Indian Mirages getting ASRAAM

edit

I read in wiki Mirage 2000 article that upgrades are getting Bae ASRAAMs. You gave the source as AWST. i wanna more abt it, if you post some more info from that Mag as to what exactly did they say about. ASRAAM for Indian Mirage is surprise as It already has MICA & can have Python-5 & R-73s.--59.162.215.107 03:52, 17 January 2007 (UTC) Reply

I don't have the article at hand at the moment. It was not a major article, just a news item though. If you could sign your comment with four ~'s that would help me get back to you with any details. Josh 16:23, 16 January 2007 (UTC)Reply

I dont think your source (BTW isnt visible) to be very accurate. Some examples: 0 Alouttes II (are Lamas), the A-4AR are 34, IAI Fingers (you didnt post it) are 15 , Pucaras at least 40, 707 are 2, Guarani 0, 212s 7, and go on. --Jor70 15:25, 22 January 2007 (UTC)Reply

Sounds like great info. Please update the appropriate numbers and make sure to note the source for those items. Josh 16:05, 22 January 2007 (UTC)Reply
I dont think such detail is necessary, perhaps only the model without quantites Jor70 16:20, 22 January 2007 (UTC)Reply
It is quite handy to know at least roughly the quantities involved to give some idea of the importance of various types. There is also a notes column to add additional details. Josh 16:24, 22 January 2007 (UTC)Reply
Perhaps a mention regarding stocked airframes particullary A-4AR Fightinghawks and Pucaras. - Jor70 17:04, 22 January 2007 (UTC)Reply

World Rally Championship seasons

edit

Hey. Great work on expanding these season articles and I like the images. I noticed you also replaced the result tables on 1981 World Rally Championship season with an "old-style" layout. The new layout, on 1981, 1984, 1986, 1987 and 2007, was implemented after this discussion and agreed on by all users, so I hope you can check that out and participate in the discussion if you disagree with the way it looks. Thanks, Prolog 15:21, 28 March 2007 (UTC)Reply

Thank you for the comment. Actually I tried to not change the format of the layout for 1981, but merely changed the header to fit it into the format of the rest of the page (table width and text size). I did make one minor change within the table and that was to add a break after the flag for the event, but I will note this in the discussion. Josh 15:35, 28 March 2007 (UTC)Reply

Hi, I've seen that you are the author of the Su-25 operators image (File:World operators of the Su-25.png). I'm currently overhauling the Su-25 article and I really have big plans for it. Is it posible for you to update the image? If yes, you can find the necessary informations in the "Operators" section. Best regards, --Eurocopter tigre 14:28, 18 June 2007 (UTC)Reply

Vandalism: Military of Azerbaijan

edit

Hi Josh, I dont know many people in wikpedia but since you are experienced with military articles, I need your help regarding the Military of Azerbaijan article. Some Armenian keeps on vandalizing the article. I didnt notice the changes untill now but they removed the military gallery and Im not able to add it back, Im doing something wrong and I dont know what it is. Could you help add the military gallery back without reverting, because the article already has been updated. Check out this link to see the historic changes, you will clearly see that it really is Armenians who are candalizing the article. I hope you can help, thanks!

The gallery appears to be in place at this point. If you experience further problems, you probably should contact an administrator. They can protect the page to prevent edit wars and vandalism. Luckily, I've not had to do this myself in the past, but thus I don't know the exact procedures for doing so. Thanks... oh, and it is best to sign your comments with four tildes

Linking in disambiguation pages

edit

Disambiguation pages are not articles. They are a tool for taking readers to articles when a query entry is ambiguous. When an item is listed for an existing article, the words in the one line description are not linked. Readers can find out more about the item by clicking on it. Only when an item is red ink (that is, yet to be written) is it appropriate to link such words in the description that would help the reader understand what the yet-to-be-written article might be about. Politely, your edits to the Qalat disambiguation page were not appropriate. Please use your talents on articles that need them. Thanks. --Bejnar 23:28, 6 September 2007 (UTC)Reply

I have a hard time believing you are upset with this edit. Many if not most dab pages have wikilinks in the text, so if you are crusading about extraneous links in dab pages, you clearly have a big bite to chew. I usually just stick with the style of a dab page I edit, not change it, which for Qalat I made an oops. Feel free to zap the extra wikilinks if you want, it won't bother me. My only purpose for the edit was to change the link from Qalat (Zabul) to Qalat, Afghanistan (which is where Qalat (Zabul) redirects to. Josh 23:46, 6 September 2007 (UTC)Reply
The education of editors, including my own education as an editor, is a never-ending process. I just fix 'em as I find 'em, and try to let people know. The guideline is at Wikipedia:Manual of Style (disambiguation pages)#Individual entries "Unlike a regular article page, do not wikilink any other words in the line, unless they may be essential to help the reader determine where they might find the information." The exception is further articulated under redlinks as: "Redlinks should usually not be the only link in a given entry; link also to an existing article, so that a reader (as opposed to a contributing editor) will have somewhere to navigate to for additional information." I would appreciate it if you would consider cleaning up disambiguation pages when you find them seriously overlinked. Thanks. --Bejnar 18:20, 7 September 2007 (UTC)Reply

1973 WRC templates

edit

Hi Joshbaumgartner. I was just wondering if there was any reason why you created a separate infobox template for each round of the 1973 WRC season, rather than just including a populated template in the respective rally report articles? DH85868993 06:52, 14 September 2007 (UTC)Reply

You could probably do the same with the "District" templates you've created - from the sample I looked at, it looks like they're each transcluded into only a single article. Cheers. DH85868993 00:52, 22 September 2007 (UTC)Reply

Infoboxes for Afghanistan provinces and districts

Please don't create a separate infobox template for every district and province. It is simply wasteful especially as each infobox was using the generic infobox. I have transferred the information in the infoboxes to their respective articles and transferred the infobox code to subpages attached to the article talkpages like this example -> Talk:Badakhshan Province/Infobox in order to preserve the histories for GDFL purposes.
