Welcome to Wikipedia!

Hello, Legalthis2. Welcome to Wikipedia! I noticed you've just joined, and wanted to give you a few tips to get you started.

  • You don't need to read anything - anybody can edit on wikipedia, so, if you like, just go to an article and edit it. Be Bold, and ignore all rules, but please don't put silly stuff in - it will be removed very quickly, and will annoy people.
  • I suggest that you try to improve a few articles first, before you make your own. Maybe look at some subjects that you know about, and see if you can make them a bit better.
  • When you're ready, read about Your first article. It should be about something well-known, and it will need references.
  • If you need help, please ask! Edit this page, put {{helpme}} and describe what help you need. Someone will reply very quickly - usually within a few minutes.

Good luck with editing; please drop me a line some time on my own talk page.

If you want to know more, there's lots of information below. Once again, welcome to the fantastic world of wikipedia!

how do I make it noted on an article that info need external references? See what I did on the Gilman School article and if I should have done this in a better way?

Hi there,

No, that's not really a good way to do it.

If there's lots, like this, then put {{refimprove}} at the very top. That will add a template notice.

If it's one or two facts within the article, put {{fact}} in the sentence. That will look like this.[citation needed]

Hope that helps?

Re. multiple accounts

edit

Hi there,

I've just answered the question you put on the User talk:Legalthis page.

I'm slightly puzzled; why do you have the 2 logins? I only ask because wikipedia is quite careful about users with multiple accounts; see WP:MULTIPLE.

Thanks, --  Chzz  ►  03:20, 20 March 2009 (UTC)Reply

I forgot the password to the first one.

I thought that might be the case :-) No problem. I will copy the talk page into here and I will redirect the old user and talk pages to here.
Please do not use User:Legalthis again, even if you do remember the password.
I know this might sound like a lot of trouble, but we have so many problems with users pretending to be other people, etc. (See WP:SOCK). In future, if you forget your password, please go to the login screen and use the 'email me a new password' button.
Thanks for your cooperation, --  Chzz  ►  04:59, 20 March 2009 (UTC)Reply

Signatures

edit

Hello. In case you didn't know, when you add content to talk pages and Wikipedia pages that have open discussion, you should sign your posts by typing four tildes ( ~~~~ ) at the end of your comment. You may also click on the signature button   located above the edit window. This will automatically insert a signature with your username or IP address and the time you posted the comment. This information is useful because other editors will be able to tell who said what, and when. Thank you.

Speedy deletion of Childs Walker

edit

A tag has been placed on Childs Walker requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section A7 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the article appears to be about a person or group of people, but it does not indicate how or why the subject is important or significant: that is, why an article about that subject should be included in an encyclopedia. Under the criteria for speedy deletion, such articles may be deleted at any time. Please see the guidelines for what is generally accepted as notable, as well as our subject-specific notability guideline for biographies.

If you think that this notice was placed here in error, you may contest the deletion by adding {{hangon}} to the top of the page that has been nominated for deletion (just below the existing speedy deletion or "db" tag), coupled with adding a note on the talk page explaining your position, but be aware that once tagged for speedy deletion, if the page meets the criterion it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but don't hesitate to add information to the page that would render it more in conformance with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. Lastly, please note that if the page does get deleted, you can contact one of these admins to request that they userfy the page or have a copy emailed to you. –Drilnoth (TC) 17:40, 20 March 2009 (UTC)Reply

Checking in

edit

Hi again, I just wondered how you were getting along. I notice the 'speedy deletion' - don't worry too much about such things; nothing is ever irrevocable. If you're having problems, put a message on your talk page. Good luck with everything, hope we speak soon. --  Chzz  ►  02:34, 22 March 2009 (UTC)Reply
