Re: Reinstatement of "Shane Cross" article edit

Re your message: I would recommend restarting from scratch. The previous revisions that were about the skater were kind of a mess, either they were very short or read too much like a memorial. The most recent version wasn't even about the skater, but was just an editor messing around. I checked all of the revisions and I don't think there is much to be salvaged. There was one reference provided, but the link no longer works: http://www.skateboarding.com/skate/news/article/0,23271,1596724,00.html You might search the site's archive to see if they archived and renamed the article. Unfortunately, there was no article title listed, so you are going to have to search by name. -- Gogo Dodo (talk) 06:42, 2 November 2011 (UTC)Reply

Shane Cross edit

Hi there. I added some new refs and just, well, dumped them there. Would you be so kind as to place them beside the appropriate text within the article? Many thanks, and I'm very pleased the article now exists. Anna Frodesiak (talk) 12:53, 25 November 2011 (UTC)Reply

Hi Anna Frodesiak, thanks for that. Yes, I'll go through them and sort out over the next couple of days, much appreciated Jbro68 (talk) 20:47, 25 November 2011 (UTC)Reply
All done, I've moved them to appropriate points in the text & removed a few that did not seem relevant, thanks Jbro68 (talk) 22:10, 28 November 2011 (UTC)Reply

Matt Hill edit

Matt Hill (CEO), which you submitted to Articles for creation, has been created.

Thank you for helping improve Wikipedia!

Great start article; thanks --Tagishsimon (talk) 23:53, 14 December 2011 (UTC)Reply

No to Matt Hill (CEO/Film maker). We tend only to use a d=single disambiguator. You could change him to Matt Hill (Film maker) if you choose, but seems to me he's beter known as the CEO? Also I'd hold off on changing Matt Hill to Matt Hill (actor). If you want to do that, you should canvass opinion on talk:Matt Hill and check out Wikipedia:Disambiguation. The question is raised, which of the Mat Hills, if any, is the primary topic. Somewhere along the line, we might need a Matt Hill (disambiguation) page. I'll look in on this question again in about 14 hours time, when I next have some time. --Tagishsimon (talk) 07:46, 15 December 2011 (UTC)Reply
Oh, or now. I did look at t'other Matt Hill and reckoned from the enormous list of credits that he would win the primary topic prize, and thus stay at Matt Hill. So I think it remains only to put Matt Hill (disambiguation) together and change the note at the top of Matt Hill to point to it instead of to the two individual Matt Smiths. Again, I'll come back to this much later today, but by all means go ahead and do any of this if you feel confident. --Tagishsimon (talk) 09:16, 15 December 2011 (UTC)Reply
Thanks for that Tagishsimon, I'll have a think about which would be best between CEO & Film maker then. Agree with you that a disambiguation page is needed, there's a few other Matt Hills, a Footballer, Golfer & an EastEnders - Matt Hill) & a US politician Matthew Hill. I haven't done one before, but can look into it. I'll ask on the discussion page about putting (actor) on that Matt Hill page too. Jbro68 (talk) 23:06, 15 December 2011 (UTC)Reply
As you'll have seen if you're following talk:Matt Hill, I've put together the disambiguation page and explained the basis for its naming. Sorry if that was a bit orthogonal to your (actor) renaming proposal, but there seems to be enough evidence to suggest the primary of the current Matt Hill, and so I felt we might as well get on with the disambiguation page so we can move on to whatever we do next. --Tagishsimon (talk) 00:19, 16 December 2011 (UTC)Reply
That's great, I agree with you & thanks for setting that disambiguation page, much appreciated. Cheers Jbro68 (talk) 00:43, 16 December 2011 (UTC)Reply
Nope! The policy on disambiguation pages is that only the main subject is linked; all other parts of the sentence are not. See MOS:DABENTRY: Each entry should have exactly one navigable (blue) link to efficiently guide readers to the most relevant article for that use of the ambiguous term. Do not wikilink any other words in the line. So I'll undo your edit. --Tagishsimon (talk) 01:04, 16 December 2011 (UTC)Reply
Got it - thanks for your patience, I'm on a steep learning curve, cheers, Jbro68 (talk) 02:45, 16 December 2011 (UTC)Reply
No probs. Thanks for yours. Keep making changes. --Tagishsimon (talk) 03:18, 16 December 2011 (UTC)Reply

Consider using the cite web wizard edit

I looked at the refs on Shane Cross. Consider using the various cite templates which you'll find at the top of your edit box under Advanced, Cite, and then selectable from the Templates drop down box. You get better formatted references out of it. Hope that makes some sense. --Tagishsimon (talk) 03:25, 16 December 2011 (UTC)Reply

A ha, thanks again, that's great, I'm having a practice with them now. Jbro68 (talk) 04:13, 16 December 2011 (UTC)Reply
