It is possible that Reginald Gray is notable enough for Wikipedia. Create a draft in User:Idbuca/sandbox and bring it to my attention. (If acceptable, the title will be Reginald Gray (artist) and not the ridiculous ones you created.) — RHaworth (talk · contribs) 10:05, 16 December 2009 (UTC)Reply

Speedy deletion nomination of Reginald Gray Portrait Artist

edit

A tag has been placed on Reginald Gray Portrait Artist requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section A7 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the article appears to be about a person or group of people, but it does not indicate how or why the subject is important or significant: that is, why an article about that subject should be included in an encyclopedia. Under the criteria for speedy deletion, such articles may be deleted at any time. Please see the guidelines for what is generally accepted as notable, as well as our subject-specific notability guideline for biographies. You may also wish to consider using a Wizard to help you create articles - see the Article Wizard.

If you think that this notice was placed here in error, you may contest the deletion by adding {{hangon}} to the top of the page that has been nominated for deletion (just below the existing speedy deletion or "db" tag), coupled with adding a note on the talk page explaining your position, but be aware that once tagged for speedy deletion, if the page meets the criterion, it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but don't hesitate to add information to the page that would render it more in conformance with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. Lastly, please note that if the page does get deleted, you can contact one of these admins to request that they userfy the page or have a copy emailed to you. Notability

edit

This message should have been placed on this page - it was purely a matter of luck that I saw it. You appear to have seen the words "if acceptable, the title will be Reginald Gray (artist)" above so why did you re-create the article on the previous, silly title?

Now, please read these guidelines and add independent references from reliable sources to User:Idbuca/sandbox. How many of the articles listed in Category:Portrait artists have you read? Study some of them!

To avoid another deletion, leave the article where it is, do not post it to the (article) namespace but let me know - by a message on my talk page. I might even be willing to endorse the article by moving it to the (article) namespace myself. Note that "www.npg.org.uk" is utterly useless - it is not even a link. A proper link looks like this:

Do you have an image of the guy - is there a "Reginald Gray by Francis Bacon" portrait? — RHaworth (talk · contribs) 11:43, 16 December 2009 (UTC)Reply

Why?

edit

Re this edit, why have you: a) removed "is a portrait artist" and b) unlinked Francis Bacon. — RHaworth (talk · contribs) 18:53, 18 December 2009 (UTC)Reply

Image update

edit

Please note the following has happened arising from OTRS ticket number 2009122310022975:

1. File:Reginald Gray self-portrait.jpeg has been uploaded. 2. File:Reginald Gray 0296.jpg has been deleted. 3. Three other images by Mr. Gray have been marked approved.

Please let me know if you require any further information. Stifle (talk) 15:23, 13 January 2010 (UTC)Reply

I hope you have noticed that Google has already seen the Reginald Gray (artist) page - Stage 1 objective achieved!

Reginald has aksed me to explain (though he did not use those words!) what does the {{refimprove}} tag mean. Some of us, and that includes many Wikipedia editors, live our lives on the web. References to paper stuff in libraries is all very well but what we want is external links to reliabule sources. The problem is that at the moment the article contains just one link to an independent source: re this the movie. Please go out and find more articles on the web about him. For example, I found this from the Mytholmroyd Net news (there's a wonderfuel name - Mytholmroyd!). How many more can you find that demonstrate his notability? Don't worry about formatting as long as you can copy the URL from your browser's address bar into a Wikipedia edit box, I will do the rest. (Is that too difficult for you or am I being sarcastick?) — RHaworth (talk · contribs) 04:25, 27 January 2010 (UTC)Reply

Re this edit: the failure to close the link with ] I would have silently corrected, but the link is useless - the destination page does not mention Reginald. Find the page that actually mentions him and link to that - and probably it will be better if you do it in the Collections section. — RHaworth (talk · contribs) 14:34, 29 January 2010 (UTC)Reply

More landmarks

edit

Someone else has done an edit! But look at the edit counts for Queenmomcat - I don't think I have ever seen one of these pie charts being solid red! Queenmomcat clearly does just one thing: correcting spelling and grammar. She has never expressed an opinion on the notability of any topic.

Compare her pie chart with that for Necrothesp, a more general editor. Necrothesp's contribution is more significant: they have moved the bio from Reginald Gray to Reginald Gray (politician) and converted Reginald Gray into a disambiguation page. — RHaworth (talk · contribs) 02:22, 31 January 2010 (UTC)Reply

Actually, I have seen another solid red pie chart: this one!RHaworth (talk · contribs) 19:10, 31 January 2010 (UTC)Reply

A tag has been placed on File:Portrait of Justine Frischmann by Reginald GrayDSC00562.JPG requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section F1 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the image is an unused redundant copy (all pixels the same or scaled down) of an image in the same file format, which is on Wikipedia (not on Commons), and all inward links have been updated.

Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but don't hesitate to add information to the page that would render it more in conformance with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. ww2censor (talk) 04:05, 10 February 2010 (UTC)Reply

File Copyright problem

Thanks for uploading File:Justine Frischmann 33x24cm 2002.jpg. I noticed that the file's description page currently doesn't specify who created the content, so the copyright status is unclear. If you did not create this file yourself, you will need to specify the owner of the copyright. If you obtained it from a website, then a link to the website from which it was taken, together with a restatement of that website's terms of use of its content, is usually sufficient information. However, if the copyright holder is different from the website's publisher, their copyright should also be acknowledged.

As well as adding the source, we also need to know the terms of the license that the copyright holder has published the file under, usually done by adding a licensing tag. If you created/took the picture, audio, or video then the {{GFDL-self}} tag can be used to release it under the GFDL. If you believe the media meets the criteria at Wikipedia:Non-free content, use a tag such as {{non-free fair use in|article name}} or one of the other tags listed at Wikipedia:Image copyright tags#Fair use. See Wikipedia:Image copyright tags for the full list of copyright tags that you can use.

If you have uploaded other files, consider checking that you have specified their source and tagged them, too. You can find a list of files you have uploaded by following this link. Unsourced and untagged files may be deleted one week after they have been tagged, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If the file is copyrighted under a non-free license (per Wikipedia:Fair use) then the file will be deleted 48 hours after 04:06, 10 February 2010 (UTC). If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. ww2censor (talk) 04:06, 10 February 2010 (UTC)Reply
