Muffin top

edit

I see that you object to the picture on Muffin top on that the article is not about Muffin pastry. Merging Muffin top with the latter's article would address this problem, and would stimulate cross-discipline scholarship. Just kidding. Fair call. Rintrah 07:17, 6 December 2006 (UTC)Reply

Thanks for the archiving suggestion. I think, however, I will leave my talk page as it is, so I have a warm feeling from an exaggarated idea of how many wikipedia friends I have. If I archive it, my wikipedia friends disappear in the archive. The greatest thing about wikipedia is that there are people who will help me if I ask. :-) Rintrah 15:17, 6 December 2006 (UTC)Reply

Ok. You are included in my friend list. I like your talk page formatting. Rintrah 01:53, 7 December 2006 (UTC)Reply

Can you provide a link to the picture? Wikipedia:Copyrights#Image guidelines sets out some of the guidelines in relation to copyright and free licence images. If you are unsure about copyright, you can probably find out at the help desk. I am afraid I do not know much about copyright and licence protection, but if I can help, I will. Oh, and welcome to the League of Copyeditors! Rintrah 13:58, 7 December 2006 (UTC)Reply

This might be what you are looking for: |Michael Jordan photo (site states the photo is believed to be in the public domain). Rintrah 14:07, 7 December 2006 (UTC)Reply

A lucky guess. I don't know whether those images would be permitted. You could probably ask the people who are complaining about copyright whether they are satisifed, or ask at the help desk. Rintrah 00:38, 8 December 2006 (UTC)Reply

Dumbledore

edit

Differences: simple. OotP: Dumbledore claims Trelawney started prophecising. Unbeknown to him, a Death Eater is lurking outside the door. However, the bartender catches the Death Eater outside the door before the entire prophecy is heard, and chucks the DE out. Voldemort thus hears the first half, not the second half. HBP: Trelawney comes to, having prophecised. THEN, Severus Snape is thrust into the room by the bartender (whom Rowling has revealed in interview to be Dumbledore's brother). Since this only began after the prophecy was completed, the complete prophecy has been heard. Furthermore, the DE has not been chucked out, but (sensibly) brought before Dumbledore for him to deal with.

Plain fact tells us this much. A bit of common sense suggests: OotP: we presume that the Bartender is suspicious, certainly not a Dumbledore ally. Therefore, he had no reason to cause more trouble by dragging the DE before Dumbledore, merely got rid of him. We assume that by the time Dum. discovered the spying it was too late, and he could do nothing except damage control. HBP: Dumbledore had Snape right in front of him, guarded by Aberforth (Dum's loyal brother). There is no way Dumbledore could not have done something, or stopped Snape. It is not necessarily evidence of Snape's loyalties; however, it is impossible to explain what happened, except that Dumbledore deliberately let the Prophecy loose (either memory charming him or using him as a loyal ally).

The second section is OR. The first is plain fact. Michaelsanders 12:22, 23 December 2006 (UTC)Reply

Very bold of michael to claim the second as original. It is by now well discussed on many websites. It is possible to explain the discrepancies. Dumbledore did not want to cause trouble by telling Harry that Snape was involved, so might have deliberately adjusted the story not to mention him. Or, he might just have been making the story simpler because a full re-telling was not necessary. Snape and Aberforth might have been scuffling on the stairs for some time, and thus Snape missed the last part of the prophecy. However, it is generally considered that the discrepancies are significant as michael says. Sandpiper 13:18, 31 December 2006 (UTC)Reply

Re: List of traditional filipino games

edit

Hi.. i need to change the title as the word 'traditional' is spelled incorrectly, could you help me? thanks! katZ 03 00:14, 28 December 2006 (UTC)Reply

Not a problem. At the top of the article page, you will see a Move option. You can simply click on that link, and the new page will give you the option to move the article to a new title. You can correct the spelling mistake in this fashion. The resulting move will turn the old title into a redirect to the new article, which is not an issue. Hope this helps. HI there,

I have removed the Adopt-a-user userboxes from your talk page, because you have been largely inactive for the last two months, and you do not meet the guideline criteria laid out here Wikipedia:Adopt-a-User/Adopter's Area. If you get more involved in Wikipedia in future I hope you will consider WP:ADOPT again. Cheers Lethaniol 11:33, 7 March 2007 (UTC)Reply

Unspecified source for Image:5500 main.jpeg

edit

Thanks for uploading Image:5500 main.jpeg. I noticed that the file's description page currently doesn't specify who created the content, so the copyright status is unclear. If you did not create this file yourself, then you will need to specify the owner of the copyright. If you obtained it from a website, then a link to the website from which it was taken, together with a restatement of that website's terms of use of its content, is usually sufficient information. However, if the copyright holder is different from the website's publisher, then their copyright should also be acknowledged.

