January 2019 edit

  Hello, Ltmaloneynyu. We welcome your contributions, but if you have an external relationship with the people, places or things you have written about in the page Laurence T. Maloney, you may have a conflict of interest (COI). Editors with a conflict of interest may be unduly influenced by their connection to the topic. See the conflict of interest guideline and FAQ for organizations for more information. We ask that you:

  • avoid editing or creating articles about yourself, your family, friends, company, organization or competitors;
  • propose changes on the talk pages of affected articles (see the {{request edit}} template);
  • disclose your conflict of interest when discussing affected articles (see WP:DISCLOSE);
  • avoid linking to your organization's website in other articles (see WP:SPAM);
  • do your best to comply with Wikipedia's content policies.

In addition, you must disclose your employer, client, and affiliation with respect to any contribution which forms all or part of work for which you receive, or expect to receive, compensation (see WP:PAID).

Also please note that editing for the purpose of advertising, publicising, or promoting anyone or anything is not permitted. Breaking sticks (talk) 23:36, 13 January 2019 (UTC)Reply

Hello. I am the subject of the article (COI warning). One item in the maintenance template flags a COI. I assume it refers to changes I made. Sorry, I'm new at this.
I have since removed all my contributions to the page.
Could someone update the maintenance template to remove the COI warning?
Thank you.

As you understand now the need to have changes proposed on the talk page, I have removed the COI template. Also, please remember to sign your posts using four tildes (~~~~). Regards,  Spintendo  21:32, 28 January 2019 (UTC)Reply

Ltmaloneynyu, you are invited to the Teahouse! edit

Hello again. I'm writing concerning the page Laurence T. Maloney. That's me and I have a COI. Nevertheless the page is out of date and contains information identified by other editors that should be removed.

I am proposing a new version of the page "Laurence T. Maloney" that removes material that other editors have suggested removing and updates the page. The proposed page lists honors and awards with links to the corresponding wiki page for each honor or award. E.g. The "Guggenheim Fellowship" links to the "Guggenheim Fellowship" wiki page for Guggenheim Fellowship which links to lists of all past Fellows by year. You can find me under 2015 verifying that I am a Guggenheim Fellow. The "Troland Research Award" links to the page "Troland Research Awards" that also list past winners including me.

My categories include "University of Michigan faculty". I am not on the "University of Michigan Faculty". I am on the "New York University Faculty".

AM I doing this correctly? Should I also include external links ....?

Notability: I satisfy Criterion 2 in WP:NPROF because I have a Guggenheim fellowship. I also likely satisfy other criteria in WP:NPROF.

Suggesting edits edit

Thank you for declaring your WP:COI in your edit summary on Draft:Laurence T. Maloney. The draft was declined as that is the avenue to request new pages be created, not updates to existing. You will need to go to Talk:Laurence T. Maloney and request the edits. I see there is already a discussion that was started by Spintendo who is an experienced editor and deals with many COI requests. If you place your requests there, they will respond accordingly. Good luck. --CNMall41 (talk) 00:20, 16 January 2019 (UTC)Reply
