Apparent COI with Henry Duffy

edit

Greetings! I notice you claim to be the photographer for the image in Henry Duffy. This would indicate you have (had) a professional relationship with Duffy, which is a conflict of interest. Can you provide more information on how you obtained the image? —C.Fred (talk) 03:00, 11 February 2024 (UTC)Reply

I got the image from the ALPA website, and did not know how to attribute it. I do not have a professional relationship with Mr Duffy. I do know him, however, if that matters. Please advise on how I can correct the attribution for the photo. Thanks. Jnorman34 (talk) 03:55, 11 February 2024 (UTC)Reply
Thank you for clarifying. I have requested deletion of the image, because it is copyrighted and under an all-rights-reserved license. —C.Fred (talk) 04:37, 11 February 2024 (UTC)Reply
Can I just use a link to the photo from the ALPA website. If not, how can I legally obtain a photo of Mr Duffy? I found one on Alamy, but it says it is not available for licensing in my area. Jnorman34 (talk) 04:45, 11 February 2024 (UTC)Reply
Wikipedia does not allow hotlinking to outside images. To use an image of Duffy on Wikipedia, it will likely need to be a free image. This is one where the copyright holder is released their copyright claims on the image (or made it available under a free license like a Creative Commons license), so the image can be used for any derivative purpose, inclusind commercial reuse. As a general rule, a non-free image of a living person can't be used in the infobox of their article. —C.Fred (talk) 04:49, 11 February 2024 (UTC)Reply
Could I request a photo directly from Mr Duffy or one of his family members? I believe his daughter could provide one of her personal photos of him. If so, how do I attribute the image? Again, thank you for your assistance with this. Jnorman34 (talk) 04:54, 11 February 2024 (UTC)Reply
