The Oniimwandi village

A village is a group of houses and associated buildings, larger than a hamlet and smaller than a town, situated in a rural area. A very small area, regarded as having features characteristic of village life.The Onimwandi village is situated in the Oshana region,Oshakati west constituency, 5km away from Oshakati on the left hand side of the main road on your way to Okahao. The headman of the Oniimwandi village is Mr Erastus Amupolo and his assistant is mr Juuda Amupolo. Oniimwandi village's people are very friendly, peacefull and kind that one would not even want to let them go. They help each other when they are suffocating example, in case of drought if one didn't get enough of what he/she has planted and their food get finished, the neighbor will help them.


The village is well known in the Northern part of the country because a hero was born there. Dr Abraham Iyambo who was the Minister for Fisheries and Marine Resources and now the minister of Education was born on the 2nd February 1961 in the Oniimwandi village, Oshana Region is a Namibian politician. In addition the Oniimwandi primary school that was visited by the prime minister Nahas Angula in 2006 after the learners went for a tour to the parliament is also in this village, just next to the church.
