Congrats! As for my RfA, I'm at about 70% support at the moment. Not sure that will cut it, but if I get 5 or so more support votes that'll probably put me over the top. I think that 75% is what's generally needed for an RfA to pass. Weird thing is, nobody's really voted on mine at all since yesterday. - Mike | Talk 01:21, 12 November 2006 (UTC)Reply

Re:Questions

Dynamic IP's are constantly changing. It's usually hard to tell, but sometimes looking at page history of certain shows users with almost completely similar IP addresses. It's usually from that, that you are able to establish if a user is using a dynamic IP. Static is just never changing, so it's not really hard to tell (since they will usually stay vandal if they are always a vandal; or good if they are always good). Also, regarding blocks...I just have to tell you that I am one of the hardest blocking admins on Wikipedia. For new users who vandalize more than 5 pages, I automatically indefblock them. For first-time vandals, I usually deal out a 31-hour or a 48-hour block. After that I go to either a 99-hour block or a week block. If I see a repeated abuser, I usually deal out a block ranging from 1 month to 6 months. Also, keep an eye on collateral damage which can come from blocks to shared IP's like that belonging to school and other institutions. Nishkid64 01:29, 12 November 2006 (UTC)Reply

Thank you for your input

I greatly appreciate you opinions and value your perspectives. Your vantage point enables me to better conceptualize Wikipedia’s purpose. I will watch this site in the future to determine if it becomes more notable, however I won’t lose any sleep if it is not included in that particular article. However, I did find it to be quite hilarious, yet I understand that humor is not a criterion for adding a link to an article.

Look forward to hearing from you, 69.167.102.181

Congratulations!

Re:Zack Goodrich

Go ahead and salt the page. It's been recreated multiple times, and it seems at this point, that there is no need for the article. Discussing the protection for the page is not necessary in most cases. Just as a tip, if I see an article has been recreated more than 4 times on Wikipedia in the past 6 months, I will protect the deleted page. If I see an article recreated more than two times in a month, then I also will go ahead and recreate the page. Nishkid64 14:13, 12 November 2006 (UTC)Reply

Mr. Administrator, I have a request. I would greatly appreciate it if you could be so kind as to block the user User:editoratlarge, which has not as yet made any contributions. It was created in September 2006, far after I created my own account. I would greatly appreciate the favour.

Husond: Thanks very much for your support at my RfA. Unfortunately, it was clear that no consensus was going to be reached, and I have withdrawn the request at a final tally of 31/17/4. Thanks for your input!

Thank you for taking part in my RfA. The RfA was not successful, mostly because I did a pretty bad job of presenting myself. I'll run again sometime in the next few months, in the hopes that some will reconsider.

In the meantime, one of the projects I'm working on is A Wikimedia Administrator's Handbook. This is a wikibook how-to guide intended to help new administrators learn the ropes, as well as to simply "demystify" what adminship entails. If you are an administrator, please help out with writing it, particularly on the technical aspects of the tools. Both administrators and non-administrators are welcome to help link in and sort all of the various policies regarding the use of these tools on wikipedia in particular (as well as other projects: for example, I have almost no experience with how things work on wiktionary or wikinews). Users who are neither familiar with policy or the sysop tools could be of great help by asking questions about anything that's unclear. The goal is to get everything together in one place, with a narrative form designed to anticipate the reader's next question.

A second project, related but not entailed, is a book on wikimedia in general, with a history of how various policies evolved over time, interesting trivia (e.g., what the heck was "wikimoney" about?), and a history of how the wikimedia foundation itself came about and the larger issues that occurred during its history (such as the infamous "Spanish Fork").

Again, thanks for your input on the RfA, and thanks in advance for any help you might be able to provide for the handbook. --SB_Johnny|talk|books 13:30, 13 November 2006 (UTC)Reply

Soap opera popular couples

I assume that when you deleted this you didn't know that it was originally "List of soap opera popular couples" and was listed at Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/List of soap opera popular couples. The original author User:MrKing84 moved it, then blanked it and tagged it as a speedy delete. I closed the AfD and deleted the redirect. After that he went and prodded several (speedy tagged one) articles in violation of WP:POINT. I've left him a warning but would ask that you keep an eye on him as I'm going to be gone for a week. Russell Brand Article

The Russell Brand article contains a large section titled 'Rape Claims', Russell Brand was in no way involved in this supposed rape. He was never accused or convicted of the rape and someone else was arrested for it. The section is one of the longest on the Russell Brand article, which is bad becuase Brand has had a successful career and the rape claim has no relevance or significance to him. The rape claims part first appeared a few months ago and was deleted and it made the article better but someone continues to re-add it. In my opinion the section is very long, irrelevant and inaccurate, my argument has been backed up in the Russell Brand disscussion page yet no-one has took notice of the criticism. I therefore think the section should not be there, the person actually arrested for the rape Trevor Lock has no mention of it in his article and I believe it has been added because of how successful he is and to tarnish his name. Hopefully you will understand where Im coming from and I hope you agree with me as this I believe will make the article better. 81.153.9.118 00:19, 14 November 2006 (UTC)Reply

