Unreferenced BLPs

edit

Hello Intelectual123! Thank you for your contributions. I am a bot alerting you that 1 of the articles that you created is an Unreferenced Biography of a Living Person. Please note that all biographies of living persons must be sourced. If you were to add reliable, secondary sources to this article, it would greatly help us with the current 876 article backlog. Once the article is adequately referenced, please remove the {{unreferencedBLP}} tag. Here is the article:

  1. Julia Mora - Find sources: Google (books · news · scholar · free images · WP refs· FENS · JSTOR · TWL

Thanks!--DASHBot (talk) 18:31, 2 January 2010 (UTC)Reply

please don't remove valid sources leaving an unsourced biography

I saw your note at Julia Mora, but reverted the changes. Let me explain why.

First, whether you created the article or not, you do not own the article, the Wikipedia policy article WP:OWN talks about this, and may explain your misconception there.

But more importantly, Julia Mora is, as far as I know, a living person, and falls directly under two additional policies.

First, there is our core ("pillar") policy of verifiability. This policy can be found at WP:V. Please read it. All material on Wikipedia should be something which can be verified through independent, reliable sources, e..g., references to newspaper articles, magazines and books.

Even more importantly, this includes our policy on the biographies of living people, which is quite clear that biographies require such references. Your continual attempts to remove the references from this article are therefore non-constructive, and may be reverted at any time, continuing to make those changes (without a better reason, see below) might even lead eventually to your account being blocked here.

Now, if there's a particular reason you'd like that particular newspaper article removed, we can talk about whether that's appropriate or not. This might be appropriate if the article isn't speaking about the subject of the article, or if it contains erroneous information that can be shown to be erroneous by other reliable sources. It might also be appropriate if the source is highly slanted.

As a final note, I realize that it is quite possible that you are, or are close to, the subject of the article. If that is the case, you should be aware that we strongly discourage (but do not prohibit) people from editing their own articles. People editing articles on themselves, people or organizations close to them are subject to our WP:COI policy, which, again, if it applies, you should read and understand.

If you have any questions, please feel free to leave a note on my talk page. I'll be glad to explain further. --joe deckertalk to me 15:22, 30 June 2011 (UTC)Reply
