Adoption offer

edit

Hi. I noticed that you've requested adoption, and I'd like to offer to adopt you. I've made a couple of thousand edits to the English Wikipedia, so I'm fairly familiar with the policies and procedures, and ought to be able to answer (or find the answer to) any questions you may have. I live in the eastern US, so my time zone is GMT-5. I'm around most evenings, so I should be able to respond quickly if you leave me a message. If you'd like to accept my offer, just leave a message on my talk page. Happy editing. --Sopoforic 08:03, 25 January 2007 (UTC)Reply

I'm glad you've accepted my offer. I'll look over your contributions shortly and see if I have any comments or suggestions. Feel free to ask me any sort of question you may have--be it regarding process and policy, style issues, or even difficulties finding sources. I look forward to working with you. Have a nice day. --Sopoforic 06:41, 29 January 2007 (UTC)Reply

Suggestions

edit

I see you created Amar Gupta. It's not in the proper style right now for an encyclopedia article. The first section should have no section heading, and should serve as a good general introduction to the article. You want the lede to be sort of a short version of the article; if someone wanted a two paragraph summary, they should get it from the lede.

I also note that you made edits to make it less like a resume, but it still does read rather like one. You'll want to work on that. Also, you only want one blank line between paragraphs, not two.

On Harvard Graphics you added a link to VCN ExecuVision (Software), which you created also. There doesn't seem to be any good reason for this link to exist.

Finally, we don't add disambiguation information to page titles when it isn't necessary, so you'll want to move VCN ExecuVision (Software) to VCN ExecuVision.

If you have any questions about my suggestions, please just leave a note on my talk page and I'll gladly explain anything I didn't make clear. --Sopoforic 00:58, 31 January 2007 (UTC)Reply

Suggestions regarding Amar Gupta

edit

First, I'd like to apologize for taking so long to get back to you on this. Between exams and computer problems, I've scarcely been able to do anything recently. However, I do have suggestions for the article Amar Gupta, which you requested that I give some time ago.

The introduction to the article isn't in the right style. Have a look at WP:LEDE for information on how to write a good introduction, and take a look at Jimmy Wales for an example. Also, you don't want to write "Dr. Gupta" in the article. See Wikipedia:Manual of Style (biographies)#Academic_titles. Finally (for now), you'll want to provide more context in the article. You list a number of things that Gupta has done, but you also want to provide e.g. the reactions of others to those accomplishments, how they affected other important things, etc.

If you've got any questions or comments for me, please do leave me a message. I think I've straightened out my computer problems, but even if they persist, I'll make an effort to reply to any messages I receive from a library or something, so don't hesitate to contact me. --Sopoforic 04:26, 19 February 2007 (UTC)Reply

edit
Dear uploader: The media file you uploaded as Image:Gupta A 2004.jpg has been listed for speedy deletion because you selected a copyright license type implying some type of restricted use, such as for non-commercial use only, or for educational use only or for use on Wikipedia by permission. While it might seem reasonable to assume that such files can be freely used on Wikipedia, a non-profit website, this is in fact not the case. Please do not upload any more files with these restrictions on them, because content on Wikipedia needs to be compatible with the GNU Free Documentation License, which allows anyone to use it for any purpose, commercial or non-commercial.

If you created this media file and want to use it on Wikipedia, you may re-upload it (or amend the image description if it has not yet been deleted) and use the license {{GFDL-self-no-disclaimers}} to license it under the GFDL, or {{cc-by-sa-2.5}} to license it under the Creative Commons Attribution-ShareAlike license, or use {{PD-self}} to release it into the public domain.

If you did not create this media file but want to use it on Wikipedia, there are two ways to proceed. First, you may choose one of the fair use tags from this list if you believe one of those fair use rationales applies to this file. Second, you may want to contact the copyright holder and request that they make the media available under a free license.

If you have any questions please ask at Wikipedia:Media copyright questions. Thank you. Sherool (talk) 23:56, 12 March 2007 (UTC)Reply
