Speedy deletion nomination of Babel (magazine)

edit

A tag has been placed on your user page, Babel (magazine), requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section G11 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the page appears to be blatant advertising which only promotes or publicises a company, product, group or service, and which is a violation of our policies regarding acceptable use of user pages; user pages are intended for active editors of Wikipedia to communicate with one another as part of the process of creating encyclopedic content, and should not be mistaken for free webhosting resources. Please read the guidelines on spam, the guidelines on user pages, and, especially, our FAQ for Organizations.

If you think this page should not be deleted for this reason, you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and clicking the button labelled "Contest this speedy deletion". This will give you the opportunity to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. However, be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be removed without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag from the page yourself, but do not hesitate to add information in line with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. If the page is deleted, and you wish to retrieve the deleted material for future reference or improvement, then please contact the deleting administrator. Academic journals

edit

Hi and thank you for your contributions – wikipedia definitely needs people like you. I think it might be a good idea to have a look at WP:NJOURNAL, the guidelines about inclusion of articles on academic journals. – Uanfala (talk) 20:14, 22 March 2017 (UTC)Reply

Hello and thanks. It is not an academic journal, though, but rather a magazine for language enthusiasts. Like "New Scientist" or "National Geographic" for languages. Latikaakital (talk) 20:26, 22 March 2017 (UTC)Reply
I see. In that case the relevant inclusion guideline, which I still recommend having a look at, is WP:NMAG. – Uanfala (talk) 20:39, 22 March 2017 (UTC)Reply

Speedy deletion nomination of Babel (magazine)

edit

If this is the first article that you have created, you may want to read the guide to writing your first article.

You may want to consider using the Article Wizard to help you create articles.

A tag has been placed on Babel (magazine) requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section A7 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the article appears to be about a person, a group of people, an individual animal, an organization (band, club, company, etc.), web content, or an organized event, but it does not credibly indicate how or why the subject is important or significant: that is, why an article about that subject should be included in an encyclopedia. Under the criteria for speedy deletion, such articles may be deleted at any time. Please read more about what is generally accepted as notable.

@Latikaakital: @Uanfala: : I believe Babel magazine shows no indication of importance. If you think differently you may contest my deletion proposal, Thanks Jone Rohne Nester (talk) 20:36, 22 March 2017 (UTC)Reply

Jone Rohne Nester, if you believe an article shows no indication of importance, you can take it to WP:AFD (there's related speedy criterion WP:A6 which is not applicable here). If a speedy deletion is declined, it's generally disruptive to propose it again. There's no need to ping users when you leave them a message, as they already get notified about any edits to their user talk page. On a general note, I'd suggest gaining some experience of contributing to wikipedia before going into the business of deletion. – Uanfala (talk) 20:49, 22 March 2017 (UTC)Reply
