A few questions about your account

edit

I note that you have only made a few contributions, exclusively to the biography of Jeffrey Alfred Legum. I note also that this biography has been heavily edited by LZorn (talk · contribs · deleted contribs · logs · filter log · block user · block log), a name that is strikingly similar to yours. First, I would point out Wikipedia's guidelines about multiple user names. In the present case, I'm going to assume that you lost the password to the original account and created a new account. If this is the case, you should, at the very least, make a note of your prior username on your current user page.

Secondly, I note that between this account and the prior account, you have edited exclusively on one page: Mr Legum's aforementioned biography. For this reason, I assume that you are working with Mr Legum (the only other significant contributor to this article) to create and polish his Wikipedia biography. If you are personally associated with Mr Legum, this constitutes a conflict of interest that must be declared at Wikipedia. If you are being paid for your contributions, this raises an even higher obligation to disclose this fact.

Please keep these issues in mind as you continue editing at Wikipedia. WikiDan61ChatMe!ReadMe!! 16:54, 5 March 2021 (UTC)Reply

Conflict of interest

edit

  Hello, Llzorn. We welcome your contributions, but if you have an external relationship with the people, places or things you have written about in the page Jeffrey Alfred Legum, you may have a conflict of interest (COI). Editors with a conflict of interest may be unduly influenced by their connection to the topic. See the conflict of interest guideline and FAQ for organizations for more information. We ask that you:

  • avoid editing or creating articles about yourself, your family, friends, colleagues, company, organization or competitors;
  • propose changes on the talk pages of affected articles (you can use the {{request edit}} template);
  • disclose your conflict of interest when discussing affected articles (see Wikipedia:Conflict of interest#How to disclose a COI);
  • avoid linking to your organization's website in other articles (see WP:Spam);
  • do your best to comply with Wikipedia's content policies.

In addition, you are required by the Wikimedia Foundation's terms of use to disclose your employer, client, and affiliation with respect to any contribution which forms all or part of work for which you receive, or expect to receive, compensation. See Wikipedia:Paid-contribution disclosure.

Also, editing for the purpose of advertising, publicising, or promoting anyone or anything is not permitted. Thank you. WikiDan61ChatMe!ReadMe!! 17:53, 10 March 2021 (UTC)Reply

Edit summaries

edit

Your editing at Jeffrey Alfred Legum would be much easier to understand if you would use the edit summary feature to explain each edit. When you remove sourced material without explanation, it is hard to understand why. WikiDan61ChatMe!ReadMe!! 18:24, 10 March 2021 (UTC)Reply

Notice of Conflict of interest noticeboard discussion

edit

  There is currently a discussion at Wikipedia:Conflict of interest/Noticeboard regarding a possible conflict of interest incident with which you may be involved. The thread is Jeffrey Alfred Legum. The discussion is about the topic Jeffrey Alfred Legum. Thank you. —WikiDan61ChatMe!ReadMe!! 21:07, 10 March 2021 (UTC)Reply

@WikiDan61: There is no conflict of interest and no standards have been set as of now. If you go to the edit source page, there are over 30 edits from other people besides myself. Also, how many searches a month refer to the Wikipedia list for Jeffrey Legum?— Preceding unsigned comment added by Llzorn (talkcontribs)
This is not the venue to answer this issue. You must now discuss the matter at the Conflict of Interest noticeboard. The issue at hand is not whether or not Legum is a legitimate Wikipedia biographical topic; the question at hand is your behavior in editing the article to make it more laudatory than neutrality would allow, and the fact that your sole purpose at Wikipedia seems to be to burnish Mr Legum's image. Please repond at the notice board, not here. WikiDan61ChatMe!ReadMe!! 21:33, 10 March 2021 (UTC)Reply
I was employed by Jeffrey Legum, but I now live in Florida on a full time basis. I have been adding parts of his biography on Wikipedia that I felt were important to note.— Preceding unsigned comment added by Llzorn (talkcontribs)
Thanks. Are you still in contact with him? Are you being paid for these edits? Regardless, you have a clear COI and should not be editing the article directly. Use the talk page instead to request changes.--- Possibly (talk) 21:56, 11 March 2021 (UTC)Reply

As previously advised, your edits, such as the edit you made to Jeffrey Alfred Legum, give the impression you have a financial stake in promoting a topic, but you have not complied with Wikipedia's mandatory paid editing disclosure requirements. You were asked to cease editing until you responded by either stating that you are not being directly or indirectly compensated for your edits, or by complying with the mandatory requirements under the Wikimedia Terms of Use that you disclose your employer, client and affiliation. Again, you can post such a disclosure on your user page at User:Llzorn, and the template {{Paid}} can be used for this purpose – e.g. in the form: {{paid|user=Llzorn|employer=InsertName|client=InsertName}}. Please respond before making any other edits to Wikipedia. --- Possibly (talk) 19:17, 11 March 2021 (UTC)Reply