As well as adding the source, please add a proper copyright licensing tag if the file doesn't have one already. If you created/took the picture, audio, or video then the {{GFDL-self-no-disclaimers}} tag can be used to release it under the GFDL. If you believe the media meets the criteria at Wikipedia:Fair use, use a tag such as {{non-free fair use in|article name}} or one of the other tags listed at Wikipedia:Image copyright tags#Fair use. See Wikipedia:Image copyright tags for the full list of copyright tags that you can use.

If you have uploaded other files, consider checking that you have specified their source and tagged them, too. You can find a list of files you have uploaded by following this link. Unsourced and untagged images may be deleted one week after they have been tagged, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If the image is copyrighted under a non-free license (per Wikipedia:Fair use) then the image will be deleted 48 hours after 11:13, 11 May 2007 (UTC). If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. Liftarn 11:13, 11 May 2007 (UTC)Reply

Greetings from the League of Copyeditors. Your name is listed on our members page, but we are unsure how many of the people listed there are still active contributors to the League's activities. If you are still interested in participating in the work of the League, please follow the instructions at the members page to add your name to the active members list. Once you have done that, you might want to familiarise yourself with the new requests system, which has replaced the old /proofreading subpage. As the old system is now deprecated, the main efforts of the League should be to clear the substantial backlog which still exists there.
The League's services are in as high demand as ever, as evinced by the increasing backlog on our requests pages, both old and new. While FA and GA reviewers regularly praise the League's contributions to reviewed articles, we remain perennially understaffed. Fulfilling requests to polish the prose of Wikipedia's highest-profile articles is a way that editors can make a very noticeable difference to the appearance of the encyclopedia. On behalf of the League, if you do consider yourself to have left, I hope you will consider rejoining; if you consider yourself inactive, I hope you will consider returning to respond to just one request per week, or as many as you can manage. Merry Christmas and happy editing, The League of Copyeditors.

Another editor has added the "{{prod}}" template to the article Bob Ong, suggesting that it be deleted according to the proposed deletion process. All contributions are appreciated, but the editor doesn't believe it satisfies Wikipedia's criteria for inclusion, and has explained why in the article (see also Wikipedia:What Wikipedia is not and Wikipedia:Notability). Please either work to improve the article if the topic is worthy of inclusion in Wikipedia or discuss the relevant issues at its talk page. If you remove the {{prod}} template, the article will not be deleted, but note that it may still be sent to Wikipedia:Articles for deletion, where it may be deleted if consensus to delete is reached. edit

Hello there. As you've probably noticed, I've removed the fake "new messages" bar from the top of your page. This is because our guideline on simulated interface messages in userpages states that this is generally found to be disruptive, and cases of their use should be removed except when they are used in testing. If you have any questions, please feel free to contact me, however please do not re-add the bar. Thank you! Happy editing. Hersfold (t/a/c) 22:23, 26 October 2008 (UTC)Reply

Proposed blackout in protest of RA 10175

edit

Dear Kathzzzz,

Greetings!

As a Filipino Wikipedian, I hope you are aware of the passage of Republic Act No. 10175, also known as the Cybercrime Prevention Act of 2012, which was signed into law by President Benigno Aquino III on September 12, 2012. Currently, there is a discussion on the Tambayan, the noticeboard for Philippines-related topics, about a proposed blackout of the English Wikipedia in the Philippines in order to protest the passage of RA 10175, similar to the blackout against SOPA and PIPA held earlier this year. I feel that your input on the subject will definitely help in the discussion.

Please feel free to participate in the discussion at Wikipedia talk:Tambayan Philippines#The Cybercrime Prevention Act, and I hope your input will help the Filipino Wikipedia community determine which is the best course of action against this law. Similarly, we hope to get as much input from as many Wikipedians as possible.

Thank you and maraming salamat po!

Kind regards,

2019 US Banknote Contest

edit
US Banknote Contest
November-December 2019

There are an estimated 30,000 different varieties of United States banknotes, yet only a fraction of these are represented on Wikimedia Commons in the form of 2D scans. Additionally, Colonial America, the Confederate States, the Republic of Texas, multiple states and territories, communities, and private companies have issued banknotes that are in the public domain today but are absent from Commons.

In the months of November and December, WikiProject Numismatics will be running a cross-wiki upload-a-thon, the 2019 US Banknote Contest. The goal of the contest is to increase the number of US banknote images available to content creators on all Wikimedia projects. Participants will claim points for uploading and importing 2D scans of US banknotes, and at the end of the contest all will receive awards. Whether you want to claim the Gold Wiki or you just want to have fun, all are invited to participate.

If you do not want to receive invitations to future US Banknote Contests, follow the instructions here
