Mentor edit

Hi, have you found a mentor yet? I would be happy to adopt you. Please leave a note on my talk page if you are interested. Graham. Graham Colm Talk 19:18, 21 November 2008 (UTC)Reply

Hi, thanks for replying so quickly. With regard to your problem with references, do you know how to use PubMed and the quick way of inserting Wikipedia style references form PubMed into your article?

Here is the result of a quick PubMed Search:

1: Kandulski A, Selgrad M, Malfertheiner P. Helicobacter pylori infection: a clinical overview. Dig Liver Dis. 2008 Aug;40(8):619-26. Epub 2008 Apr 18. Review. PMID: 18396114 ]

2: Malaty HM. Epidemiology of Helicobacter pylori infection. Best Pract Res Clin Gastroenterol. 2007;21(2):205-14. Review. PMID: 17382273

3: Srivastava A, Lauwers GY. Pathology of non-infective gastritis. Histopathology. 2007 Jan;50(1):15-29. Review. PMID: 17204018

4: Franke A, Teyssen S, Singer MV. Alcohol-related diseases of the esophagus and stomach. Dig Dis. 2005;23(3-4):204-13. Review. PMID: 16508284

5: Peek RM Jr. Pathogenesis of Helicobacter pylori infection. Springer Semin Immunopathol. 2005 Sep;27(2):197-215. Epub 2005 Jun 1. Review. PMID: 15928915

6: Kato S, Sherman PM. What is new related to Helicobacter pylori infection in children and teenagers? Arch Pediatr Adolesc Med. 2005 May;159(5):415-21. Review. PMID: 15867113

7: Husebye E. The pathogenesis of gastrointestinal bacterial overgrowth. Chemotherapy. 2005;51 Suppl 1:1-22. Review. PMID: 15855746

8: Kashiwagi H. Ulcers and gastritis. Endoscopy. 2005 Feb;37(2):110-5. Review. PMID: 15692925

9: Rubesin SE, Furth EE, Levine MS. Gastritis from NSAIDS to Helicobacter pylori. Abdom Imaging. 2005 Mar-Apr;30(2):142-59. Review. PMID: 15654579

The PubMed number, (for example from reference number 9 PMID:15654579) can be used here [1] to get this:

<ref name="pmid15654579">{{cite journal | author = Rubesin SE, Furth EE, Levine MS | title = Gastritis from NSAIDS to Helicobacter pylori | journal = Abdom Imaging | volume = 30 | issue = 2 | pages = 142–59 | year = 2005 | pmid = 15654579 | doi = 10.1007/s00261-004-0210-7 | url = http://dx.doi.org/10.1007/s00261-004-0210-7 | issn = | accessdate = 2008-11-21 }}</ref>

which you can then paste into your article. PubMed is here: [2]. For medical articles Wikipedia prefers references from here because there is no doubt about the reliability. These are infinitely better than website articles which often are very unreliable. Using "Gastritis" as the search word in PubMed brings up thousands of articles. But remember, review articles are often better than original, (primary sources), papers. There is a Tab for selecting only review articles on the PubMed screen. Let's see how you get on. Best wishes, Graham. Graham Colm Talk 22:00, 21 November 2008 (UTC)Reply
