Your upload at the Commons edit

Regarding File:Admiral Edward Middleton.jpg, can you please edit the image description page at the Commons for this file to show the actual source (where you obtained it) and the actual author? You are not the "author", and this is not your "own work" (unless you're at a minimum around 180 years old). You no more become an author by uploading something, than you do the painter of a painting by photographing it or the writer of a book by owning a copy. The fact that it was taken prior to 1896, which has to be true based upon the date of death of the individual depicted, make it certain it is in the public domain, which is all that saves it from deletion, based upon these (I'm sure unintentional, but nevertheless) false upload details. If you don't know who photographed it, then the author is "unknown", which is perfectly fine.--Fuhghettaboutit (talk) 23:02, 7 July 2017 (UTC)Reply
