Databanks
Hello Mr. Carter,
I am doing a bit of cleanup on WP:QC and I was wondering whether your databank offer (seen here) from Feb 2011 is still valid. Thanks! - Sweet Nightmares 17:34, 11 July 2014 (UTC)
- Help with databanks in general still is but I am not sure right now the libraries I use still subscribe to the same databanks. John Carter (talk) 17:55, 11 July 2014 (UTC)
- Noted. I appreciate it! - Sweet Nightmares 23:09, 11 July 2014 (UTC)

Religious intolerance and attacks
This goes beyond the pale. You cannot attack other people because they don't share your sectarian views of Christianity. This is not acceptable. Consider this an official warning for you to stop attacking other editors' religious beliefs and practices. Guettarda (talk) 18:03, 14 July 2014 (UTC)
- Your own laughable comment above is further evidence I believe of both an inability to be basically rational as well as an inability to jump to unwarranted conclusions and to make irrational accusations based on those irrational conclusions. I have no particular objections to receiving reasonable criticism. Unfortunately, I can honestly say I have seen nothing from you to indicate you are capable of such. Therefore, I ask you to stay off this page. John Carter (talk) 18:21, 14 July 2014 (UTC)
Dawkins, Christ myth theory
I thought you might be interested, since I saw you mentioning Dawkins on Jesus recently:
"Maybe I alluded to the possibility that some historians think Jesus never existed. I take that back. Jesus existed. However, if you are going to say that Jesus was born of a virgin, that Jesus walked on water, that he turned water into wine—that is palpably unscientific, there is no evidence for that." Richard Dawkins, "Has Science Buried God? Debate with John Lennox and Richard Dawkins", Natural History Museum, Oxford (21st October 2008) [1] --Atethnekos (Discussion, Contributions) 02:20, 11 July 2014 (UTC)
- I've never followed Dawkins too closely, but was he really a believer in the Jesus didn't exist stuff? I thought it was just a honeytrap to make hardcore atheists look dumb. JASpencer (talk) 19:43, 15 July 2014 (UTC)

Wrecked side-bar at Acts of the Apostles
John, I tried to put a side-bar on Acts of the Apostles like the ones on the Gospels - the one that lists the contents. I totally totalled it instead. Can you or someone fix the mess I made? (I started by copy-pasting the one from Gospel of Matthew, but everything went wrong after that).
Thanks for any help you can organise. PiCo (talk) 16:25, 18 July 2014 (UTC)
- Actually, the template itself looks pretty good. Is it the long gap before the "Outline" section that concerns you? John Carter (talk) 16:46, 18 July 2014 (UTC)
- What I see when I look at the page is a template that reads "Detailed contents of Acts" but contains the contents from the Gospel of Luke (which was my starting point for an attempted cut and paste). When I open the template with the edit button it actually has the Acts material, but that doesn't show up when the template is closed. Do you know anyone who knows how these work? PiCo (talk) 14:41, 19 July 2014 (UTC)
- User:John Carter/AA is available for draft purposes now. Except for maybe butting in on things once or twicetoday I might be too tied up to do much today, but I hope that tomorrow will be diffferent. You can of course do whatever you want to do to it as well. John Carter (talk) 14:58, 19 July 2014 (UTC)

Bob Dylan bibliography query
Hi John, after Talk page discussion I've created BD bibliography. A quick technical query about Bob Dylan template. I've tried to edit it so that Bibliography is in last section: "Related articles". But when I go to another BD article, eg "Like a Rolling Stone", BD bibliography is not visible in BD template. I feel there's some technical thing I'm unaware of. Thanks & best wishes, Mick gold (talk) 07:35, 22 July 2014 (UTC)

Malta
I see that you haven't completely retired, so I thought I'd ask you to take a look at the latest edit to Malta. I wonder if that edit was correct, and I thought you would know. Thanks. CorinneSD (talk) 16:15, 28 July 2014 (UTC)
- @CorinneSD: If you mean the one about the Kingdom of Sicily, I would myself not use the word Catalan but the name of the country itself, but it isn't unreasonable to say the KoS at that time was Catalan. John Carter (talk) 17:07, 28 July 2014 (UTC)
- Oh. O.K. Thanks. Does that mean that the name that was there before, Aragonese, was wrong? CorinneSD (talk) 17:34, 28 July 2014 (UTC)

Arbitration Enforcement
Reminder to administrators: In March 2010, ArbCom adopted a procedure instructing administrators as follows: "No administrator may modify a sanction placed by another administrator without: (1) the explicit prior affirmative consent of the enforcing administrator; or (2) prior affirmative agreement for the modification at (a) AE or (b) AN or (c) ARCA (see "Important notes" [in the procedure]). Administrators modifying sanctions out of process may at the discretion of the committee be desysopped." Administrators who reverse this block without the clear authorisation described in that procedure will be summarily desysopped.
