Your contributions to Deftones articles

edit

Hi Julian.l91, and welcome to Wikipedia!

I've seen that you've been making changes to Deftones-related articles, entirely in good faith. However, uploading images in the manner you have been is problematic. First of all, there are rules about copyrighted images being used on Wikipedia. It states that they have to be of a relatively low resolution, unless you can justify otherwise. Most importantly, though, copyrighted images cannot be added to Wikimedia Commons. They will be deleted soon. Also, you have been stating that the licensing is {{cc-by-sa-3.0}}, whereas in fact you should be using {{non-free album cover}}. Last of all, if you have a better version of an album cover – i.e. a less pixelated one – you should upload it over the existing one, by hitting "Upload a new version of this file" on the existing image's page.

I don't mean to attack, but you'll notice your images being deleted soon and I thought you should understand why. If you need any help with anything else, feel free to message me. Also, consider joining the Deftones WikiProject, where efforts on Deftones-related articles are coordinated. Seegoon (talk) 13:17, 28 December 2008 (UTC)Reply

Personally, I think that 500x500 is kickass, but you might get complaints from some of the grumpy bastards who exist here only to provide misery. My stance is that if a Google image search turns it up, or a press area turns it up, it's easy enough to get your hands on and we're hardly giving pirates a reacharound, which is what they're afraid of. Anyway, enjoy. Seegoon (talk) 15:12, 28 December 2008 (UTC)Reply
See here. Your account must be four days old, with ten edits. Unfortunately that's a couple of days away, but you can see the logic behind a requirement like that. You could always save the urls into your user page so that you can return to them in two days to upload them. Also, for a properly set up album cover page, see File:These Arms Are Snakes - Tail Swallower and Dove.jpg. Sorry about the wait, bud. Seegoon (talk) 15:40, 28 December 2008 (UTC)Reply

Hi there. In case you didn't know, when you add content to talk pages and Wikipedia pages that have open discussion, you should sign your posts by typing four tildes ( ~~~~ ) at the end of your comment. If you can't type the tilde character, you should click on the signature button   located above the edit window. This will automatically insert a signature with your name and the time you posted the comment. This information is useful because other editors will be able to tell who said what, and when. License tagging for File:Deftones dvd live in hawaii.jpg

edit

Thanks for uploading File:Deftones dvd live in hawaii.jpg. You don't seem to have indicated the license status of the image. Wikipedia uses a set of image copyright tags to indicate this information; to add a tag to the image, select the appropriate tag from this list, click on this link, then click "Edit this page" and add the tag to the image's description. If there doesn't seem to be a suitable tag, the image is probably not appropriate for use on Wikipedia.

For help in choosing the correct tag, or for any other questions, leave a message on Wikipedia:Media copyright questions. Thank you for your cooperation. --ImageTaggingBot (talk) 00:06, 31 December 2008 (UTC)Reply
