Hello Jim Nightshade! Welcome to Wikipedia! Thank you for your contributions. I think its very important for you to browse through some of the links below so as to become familiar with how Wikipedia works. If you need any help you can ask me on my talk page, or place {{helpme}} on your talk page and another Wikipedian will show up shortly. Please remember to sign your name on talk pages by clicking or by typing four tildes "~~~~"; this will automatically produce your name and the date. If you're already loving Wikipedia and plan on becoming a Wikipedian you might consider being "adopted" by a more experienced editor, just paste {{Adoptme}} into your userpage and you will gladly be adopted! You might also consider joining a WikiProject so as to collaborate with others in creating and improving articles of your interest. Click here for a directory of all the WikiProjects. Finally, please do your best to always fill in the edit summary field. Happy editing! Just H 06:20, 1 January 2007 (UTC)Reply

Adoption? edit

Hello, would you be interested in being adopted by me? Dev920 (Have a nice day!) 17:33, 5 February 2007 (UTC)Reply

You placed your message on my userpage rather than my talkpage. If you look at the top of this screen, you can see several tabs at the top of this page. One of them says "userpage", and the one to the right of that says "discussion". Whenever you want to message someone, click on the discussion tab and that will take you to their talkpage. Then you can click on the little + next to "edit this page" to add a new section, and write your message.
Anyway, I would be delighted to adopt you. My other adoptee is also-part-time, so how long you spend on Wikipedia is your call. Add {{adoptee|Dev920}} to your userpage, and it's official! I'm fairly new to the adoption process myself, but here's how I'm currently working: you are welcome to contact me if you have questions related to anything on Wikipedia, like how to edit, where to go for things etc., if you need help with anything, like if you get into an argument, or have general problems, or if you just want general advice. I, for my part, will periodically look through your contributions and let you know if you're making any inadvertant mistakes. That sound OK? Would you like to suggest or change anything? Dev920 (Have a nice day!) 10:28, 10 February 2007 (UTC)Reply
The way you're citing sounds fine, generally it doesn't matter what citation form you use as long as you're consistent throughout the article. The more conventional form of referencing, however, can be found here, and generally info on the different types of referencing here. Btw, I notived you are using html code to indicate paragraph breaks. Did you know that you can simple leave a blank line

and it will do the same thing? You might want to take a look at this page on wiki markup. Dev920 (Have a nice day!) 10:57, 13 February 2007 (UTC)Reply

Yo Jim, do you still want to be adopted? Dev920 (Have a nice day!) 23:10, 6 March 2007 (UTC)Reply

Hello! Just wondering how it's going - and are you going to the Wikimania 2007 in Taipei? Dev920 (Have a nice day!) 11:02, 30 March 2007 (UTC)]Reply

Sounds great, but I can't actually read it. I have to go offline until June now, but I will be on for an hour every day to cover any issues you're having. Sorry about this, but I really do want to pass my exams... Dev920 (Have a nice day!) 18:17, 1 May 2007 (UTC)Reply
A2s (high school finals?) - 13 exams over about fifteen days. Not fun. A PhD sounds like it might be. :) Dev920 (Have a nice day!) 08:33, 7 May 2007 (UTC)Reply

Alas, I cannot attend through lack of cash, and I missed the scholarship deadline - mea culpa, I was lazy. Your presentation looks both daunting and fascinating, make sure they tape it so I can watch it on the site afterward! Dev920 (Have a nice day!) 16:35, 22 June 2007 (UTC)Reply

Oy! edit

You need to upload your notes! How can I read your presentation if it's missing? Dev920 (Have a nice day!) 00:37, 7 August 2007 (UTC)Reply

Are you sure? I can't find your presentation anywhere and I've been looking fairly hard... Dev920 (Have a nice day!) 21:37, 11 August 2007 (UTC)Reply

Unreferenced BLPs edit

Hello Jim Nightshade! Thank you for your contributions. I am a bot alerting you that 1 of the articles that you created is tagged as an Unreferenced Biography of a Living Person. The biographies of living persons policy requires that all personal or potentially controversial information be sourced. In addition, to ensure verifiability, all biographies should be based on reliable sources. If you were to bring this article up to standards, it would greatly help us with the current 941 article backlog. Once the article is adequately referenced, please remove the {{unreferencedBLP}} tag. Here is the article:

  1. Zush - Find sources: Google (books · news · scholar · free images · WP refs· FENS · JSTOR · TWL

ArbCom elections are now open! edit

Hi,
You appear to be eligible to vote in the current Arbitration Committee election. The Arbitration Committee is the panel of editors responsible for conducting the Wikipedia arbitration process. It has the authority to enact binding solutions for disputes between editors, primarily related to serious behavioural issues that the community has been unable to resolve. This includes the ability to impose site bans, topic bans, editing restrictions, and other measures needed to maintain our editing environment. The arbitration policy describes the Committee's roles and responsibilities in greater detail. If you wish to participate, you are welcome to review the candidates' statements and submit your choices on the voting page.
