Welcome!

edit

Hello, JonWilliquette, and welcome to Wikipedia! Thank you for your contributions.

I noticed that one of the first articles you edited was Answers in Genesis, which appears to be dealing with a topic with which you may have a conflict of interest. In other words, you may find it difficult to write about that topic in a neutral and objective way, because you are, work for, or represent, the subject of that article. Your recent contributions may have already been undone for this very reason.

To reduce the chances of your contributions being undone, you might like to draft your revised article before submission, and then ask me or another editor to proofread it. See our help page on userspace drafts for more details. If the page you created has already been deleted from Wikipedia, but you want to save the content from it to use for that draft, don't hesitate to ask anyone from this list and they will copy it to your user page.

One rule we do have in connection with conflicts of interest is that accounts used by more than one person will unfortunately be blocked from editing. Wikipedia generally does not allow editors to have usernames which imply that the account belongs to a company or corporation. If you have a username like this, you should request a change of username or create a new account. (A name that identifies the user as an individual within a given organization may be OK.)

In addition, if you receive, or expect to receive, compensation for any contribution you make, you must disclose your employer, client, and affiliation to comply with our terms of use and our policy on paid editing.

Here are some pages that you might find helpful:

I hope you enjoy editing here and being a Wikipedian! Please sign your messages on talk pages using four tildes (~~~~); this will automatically insert your username and the date. If you need help, check out Wikipedia:Questions, ask me on my talk page, or ask your question on this page and then place {{Help me}} before the question. Again, welcome! Thank Doug. I would argue that those who currently work for a specific organization have an understanding and insight far greater than those who have no relationship with that organization. Thus, the comments, edits, or details provided by those who are employed by the organization have a more reliable credibility than those who simply seek to damage the reputation of that organization. I appreciate your message and look forward to making additional, credible contributions to the organizations of which I am employed in the future. JonWilliquette (talk) 14:27, 3 April 2023 (UTC)Reply
And I expect you to comply with WP:PAID. Note that we are a mainstream encyclopedia and creationism has a bad reputation in the mainstream to say the least. So yes, we are negative towards creationism and its followers and organisations. If you wish to advocate for it you are in the wrong place. Doug Weller talk 14:32, 3 April 2023 (UTC)Reply
I am not currently being paid to write edits for any organization, so WP:PAID does not apply.
Additionally, you do, in fact, admit to discrimination and hate speech toward those with creationist views on this platform? JonWill (talk) 14:41, 3 April 2023 (UTC)Reply
Wikipedia has an academic bias in which mainstream and secular scholarly and scientific sources are given prominence over any individual sect's doctrines.
Also, did you not just state here that you work for the organization you were writing about? If that is true, then you're a paid editor; whether or not you were specifically paid by them to edit Wikipedia is immaterial. --Drm310 🍁 (talk) 14:59, 3 April 2023 (UTC)Reply

Please refrain from making unconstructive edits to Wikipedia, as you did at Creation Museum. Your edits appear to be disruptive and have been or will be reverted.

Please ensure you are familiar with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines, and please do not continue to make edits that appear disruptive. Continued disruptive editing may result in loss of editing privileges. There is longstanding consensus to include that word. If you have a conflict of interest, you are obliged to declare it per WP:COI and refrain from editing directly when your COI affects your ability to do so neutrally. Actualcpscm (talk) 14:20, 3 April 2023 (UTC)Reply

This is your only warning; if you use Wikipedia for soapboxing, promotion or advertising again, as you did at Creation Museum, you may be blocked from editing without further notice. Actualcpscm (talk) 14:23, 3 April 2023 (UTC)Reply

COI Warning

edit

Hello, JonWill. We welcome your contributions, but if you have an external relationship with the people, places or things you have written about on Wikipedia, you may have a conflict of interest (COI). Editors with a conflict of interest may be unduly influenced by their connection to the topic. See the conflict of interest guideline and FAQ for organizations for more information. We ask that you:

In addition, you are required by the Wikimedia Foundation's terms of use to disclose your employer, client, and affiliation with respect to any contribution which forms all or part of work for which you receive, or expect to receive, compensation. See Wikipedia:Paid-contribution disclosure.

Also, editing for the purpose of advertising, publicising, or promoting anyone or anything is not permitted. Thank you.

This is a fascinating viewpoint. However, I would argue that those who currently work for a specific organization have an understanding and insight far greater than those who have no relationship with that organization. Thus, the comments, edits, or details provided by those who are employed by the organization have a more reliable credibility than those who simply seek to damage the reputation of that organization. JonWilliquette (talk) 14:24, 3 April 2023 (UTC)Reply
You could argue that, but this is not your house so you don't make the rules. Horse Eye's Back (talk) 14:25, 3 April 2023 (UTC)Reply
Thanks for your message. Grateful for your consideration and due respect. JonWilliquette (talk) 14:28, 3 April 2023 (UTC)Reply
It is not a viewpoint, it is official policy of the encyclopedia. If you don't intend to adhere to editing policy, you should refrain from editing on Wikipedia. Actualcpscm (talk) 14:26, 3 April 2023 (UTC)Reply
Thanks for your message. I appreciate your comments and look forward to making additional, credible contributions to the organizations of which I am employed and have greater knowledge about. JonWilliquette (talk) 14:29, 3 April 2023 (UTC)Reply

Notice of Conflict of interest noticeboard discussion

edit

There is currently a discussion at Wikipedia:Conflict of interest/Noticeboard regarding a possible conflict of interest incident with which you may be involved. Thank you. Actualcpscm (talk) 14:30, 3 April 2023 (UTC)Reply

Thank you for mentioning this. I currently am employed by the organization, thus have a deeper understanding and knowledge of the organization to make credible edits to the information pertaining to the organization. Thank you for your consideration and respect. JonWilliquette (talk) 14:31, 3 April 2023 (UTC)Reply

Notification: Blocked

You have been blocked indefinitely from editing for Wikipedia:NOTHERE. If you think there are good reasons why you should be unblocked, you may request an unblock by first reading the guide to appealing blocks, then adding {{unblock|your reason here}} below this notice. This user's unblock request has been reviewed by an administrator, who declined the request. Other administrators may also review this block, but should not override the decision without good reason (see the blocking policy).

Request reason:

I currently work for the organization in question, thus have a deeper understanding and knowledge of that organization. I am a far more credible source of the information about this company than those who have no ties or interest in the company other than to defame and hurt the reputation of that organization.

Decline reason:

That's not how Wikipedia works. This shows you haven't bothered to read WP:COI or WP:UPE despite numerous times people have pointed you there. And, despite your earlier claims, you do indeed count as a paid editor as per WP:PAID. Yamla (talk) 14:46, 3 April 2023 (UTC)Reply

If you want to make any further unblock requests, please read the guide to appealing blocks first, then use the {{unblock}} template again. If you make too many unconvincing or disruptive unblock requests, you may be prevented from editing this page until your block has expired. Do not remove this unblock review while you are blocked.

Wikipedia is not interested in what an organization wishes to say about itself or how it is portrayed. Your organization has no right of ownership or control over the article about it. The neutral point of view policy will ensure that both positive and negative information will be included, as long as it is cited to reliable, independent sources and presented with proper balance. --Drm310 🍁 (talk) 14:51, 3 April 2023 (UTC)Reply
