London Fire Brigade edit

Hello, you edited London Fire Brigade to say that it is fifth-largest fire and rescue service in the world (instead of the fourth-largest). Do you have a source for this information? Who is now the fourth-largest (to make the rest of the sentence consistent)? cannywizard (talk) 15:51, 6 January 2017 (UTC)Reply

The sentence directly above it says that it is the second largest department in the UK, after the National Scottish Fire and Rescue Service. I didn't have a source for the initial edit, and was simply following the logic that being smaller than the SFRS would make the LFB #5 to SFRS' #4.

Looking into it further just now, the page for the Scottish Fire and Rescue Service includes the following sentence: "It therefore became the largest fire service in the United Kingdom and the fourth-largest in the world, surpassing the London Fire Brigade.", and cites [1] as a source. However, navigating to that page doesn't show the information claimed, and in fact still lists LFB as the largest fire service in the UK. Some quick googling was unable to confirm the size of either London's or Scotland's fire services, so I'm not sure where the claim present on both service's articles about SFRS being bigger came from.

My initial edit was simply a quick, good-faith correction of what I saw as a contradiction that I came across while reading the article. If you'd like to do the necessary legwork to figure out which service is larger, and edit and cite the articles accordingly, then by all means, go for it. At the risk of sounding lazy and/or rude, it's honestly more work than I'm personally interested in doing. Best of luck! Kjacket0 (talk) 23:28, 6 January 2017 (UTC)Reply

Humm, OK, I was just asking in case you had some info. Someone else seems to have reverted your edit in the meantime, anyway cannywizard (talk) 15:22, 9 January 2017 (UTC)Reply
