September 2005 (UTC)Reply

I'd be honored to chair for you. Redwolf24 (talk) 07:03, 25 September 2005 (UTC)Reply

MC edit

Hello, MacGyverMagic! I noticed that you were considering my nomination to join the MC. Disambiguation issues edit

Since you raised it, I feel I should point out that the bit in brackets on an article title I created was necessary for disambiguation. Your thoughts edit

Just wondering if I could get your thoughts on this... Wikipedia:Help desk#Self-referential links. Thanks, Dismas|(talk) 10:53, 27 September 2005 (UTC)Reply

I did not quite follow the latest comment you made on my talk page. I suspect you may be getting confused with the issue of captions, nothing to do with me. Please confirm if this is not the case. PatGallacher 11:49, 27 September 2005 (UTC)Reply

Level 1 Headers edit

I know they're unorthodox, but I wanted all active categories to be placed under the =Active= heading. Otherwise it looks like Active is a specific category for the case, and that its not a categorization. I guess the alternative would be to change all the levell 4 headers for mediations into level 5. But that seems like it'd be more work. Redwolf24 (talk) 22:18, 27 September 2005 (UTC)Reply

why removed the picture edit

your question was: Why did you remove the company logo from the Exact software page? All it needed was a bit of a down-sizing. - Mgm|(talk) 11:57, 28 September 2005 (UTC)

as i am new to wikipedia - i am really fascinated about it - i wanted to check again about copyrights. can i add a company logo at a company arcticle without violating their copyright in any way? and how about external links to interesting articles (at a company homepage, press, ...) which relate - of course not pasting anything, but linking to publicly accessable webpages.

where exactly is the line which shouldnt be crossed ? thx Pollox 13:25, 28 September 2005 (UTC)Reply

MedCom edit

Hello, I'm sending this message out to all users listed as inactive at WP:MC. Some of you have been on leave for quite some time, and I'm hoping one or two of you may return to active (every active editor has a case assigned). I know some of you are busy with other wikimedia stuff, like Angela Anthere and Danny, and some of you are busy with academic stuff, like MacGyverMagic and ClockworkSoul. However I still want to leave this message in the hope of perhaps getting some more of you on hand. It's by no means mandatory though, so don't worry. -Acting Chair, Redwolf24 (talk) 02:00, 3 October 2005 (UTC)Reply

Aha. It's the lower-case "j" that's the problem.

Sidewinder (halo map) edit

Thank you for the note on my talk page. I made a mistake. I meant to say Delete and redirect. I think it would be nice if the useful info could be kept on the Halo page, I am not worried about the edit history. I would also be OK with a simple delete if the consensus is that a redirect is not warranted. I've now updated my vote at AFD. Johntex\talk 14:55, 7 October 2005 (UTC)Reply

Wikipedia:Reference desk/Miscellaneous edit

Re your comment about my linking to the Big Read : In case you didn't know those national polls where done in the United Kingdom. Please remember this is an international project, Majts. When you talk about national things please specify which country you're talking about. Still, it's a good suggestion. User:MacGyverMagic

If you actually read the article Big Read you will realise that there are three different national polls from three countries: The UK, Germany and Hungary which makes your comment look silly. Besides your comment comes across as very patronising. Thanks for your last sentence though, no complaints with that one. Majts 23:41, 8 October 2005 (UTC)Reply

Thankyou for your very gracious reply on my talk page. I completely agree with your beef about the use of the word national and the misunderstanding comes from the fact I was using the word to describe multiple nations. I will try to be clearer in future and I apologise if my complaint seemed petty. Majts 19:07, 9 October 2005 (UTC)Reply

Popup question edit

(copied questions from my User_talk:Lupin)

I just changed my settings to return the missing editing menus I had in my popups following the changes to the script and fixed a mistake in my own style sheet so the admin links show too. However, I've noticed the admin links appear under the page title and the others appear above it. I'd like both menus to be below the page title. Can you change it or make it an option? Please answer on my talk. - Mgm|(talk) 20:07, 9 October 2005 (UTC)Reply

You mean you'd like to do away completely with the separate user menu and have all the links in one long menu? This would not be very hard to do, so please let me know whether or not I've understood what you want. Lupin|talk|popups 23:08, 9 October 2005 (UTC)Reply
  • Also, I tried disambiguating some links pointing to Mummification using the popups, but only got the choice to use the link Mummy when it should also offer me the option Mummification (bondage). Why isn't that option showing up in the popup? - Mgm|(talk) 22:22, 9 October 2005 (UTC)Reply
Odd, I get the choice between Mummification (BDSM), bondage, mummy, preservation. Which browser are you using? I'm not sure if this is relevant or not, but you shouldn't expect "Mummification (bondage)" to appear if the link on the disambig page is piped to give it a different name to its target. Only the real targets of links on the disambig page should appear. Lupin|talk|popups 23:08, 9 October 2005 (UTC)Reply

Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/David Mertz edit

I saw your AfD vote for Simson Garfinkel. While he is of somewhat greater noteriety than I (David Mertz) am, there seems to be a common weird bias against academics/computer writers (but a porn actor or indy band of 1/20th the influence is automatically kept). If you feel like voting, thanks. Lulu of the Lotus-Eaters 17:18, 10 October 2005 (UTC)Reply

Thanks for the support. I have edited the article on me, but contrary to the AfD nomination, it's been lots of little tweaks like wikifying links (IMO, nothing that comes anywhere close to NPOV issues). Indeed I also do not remember any previous contact with you as editor—I just figured the same reasoning you expressed for Simson Garfinkel would pretty much apply to me. FWIW, as notable as Garfinkel is, his article kinda sucks now. Another thing for my to-do list :-(. Lulu of the Lotus-Eaters 17:58, 10 October 2005 (UTC)Reply
