Proposed deletion of Adama Keita edit

A proposed deletion template has been added to the article Adama Keita, suggesting that it be deleted according to the proposed deletion process because of the following concern:

Likely to be a hoax. Google for "Adama Keita" "Africa Sports" produces no relevant hits.

All contributions are appreciated, but this article may not satisfy Wikipedia's criteria for inclusion, and the deletion notice should explain why (see also "What Wikipedia is not" and Wikipedia's deletion policy). You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{dated prod}} notice, but please explain why you disagree with the proposed deletion in your edit summary or on its talk page.

Please consider improving the article to address the issues raised because, even though removing the deletion notice will prevent deletion through the proposed deletion process, the article may still be deleted if it matches any of the speedy deletion criteria or it can be sent to Articles for Deletion, where it may be deleted if consensus to delete is reached. Kimchi.sg (talk) 23:15, 18 April 2009 (UTC)Reply

First, the Adama Keita page is not "your user page" because you have moved it to the new title which no longer starts with "User:". Articles can be edited by anyone, not just the creator.

If the only way to check this footballer really exists is to call the club, then he is non-notable and we should not have an article about him. Unless you add sources into the article within a few days, I will nominate it for deletion. Kimchi.sg (talk) 01:13, 20 April 2009 (UTC)Reply

AfD Nomination: Adama Keita edit

Hello, and welcome to Wikipedia! We welcome and appreciate your contributions, but all Wikipedia articles must meet our criteria for inclusion (see What Wikipedia is not and Deletion policy). Since it does not seem that Adama Keita meets these criteria, an editor has started a discussion about whether this article should be kept or deleted.

Your opinion on whether this article meets the inclusion criteria is welcome. Please contribute to the discussion by adding your comments at Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Adama Keita. Don't forget to add four tildes (~~~~) at the end of each of your comments to sign them.

Discussions such as these usually last seven days. In the meantime, you are free to edit the content of the article. Please do not remove the "articles for deletion" template (the box at the top). When the discussion has concluded, a neutral third party will consider all comments and decide whether or not to delete the article. Kimchi.sg (talk) 01:40, 20 April 2009 (UTC)Reply

If it was on the club website then Google would have found it. Google does not search only Wikipedia pages. The lack of any other pages on the web that even mention this person is an indicator that he is non-notable. Kimchi.sg (talk) 01:47, 20 April 2009 (UTC)Reply

my article meets the general notability guidelines of people which states that the person doesn't have to be famous as long that i have a realiable source for my info and my reliable sources are the clubs that he ahs played for. For example my biogaphical person has a cousin named "Abdul kader keita" that currently plays for the french ligue "Lyon" who also played for "Africa Sports". Although he is famous if you search for him and "Africa Sports" it doesn't show him on the Africa sport website just reference from other website that he played for them. anyways my point is that. all i am trying to do is show that he is part of a footballing family like the toure brothers.

"my reliable sources are the clubs" - really? What have they published (written on paper or online) that mention this player? On Wikipedia when we say sources, we require them to be published sources. Without published sources that mention this person, you might as well say "Keita Adama is a Martian who communicates regularly with UFOs" and no one would be able to double-check whether the statement is correct or not. Again: We require two or more published sources that mention this person's details. Saying "the club told me" sounds nice, but it is not an acceoptable source. Your edits to Wikipedia:Requests for arbitration edit

Hi there. I have undone your edits to Wikipedia:Requests for arbitration for the following reason: Request for arbitration is a venue in the last step of dispute resolution and completely unfit to deal with your complaint. King of Hearts (talk · contribs) deleted Adama Keita correctly within our deletion policy as a result of a community discussion at Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Adama Keita. If you disagree with the consensus, you should first contact King of Hearts personally and if this does not help, you can request a deletion review. There is no need for arbitration in this case and it would have not helped you a single bit with your complain. Regards SoWhy 20:40, 29 April 2009 (UTC)Reply

Second warning; do not post such requests at Wikipedia:Requests for arbitration. Your article was deleted because there was not evidence whatsoever that the subject was notable. As SoWhy noted above, there are other appropriate venues for pursuing this; arbitration is not one of them. OhNoitsJamie Talk 21:05, 29 April 2009 (UTC)Reply

User:Keitaadama/Adama Keita edit

Ok, at your request I have restored this page here to see if it can be improved. I have done this on the hope that you can follow guidelines and find some references please. returning it to the wikipedia article space will result in quick re-deletion unless some sources can be found indicating notability. Are there books on African or Ivory Coast football? Good luck. Casliber (talk · contribs) 20:47, 29 April 2009 (UTC)Reply

Yes, books are good, and highly preferable to non-official webpages. Have a look at Wikipedia:Reliable sources. If you have books, provide as much information as possible about the book - see Wikipedia:Citing sources. You'll need the subject mentioned significnatly in at least two sources. Playing for your country is an inclusion criteria. Good luck. Casliber (talk · contribs) 20:57, 29 April 2009 (UTC)Reply