Portals

Hey Husond, since you did such a great job on Portal:Iceland, I was wondering whether you could take some time out of your busy administrative duties (:p) to review some changes I've made to Portal:Chemistry? The changes I've made are in the history. I've also got some major changes in my sandbox, awaiting approval. Let me know what you think - I personally find the version in my sandbox to have an appropriate amount of information, but it does seem a little dense. Hope you're doing well. Cheers, riana_dzasta 03:46, 16 November 2006 (UTC)Reply

Thanks Husond, I'm glad you liked the changes! So you don't think there's too much information or anything? I'd like to see it reach featured status, but I'll have to consult with others in the Chemistry WikiProject to see what they think. It's quite well-maintained, it just needed a bit of redecorating, that's all :) Portal:Basque looks very good. Maybe a small section on history? riana_dzasta 01:40, 17 November 2006 (UTC)Reply

Idle chit chat

Hey Husond, we've not spoken in a while which is a shame, I've been busy in real life. And I don't care what those bloody exclusionists do, I'm talking to you here, and I don't need coffee, nor a lounge to do it. Anyway, I'm father of two now, my Wikison's I pit together in a epic fight for my attention (please don't tell child support), and it's quite fun. Like the Simpson's or something only with much more swears and personal attacks (please don't tell child support). I re-structured my page (so did you, I miss the Kracken and Card-boardy and Deputy Dog, tower looks great though) and by that I mean I moved all my junk to my FAQ section. My "pictures" still take pride of place though. I successfully got Vandal proof yesterday, but I'm still learning how to use it effectively. I like doing vandalism patrol because it's Damn funny. I crack up whenever I see: OMG! I HAV THIS FREND AND HE IZ LIK E GAY! LOL! LOLOLOLOL! Gold. I feel over stretched, so much to do and little time to do it. I'm in the process of getting my 85 or so pictures reviewed. It could get messy. See you around, Dfrg.msc 1 . 2 . 3 22:50, 18 November 2006 (UTC)Reply

Get down!
Don't worry about the Stealing Your Tower Idea, it's bound to happen at some point. You know my Navigation panel, at least two users have already riped it off. All my user boxes have just been dumped in my FAQ section, along with everything else. So those Platypus, can nick off, worst designed animal ever. I did not know that you had a sister, I've one too, her interests include tieing up the internet and putting up with me. I can't believe your cigarette carton got deleted. My Goat is still here, I think it got nominate for deletion, but forgotten about, uploaded it first then a few others reinstated it until it stuck. I've been using vandal proof, but on dial-up, it takes five minutes for the possibility of a rollback, and someone else gets it. I'll stick with Lupin's until I "fix" my internet. Soon. That cow thing is pretty good, the Vandalism paradox is better, I think. Shame the Coffee Lounge got the Axe, whats next? Shame about Steve Urwin, though he was more famous overseas than here, we Australians, by general rule, don't care much about anything. Save cricket/football. Footy! Footy (Monkey noises)! How's life as an admin? Do you feel like a maid? "I just tidied up this mess!" I was going to Caption Comp again about now, but they burned the house and salted the earth. This image, would have been great. See you around, Dfrg.msc 1 . 2 . 3 09:18, 20 November 2006 (UTC)Reply
Horay! I love that little guy and his dog. Where can I put it? I found you had sister(s) because I whent back through your logs to find Ciggy, one said "image uploaded by Husond's Sister".I mean, I have my ways. What are pop-ups? Dfrg.msc 1 . 2 . 3 02:12, 21 November 2006 (UTC)Reply

Also, is ti bad form to kind of, personally talk to vandals. Try to help them? I know were supposed to be a phalanx of standardized templates, and warnings, but, this particular vandal called Michael (insert generic last name here) a "gay fag" on a school article. This is quite a common mistake, calling someone a "gay fag" is a double negative meaning the Mick is straight. I expressed this to the vandal. He seemed confused and went away. Is this wrong to do? Dfrg.msc 1 . 2 . 3 09:45, 21 November 2006 (UTC)Reply
Ciggy's gone. I agree, sometimes I just want to say: look, you misspelt "doing". Go work on that and come back, and we'll try this again. Or, my dog could do better vandalism than that. You should really write: Vandalism for Dummies. I'll even help you. Tip #398: Playing re-direct musical chairs can lead to humorous and explosive results. #972: Go for little edited articles; it may be the only attention they get. And so on. I tried Popups, doesn't seem to be working. Perhaps it conflicts with the Admin-like powers, Glen gave me. Which reminds me, I've go to go get a template.... Dfrg.msc 1 . 2 . 3 05:03, 22 November 2006 (UTC)Reply

CONJECTURE

In the article regarding Owen Chase there is a speculation of a ghost writer. Fine, as long as it conveys well that it is mere conjecture and not factual. I inserted "Perhaps" because it isn nothing but conjecture and not a known fact. That is not a "test" for a sandbox, it is a statement covering that the facts are not known in that conjectural area of that article.
