Page feedback

edit

Hi! I wanted to give you some feedback on your page.

  • The first thing is that the article lacks a lead. By lead I mean something like "This article lists the homeless services in Snohomish County, Washington.", followed by a very general overview of the article. It currently lacks this and there's not really anything else in the article that would serve in this fashion very well.
  • Some of the sentences are choppy - here's an example from the first section:
Homelessness numbers have increase 65% in the last two years for Snohomish County alone. Making the area one of the largest at risk increased areas in the entire Northwest.
This is a little choppy and the second sentence needs to be linked to the first, since it's a sentence fragment. You also need to be careful about taking too much of an essay tone with this - I think that the definition of what constitutes a homeless person isn't necessary here since we can link to the article on homelessness and it also makes it a little too much like an essay. It's very aesthetically pleasing so I'm a little sad to say that it shouldn't be in the article, but it doesn't fit Wikipedia's writing style. I'd say that the above example could be re-written as follows:
The homeless population in Snohomish County have increased by 65% in the last two years, making it one of the largest at risk areas in the entire Northwest that has experienced such an increase.
  • I'm concerned about the article's sourcing. Some of it is primary, meaning that it was created/released by the county's government or organizations/people that are affiliated with the county. There's local coverage, which tends to be greatly depreciated on Wikipedia as far as notability giving goes. While homelessness is certainly an important topic, the article has to establish how this specific area is notable enough for its own article, outside of the main Snonomish article. Be careful, as things like the county receiving aid from notable organizations or people does not give the topic notability. For example, the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation giving aid does not show notability here, especially as this organization is amazingly generous and gives out quite a bit of money.

On a positive note, the graphs are nice and those are very well done! Let me know if I can help you with anything! Shalor (Wiki Ed) (talk) 17:09, 6 February 2018 (UTC)Reply

In the future, it would be helpful to others if you described your changes to Wikipedia with an accurate edit summary. If this was a mistake, don't worry; the removed content has been restored. If you would like to experiment, please use the sandbox. If you think I made a mistake, or if you have any questions, you can leave me a message on my talk page.
