Bodrog Monastery

Hi, and welcome to Wikipedia. I hope you enjoy the place and decide to stay. I noticed you created the above article, and was wondering where you found the sources for the article. It reads a bit like an information leaflet, and I'm a little concerned that it may be a copyright violation of such a leaflet. Could you indicate what sources you used to write the article so they can be added to the article? Martijn Hoekstra (talk) 12:26, 30 October 2008 (UTC)Reply

Hi, thanks for the welcome. It is from a leaflet of the monastery. I'm still working on how to add the source. Its not that easy to understand how to do everything here. Thanks though.

Nah, but fortunately there are plenty of people who will help you along the way. I put a welcome template below, which has lots of useful links. If the article is taken directly from the leaflet, or if it is simply an adaptation of the leaflet though, it is a violation of the copyright of the writer of the leaflet, and unfortunately cannot be accepted, because of the way Wikipedia is licenced (it is free to be copied for any commercial or non commercial goal, see WP:COPY). You can take the facts from the leaflet and put them in your own words though. Martijn Hoekstra (talk) 13:07, 30 October 2008 (UTC)Reply

Ok, thanks a lot for the advice!

I understand Wikipedia's copyright rules, but what if the author consents to a direct copy? Is this allowed and must I site this somehow? Or does it not matter and I must put them into my own words, regardless? Thanks.

When the author consents to a direct copy, he or she may licence it by either releasing it in the public domain, or releasing it under a licence compatible with our licence. WP:IOWN gives some more help. Martijn Hoekstra (talk) 13:36, 30 October 2008 (UTC)Reply

Thanks again. I'll get it sorted out as soon as I can :) -john

Hi again-- I've made changes to the text and put them into my own words as much as I could. I did make initial changes into my own words (as the english translation was not that accurate at times), so it may appear that I have not changed that much in sections. Those sections were altered initially from the original text. Thank you for your help.--John

This is ridiculous. How do I find pictures I've uploaded to Wikipedia? When I go to "my contributions" they aren't there. I'm trying to make a page...and I can't because I can't find the pictures I uploaded only a few days ago. John Thompson05 (talk) 13:56, 3 November 2008 (UTC)Reply

Your question at the New contributor's help desk

You said you wanted to edit the "sidebar" that appeared at Yellowstone. The sidebar you are referring to, is called an infobox which is a sort of template that allows editors to enter certain standardized pieces of information. What would you like to change about that infobox? If it's really a good idea, perhaps you should ask the major contributor to {{Infobox Protected area}} to add the field you want (most ones in existence nowadays make existing field optional so they disappear if they're not filled in. - Mgm|(talk) 22:21, 15 November 2008 (UTC)Reply
