Disambiguation link notification for July 10 edit

Hi. Thank you for your recent edits. An automated process has detected that when you recently edited List of stadiums in Asia, you added a link pointing to the disambiguation page Laguna (check to confirm | fix with Dab solver). Such links are usually incorrect, since a disambiguation page is merely a list of unrelated topics with similar titles. (Read the FAQ • Join us at the DPL WikiProject.)

List of long course swimming pools in the Philippines moved to draftspace edit

An article you recently created, List of long course swimming pools in the Philippines, does not have enough sources and citations as written to remain published. It needs more citations from reliable, independent sources. (?) Information that can't be referenced should be removed (verifiability is of central importance on Wikipedia). I've moved your draft to draftspace (with a prefix of "Draft:" before the article title) where you can incubate the article with minimal disruption. When you feel the article meets Wikipedia's general notability guideline and thus is ready for mainspace, please click on the "Submit your draft for review!" button at the top of the page. Problem with your custom signature edit

You have a custom signature set in your account preferences. A change to Wikipedia's software has made your current custom signature incompatible with the software.

The problem: Your preferences are set to interpret your custom signature as wikitext. However, your current custom signature does not contain any wikitext.

The solutions: You can reset your signature to the default, or you can fix your signature.

Solution 1: Reset your signature to the default:
  1. Find the signature section in the first tab of Special:Preferences.
  2. Uncheck the box (☑︎→☐) that says "Treat the above as wiki markup."
  3. Remove anything in the Signature: text box. (It might already be empty.)
  4. Click the blue "Save" button at the bottom of the page. (The red "Restore all default settings" button will reset all of your preference settings, not just the signature.)
Solution 2: Fix your custom signature:
  1. Find the signature section in the first tab of Special:Preferences.
  2. Uncheck the box (☑︎→☐) that says "Treat the above as wiki markup."
  3. Click the blue "Save" button at the bottom of the page.

More information about custom signatures is available at Wikipedia:Signatures#Customizing how everyone sees your signature. If you have followed these instructions and still want help, please leave a message at Wikipedia talk:Signatures. 19:04, 3 September 2020 (UTC)

Thanks for uploading File:Caraga State University - Cabadbaran Campus logo.png. The image description page currently specifies that the image is non-free and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. However, the image is currently not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the image was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful. However, please note that images for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable for use on Wikipedia (see our policy for non-free media).

Note that any non-free images not used in any articles will be deleted after seven days, as described in section F5 of the criteria for speedy deletion. Thank you. --B-bot (talk) 03:28, 16 December 2020 (UTC)Reply

Thank you edit

Hello Lucky Ambago PurokOtso! Thank you for adding your another image to User:JWilz12345/PHL photos FOP, my compilation of most (if not all) locally-uploaded images of various contemporary or modern architecture and sculptures in the Philippines, under my userspace page. #ShareKoLang po: I purposely created this page in light of a possibility of introduction of freedom of panorama in the Philippines, after the sudden mass deletion requests targetting modern Philippine architecture and sculptures at Wikimedia Commons. Since we don't have FoP in our copyright law (supposedly at Section 184 pertaining to limitations or exceptions to copyright), I collected most locally uploaded images for easy reference and access (to the extent of my browsing efforts here) until FoP is introduced here in the Philippines. Once FoP is introduced here, all those images including yours can finally be transferred to Wikimedia Commons (hopefully that future FoP will cover exterior and interior Philippine architecture, and most 3D artistic works like People Power Monument and Bonifacio Shrine).

A little background about FoP: FoP (the English term of German phrase panoramafreiheit) refers to an exception in copyright laws in several countries which allows the reproductions of various artistic works (usually architecture like huildings and plastic arts like sculptures) found in public places or publicly-accessible places, without the need of authorization or a license from the copyright holders (be it the architects or sculptors, or their heirs if they are already deceased). The reproduction may be in the form of photos, drawings, paintings, or video recordings of those artistic works. In other countries where there are no or incomplete FoP like France (no FoP at all) and Denmark (FoP for buildings only), the copyright holders can sometimes sue people using images of such artistic works for commercial purposes (either post card or calendar prints, or use in stamps and/or commercial T-shirt prints), like the case of Denmark's The Little Mermaid sculpture, which will fall public domain about 75 years after the death of its sculptor in 1959. The sculptor's heirs (his mga apo) are notoriously litigious.

