You just need to copy and paste the template from the relevant template, such as the ice hockey player infobox here and write each parameter afterwards as described in the documentation on the template's page. Hi again. I see that you've added "also known as Santa Ana Airport" to the text. Do you have a reference for that? I haven't seen that on any of the sources I frequent. You may want to have a look again at the crteria for reviewing articles at AfC, I'm sure having incorrectly formatted citations isn't a reason to reject an article. I've moved the draft of Andrew Rickman to main article space anyway. No one is seriously going to delete an article about the UK's first internet billionaire who has been recognised for his achievements with an OBE and several honorary doctorates. All the best. Roy Harris

Hi LoudLizard - I'm new to Wikipedia so I'm not sure if I'm doing the right thing here. ;) You posted something about how my new article "Roy Harris (folk singer)" was marked for deletion, but then commented "my bad". Does that mean it's no longer marked for deletion? I'm trying desperately to get a page in place as a memorial for this folk singer who passed away recently. I'm pretty sure he qualifies as "notable" although I'm having trouble finding reliable sources to cite for the page. It keeps changing out from under me, like websites I try to reference suddenly disappear - I wonder if that's because I've been marked as a troublemaker or something, so auto-deletes are happening out from under me? @Lfassman: Sorry, that was my mistake. I should have explained what I did. This page is no longer marked for deletion. Wikipedia has a policy where biographies for living people (BLP) require at least one reliable reference. I mistakenly tagged this article and afterwards removed the tag when I realised I was in error. Thanks for adding some references. @LoudLizard: Ah, thanks for explaining! This is actually a biography of a recently deceased person, not living. I'm noticing that a lot of my references are being auto-deleted and also some edits are vanishing, after I hit the Save button - enough times that I know I'm not just being a space cadet! I would ask at the live chat, since there are quite a few editors that are more experienced than me with MediaWiki (the software Wikipedia is based on). Hi,

I am quite new on Wikipedia and built a page a week ago. There´s a person who seems to decided to destroy the page by editing stupid info for about five times now. What do I do to make it stop? Is it possible to lock his/her account?

I am really sad about this though I have been spending a lot of time learning and doing this page.

Any advice from you? Is it possible to get he ip-address from the usernamne (Grahndad)?

Hello: Thank you so much for the personalized response to my attempt at posting a wiki page - I am not sure how to proceed because my experience in the "Teahouse" confirmed that there is literally a different language being spoken amongst wikicontributors/editors and such and the wiki tutorials remind me of the time I was going to teach myself to speak Lithuanian just by studying the workbook and listening to a tape in Lithuanian! In other words, impossible - for me, at least! I have no experience and, apparently, no aptitude for this wiki page creation however I have promised a friend that I would post this informational page for her.

I see that you offered a suggestion to look for an adopt-a-user mentor..sounds great but I am concerned that I am going to have a similar issue as the one I am having in the Teahouse...i.e. that my questions and confusion are SO basic that the helper can't fathom someone being THAT stupid and they either ignore me or answer a different question, so I am going to go ahead and ask you and maybe you can guide me in a helpful direction once you see my questions....

1) I wrote my page in the editing program wiki offers and in there was a way to create links to other pages that gave more information on the linked name. For example, the "Orpheum Vaudeville" circuit and the names of the different actors that had performed there are all linked to their respective wikipages with more information on them. So, why do I keep getting the reason-for-rejection as not enough references - the article I wrote about the Palace Theatre is chock full of references throughout the body of the article. Granted, most of the references are other wikipages, but they are posted so they must have passed muster.

2) I cannot figure out how to format my page to make it look like a regular Wiki page - titled paragraphs, a little content box with the paragraphs numbered and titled, references in smaller typeface at the end, and a list of eternal links at the very end.

3) What does it mean that my article does not have enough references? What constitutes an acceptable reference?

4) one of the rejecting editors said that I did not prove the historical significance of the theatre - and that made me angry! The very first sentence of my article states that it was the pre-imminent theatre in Los Angeles in the late 1800's and it is the oldest theatre in Los Angeles still extant. The references, other wikipages, refer back to my subject. What needs to be said to acceptably establish importance?

5) How do I add a photograph to the article?

@BeatrixZ:Hi Beatrix. Sorry I haven't replied to you before now, I have been travelling for a bit. I'll try my best to answer your questions.
1. To create a link to another article in the text editor, you can either type it out like this: [[Article to be linked|text to appear on the page]] which will display as follows: text to appear on the page.
Unfortunately Wikipedia doesn't allow so-called "circular referencing" (i.e. referencing other Wikipedia articles), so references to other Wikipedia pages do not help to determine that the subject is notable.
2. A good place to look for information about formatting is the Manual of Style. If you are looking for a quick guide to the syntax to use, see the cheatsheet, which is very useful at covering the basic formatting.
3. References are needed to verify the legitimacy of content. Wikipedia's verifiability policy requires citations for any material likely to be challenged. Reliable sources should be third-party, published sources with a reputation for fact-checking and accuracy. Source material must have been published, the definition of which for our purposes is "made available to the public in some form". Unpublished materials are not considered reliable. For more information on identifying reliable sources, please refer to this page.
4. I'm sorry to hear that this frustrated you. From what you have said, it does seem to me that this is an important subject. Essentially, for a subject to warrant its own article, it needs to notable. This means that it "has received significant coverage in reliable sources that are independent of the subject". This means that you need to have several references to reliable third-party sources. This does not include references to other Wikipedia articles.
5. To add an image to an article, you need to first upload it to Wikipedia. You can do so by following the steps of the file upload wizard. Please ensure that you have the correct license to use the image before uploading it, in line with Wikipedia's image use policy. Then you can insert it into the article using the following syntax:
[[File:filename.png|thumb|left|alt=Alternate text if the image fails to load|Caption]]

HELP!!!!!

Hi Loud Lizard - you responded to my rejected re the Palace Theatre article with a alot of helpful suggestions however I am completely unable to navigate wiki pages...i.e. - I look at the different people offering to adopt new "editors" - when I hit one (two , three, many) that is available to adopt, I go to talk page that has varying numbers of things written but nowhere does it say how to communicate on this talk page. I click all over...nothing happens. How do I talk to someone on their talk page? You have made it very easy on your talk page by providing a very clear link - I have yet to find an adopter doing the same thing and as an wiki outsider...there is NOTHING intuitive to how wiki editing is presented or used..sorry to sound so desperate but I am!

@BeatrixZ: Hi Again. No worries, it's fine - everyone started somewhere and I can assure you most editors found the editor difficult to use when they started! Talk pages essentially work like any other Wikipedia page - they are quite simple in the sense that they don't work like a forum with reply buttons, but you just edit the page to add your responses. The easiest way to leave a message is to navigate to a user's page, click on "new section" in the top right-hand corner next to the "heart" symbol. This will open a new page, which will ask you to enter a subject and the body of your message and is what I have made a link to on the top of my page to make it easy for new editors. Alternatively, you can click on "Edit source", scroll to the bottom of the content and add a message using the following format:
==Subject of message==
Your message here ~~~~


This is also how you reply to an existing thread, but there is no need to put the subject again - you just write your message underneath the other person's response. And then pressing "Save page" at the bottom. Lastly, ensure you leave your signature by putting four tildes at the end of your message like so: ~~~~

Then a screen called Transclusion appears (a new word for me, and yet it is a word), but clicking on it goes to an infinite loop (OK, I don't know that it's infinite, but it lasts a long time).
