Speedy deletion nomination of User:New Growth Press

edit

A tag has been placed on User:New Growth Press requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section U5 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the page appears to consist of writings, information, discussions, and/or activities not closely related to Wikipedia's goals. Please note that Wikipedia is not a free web hosting service. Under the criteria for speedy deletion, such pages may be deleted at any time.

If you think this page should not be deleted for this reason, you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and clicking the button labelled "Contest this speedy deletion". This will give you the opportunity to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. However, be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag from the page yourself, but do not hesitate to add information in line with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. If the page is deleted, and you wish to retrieve the deleted material for future reference or improvement, then please contact the deleting administrator, or if you have already done so, you can place a request here. Your account has been blocked indefinitely from editing because of the following problems: the account has been used for advertising or promotion, which is contrary to the purpose of Wikipedia, and your username indicates that the account represents a business, organisation, group, or web site, which is against the username policy.

You may request a change of name and unblock if you intend to make useful contributions other than promoting your business or organization. To do this, first search Special:CentralAuth for available usernames that comply with the username policy. Once you have found an acceptable username, post the text {{unblock-spamun|Your proposed new username|Your reason here}} at the bottom of your talk page. Replace the text "Your proposed new username" with your new username and replace the text "Your reason here" with your reasons to be unblocked. In your reasons, you must:

  • Disclose any compensation you may receive for your contributions in accordance with the Wikipedia:Paid-contribution disclosure requirement.
  • Convince us that you understand the reason for your block and that you will not repeat the kind of edits for which you were blocked.
  • Describe in general terms the contributions that you intend to make if you are unblocked.
Appeals: If, after reviewing the guide to appealing blocks, you believe this block was made in error, you may appeal it by adding the text {{unblock|Your reason here}} at the bottom of your talk page. Replace the text "Your reason here" with the reasons you believe the block was an error, and publish the page. 331dot (talk) 14:45, 24 May 2021 (UTC)Reply

Can you please help? We don't understand why our account has been blocked as we are not trying to advertise but just give information about our publishing. Should we remove the names of our book titles for instance? New Growth Press (talk) 16:14, 24 May 2021 (UTC)Reply

I removed your request formatting, since you are just asking a question. The reason for the block is described above. I think you have confused creating an article with creating an account.(note that articles do not have "User:" in the title) Accounts are for individuals only. Please designate a single person to exclusively operate this account, and then that person should follow the instructions above to propose a new username and request unblock.
Please understand that Wikipedia is not for merely providing information; that is considered promotional here. You don't have to be soliciting customers or selling something. Wikipedia is an encyclopedia that summarizes what independent reliable sources with significant coverage have chosen on their own to say about(in this case) a company, showing how it meets the special Wikipedia definition of a notable company. This means that Wikipedia is primarily interested in what others say about your company, not what it wants to say about itself- the company is free to do that on social media or your own website. 331dot (talk) 16:21, 24 May 2021 (UTC)Reply

This user's unblock request has been reviewed by an administrator, who declined the request. Other administrators may also review this block, but should not override the decision without good reason (see the blocking policy).

Request reason:

Sorry - didn't realize that when creating an account the username couldn't be the name of the publisher I work for

Decline reason:

As mentioned already, that's only part of the reason for your block. There's no reason to unblock if you're only here to create an article about your employer. Wikipedia is not a business directory. OhNoitsJamie Talk 15:56, 29 May 2021 (UTC)Reply

If you want to make any further unblock requests, please read the guide to appealing blocks first, then use the {{unblock}} template again. If you make too many unconvincing or disruptive unblock requests, you may be prevented from editing this page until your block has expired. Do not remove this unblock review while you are blocked.

I've removed your duplicate request, as only one open request is needed at a time; you may edit it to make changes. 331dot (talk) 19:14, 24 May 2021 (UTC)Reply

As 331dot mentions above - your username is only part of the issue here. It would be best to review our Conflict of Interest policy, and make sure that you still want to edit - understanding that you should not edit about yourself, your employer, or your company directly. rename not successful

edit

The chosen username is too similar to an existing username or it used to be username of someone else that got renamed: Cherylwhite. Please make another of selection. --Deepfriedokra (talk) 17:45, 24 May 2021 (UTC)Reply

I've renamed you from New Growth Press, and someone else will review the substance of your request; you will need to better address the points in the block notice. Wikipedia is not a place for businesses to tell the world about themselves; Wikipedia is an encyclopedia which summarizes what independent reliable sources with significant coverage have chosen on their own to say about(in this case) a company, showing how it meets Wikipedia's special definition of a notable company. Wikipedia is not interested in what a company wants to say about itself, only in what others completely unconnected with the company say about it. 331dot (talk) 19:17, 24 May 2021 (UTC)Reply

Request reason:

Thank you for your help. Apologies but I did not understand the reason for Wikipedia initially. I will now go ahead and comment on other information that I can find in here about various Wikipedia pages and then hopefully one day someone will submit an article about who we are!

Decline reason:

As noted, one open request at a time please. And this wasn't really a request, more a supporting communication; you really don't need to use the template for that. — Daniel Case (talk) 19:46, 25 May 2021 (UTC)Reply