Yes po, it may sound kalokohan because we freely take photos and publish images of copyrighted buildings and sculptures on Facebook and any other online media. Wikimedia Commons, however, strictly adheres to copyright laws of all countries per their "Precautionary Principle", while English Wikipedia (as using English as its home language) only follows U.S. copyright law (kaya po may template na {{FoP-USonly}} for non-U.S. buildings only). For this reason, per a recent (November 2020) reply email to another Pinoy Wikipedian, Higad Rail Fan, the Intellectual Property Office of the Philippines is open for a possible dialogue with Wikimedia Foundation. When will this dialogue happen is yet to be known, however. But hopefully, FoP will be introduced sooner than later. Again, maraming salamat po sa pag-add ng retrato sa User:JWilz12345/PHL photos FOP. :-) JWilz12345 (Talk|Contrib's.) 13:53, 2 January 2021 (UTC)Reply

File:MACAPAGAL BRIDGE, GINGOOG CITY.jpg edit

Hello. Just saw your addition of this image File:MACAPAGAL BRIDGE, GINGOOG CITY.jpg in User:JWilz12345/PHL photos FOP which is in my watchlist. In my opinion, however, it should not cause problems when uploaded at Commons. Because it is simple in design and lacks originality. Hence it cannot be copyrighted. Simple bridges are not copyrightable. Usually, objects like buildings, sculptures, and murals tend to fall among the objects that can be copyrighted. And also the first of "architecturally-special" bridges: Cebu–Cordova Link Expressway and Binondo–Intramuros Bridge.

I'm planning to move this to Commons because the bridge is not copyrighted in the first place (it lacks architectural properties). Though I may need your consent about this. JWilz12345 (Talk|Contrib's.) 02:15, 1 March 2021 (UTC)Reply

File:Seaside Tower, SM Seaside City Cebu.jpg edit

Hello po. I noticed the source of the said file reads "I take it in Cebu City, and upload it on my Wikipedia instead of Commons." If I can interpret correctly, is this because of the lack of freedom of panorama in the Philippines? If so, what if FOP becomes introduced here (soon)? Can I transfer it despite the indicated source? Replaceable fair use File:Lance Busa.jpg edit

Thanks for uploading File:Lance Busa.jpg. I noticed that this file is being used under a claim of fair use. However, I think that the way it is being used fails the first non-free content criterion. This criterion states that files used under claims of fair use may have no free equivalent; in other words, if the file could be adequately covered by a freely-licensed file or by text alone, then it may not be used on Wikipedia. If you believe this file is not replaceable, please:

  1. Go to the file description page and add the text {{Di-replaceable fair use disputed|<your reason>}} below the original replaceable fair use template, replacing <your reason> with a short explanation of why the file is not replaceable.
  2. On the file discussion page, write a full explanation of why you believe the file is not replaceable.

Alternatively, you can also choose to replace this non-free media item by finding freely licensed media of the same subject, requesting that the copyright holder release this (or similar) media under a free license, or by creating new media yourself (for example, by taking your own photograph of the subject).

If you have uploaded other non-free media, consider checking that you have specified how these media fully satisfy our non-free content criteria. You can find a list of description pages you have edited by clicking on this link. Note that even if you follow steps 1 and 2 above, non-free media which could be replaced by freely licensed alternatives will be deleted 2 days after this notification, per the non-free content policy. If you have any questions, please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. Whpq (talk) 10:37, 14 June 2022 (UTC)Reply

File:Panther KF51 Main Battle Tank.jpg edit

I've removed this image from the Panther KF51 article and tagged it as an orphaned fair use image, and a replaceable fair use image. There are many images of this tank available online [1]. Even if every last one of these are copyrighted, non-free it does show that images of this tank can be obtained. Even now, the tank is sitting at the Eurosatory 2022 show, on full display, ready for anyone to take a picture of it [2]. The tank is not an artwork, and as such the idea that an image of it can't be made that could be free licensed does not apply. --Hammersoft (talk) 13:20, 14 June 2022 (UTC)Reply
