Is this worth making into a tutorial edit

@Kudpung, DGG, Joe Roe, Robert McClenon, Samtar, Fuhghettaboutit, Chris troutman, and Iazyges: I wrote this one evening a couple of years ago for a young NPPer who was tagging the oddest things as "nonsense". Is it worth transforming into a more generalized tutorial and maybe make up something similar for some of the other areas of reviewing like notability, promo/spam identification, BLP/attack etc. If so are there any suggestions on improving the examples? They were made up quickly and are not pulled from real examples. Some of the explanations are also sub-optimal. Jbh Talk 01:36, 6 February 2017 (UTC)Reply

User:Jbhunley - I'm confused. Where is the essay about nonsense? Robert McClenon (talk) 04:04, 6 February 2017 (UTC)Reply
@Robert McClenon: this is its talk page. It is not really an essay though, it is more of something that could be reshape into a tutorial if the content is worthwhile and maybe used as a model for tutorials on the other subjects. Jbh Talk 04:09, 6 February 2017 (UTC)Reply
@Jbhunley: wouldn't hurt! Perhaps it would be worth having a /guides subpage on NPP? -- Samtar talk · contribs 08:20, 6 February 2017 (UTC)Reply
  • It's interesting if you are using it as a teaching programme at the WP:NPRSCHOOL but otherwise the actual tutorial at WP:NPP is quite explicit and most people who think they ought to be reviewing new pages ought to be able to understand the issues involved without being spoon fed on it. You'd be amazed however just how clueless some of our reviewers actually are. Kudpung กุดผึ้ง (talk) 12:21, 6 February 2017 (UTC)Reply
    @Kudpung and Samtar: I was thinking of something to build up a short curriculum for NPRSCHOOL. The NPR/P tutorial is quite good but I think something which gives examples and reasoning and/or where newer reviewers can get an idea of how things might be done in practice and the logic behind it. I appreciate, probably more than most, what drives you to want to do this, but as you will read now in several places, there is a general apathy towards doing NPP/NPR and getting it improved. I designed and launched the Wikipedia:New pages patrol/School on October 8, 2012‎ - it hasn't had a single customer. I think your time (and your qualities) are better spent lobbying the WMF for the tweaks that are needed to the Page Curation tool set, motivating the community, and helping to continue holding the whole aspect and and notion of New Page Reviewing together as I have been (trying) for 6 years. Example 3 - Manx edit

Your guess of a relative of Celtic or Gaelic was good. I found the quote on page 15 of a book called "Mannanan's Isle". It's online but I'm not sure of the copyright status, so not linking here. Anyway, "Dy jig Skeab Lome ort hene, er dty hiollagh, er dty hlaynt, er dty chooid as er dty chloan!" -> "May the Besom of Destruction come upon thee thyself, upon they hearth, upon they health, upon they possessions and upon thy offspring!" Cheers, and may the Besom of Destruction not come upon thee ☆ Bri (talk) 22:26, 6 August 2018 (UTC)Reply

…you must be very careful about labelling something as a test… edit

Using test can be an expression of WP:AGF. So I would say be liberal with it. All the best: Rich Farmbrough, 07:48, 8 August 2018 (UTC).Reply
