Using semicolons to bold

edit

Per your edits to Malibu (Miley Cyrus song), please don't use semicolons to bold per WP:PSEUDOHEAD. This is no longer correct to do for anything other than a single-entry description list. Bold is also preferred for screen readers, or smaller headings can be used. Ss112 11:23, 2 July 2017 (UTC)Reply

@Ss112: Alright, I'll bear that in mind. Thanks. Hayman30 (talk) 14:55, 2 July 2017 (UTC)Reply

iOS 11 Latest Preview Software Release Template

edit

Why do you revert all the edits in this template? The developer beta is more important than the Public one, so we must add the developer one. –User:Dimsar01 talk 19:51, 2 July 2017 (UTC)Reply

@Dimsar01: That's apparently your opinion. We should discuss and generate a clear consensus before making any controversial and significant changes to an article or template. I'd also like to get LocalNet to join the discussion on the template's talk page. Hayman30 (talk) 23:16, 2 July 2017 (UTC)Reply

Did You See

That IP editor/Hadji87 does not seem to be getting the fact that the article has virtually no worthwhile information besides peaks and fails WP:NSONGS; they appear to have restored Did You See. Ss112 17:31, 4 July 2017 (UTC)Reply

Hagar

edit
  • I'd already decided to amend the writing, more educationally explanatory for anyone who doesn't realise that 'to take a wife' in old testament language actually = just sex, sometimes rape - rather than what we might now think of, some kind've ceremony, all happy consensual. In translation the original Bible meanings have been lost or altered which denies a modern student the full picture. — Preceding unsigned comment added by AmyMoosey (talkcontribs) 11:08, 5 July 2017 (UTC)Reply

Tagging of Butler Dispatch

edit

I recently removed a speedy delete tag that you had placed on Butler Dispatch. I do not think that Butler Dispatch fits any of the speedy deletion criteria  because "one of the largest online news sources for several large television networks." is a claim of significance and there are other claims present as well.. I request that you consider not re-tagging Butler Dispatch for speedy deletion without discussing the matter on the appropriate talk page. DES (talk)DESiegel Contribs 13:04, 5 July 2017 (UTC)Reply

@DESiegel: I don't think that'd be a credible claim with their own website and Facebook pages as sources, especially with the COI editor. Hayman30 (talk) 13:15, 5 July 2017 (UTC)Reply
Please re-read WP:CSD#A7 and WP:CCS. A claim of significance need not be supported by any sources at all. The sourcing does not matter for purposes of A7. If a search might find sources supporting such a claim, that is good enough, even if the article is totally without cited sources. Please do not tag for A7 based on the quality of sources in future. Pratik Dnyaneshwar Patil (Bunty)

edit

WP:CSD#G1 (Patent nonsense) specifies pages consisting entirely of incoherent text or gibberish with no meaningful content or history. It does not cover poor writing, partisan screeds, obscene remarks, implausible theories, vandalism or hoaxes, fictional material, coherent non-English material, or poorly translated material. ... In short, if you can understand it, G1 does not apply. This page may be about a non-notable person. It may be unencylopedic. Perhaps it should be deleted via AfD or PROD. But it is not G1 Patent Nonsense, and it should not be blanked as such. DES (talk)DESiegel Contribs 15:04, 5 July 2017 (UTC)Reply

@DESiegel: I didn't refer to G1, I simply said that those paragraphs are nonsense. I doubt that those duplicated paragraphs about Lorem Ipsum are meaningful, or related to the topic at all, they're clearly a placeholder. That's why I don't see anything wrong with my blanking of those sections. And I can't believe that you literally reverted through two of my edits without actually looking at what I did with the first one. Hayman30 (talk) 15:17, 5 July 2017 (UTC)Reply
As I read the article, it is describing the use of Lorem Ipsum as a technique in mocking up web pages. That is not a mere placeholder. I apologize for reverting your perfectly valid correction of the level 1 header -- that was an error on my part. Thank you for reinstating it. I still don't think blanking is helpful in this case, but perhaps there is a case to be made for it. DES (talk)DESiegel Contribs 15:41, 5 July 2017 (UTC)Reply
Another editor found that the whole thing was a copyvio (which i didn't really expect) sand I have deleted it as such. DES (talk)DESiegel Contribs 15:47, 5 July 2017 (UTC)Reply

iPhone 7

Hi there! I have a question. I just looked at the iPhone 7 article, and noticed that in the wikitext, the photo for "Comparison of ports" is located in the Hardware section, but in the actual article, it is located in the Issues section, along with every other photo. Is this just an issue with my screen or are you noticing this too? LocalNet (talk) 07:21, 10 July 2017 (UTC)Reply

Lysvincent

edit

Do you actually know Lysvincent in real life? An editor claiming to be Lysvincent is saying you know him and that they "told [you] everything". I don't particularly care to respond there because that long rant isn't going to convince anybody or help them get unblocked, but I just thought I'd ask. Ss112 10:12, 10 July 2017 (UTC)Reply

Also was just thinking that if you know them in real life, you might ask them to stop editing with IPs or just in general—it's not helping their case, as Yamla blocked that IP for block evasion as well. Ss112 08:05, 12 July 2017 (UTC)Reply

(talk page stalker) Finding reliable sources that are independent of the college and that cover it in some detail would indeed help (after you have dealt with your block, of course). Currently I don't see there's much to be said about this college; redirecting the page to the parent university may be a better idea than having a stand-alone article. Your recent reversion to Conor Newton

edit

You reverted a contribution by 171.33.200.214‎ here, and warned the IP user. Although this user is a frequent vandal and is on the edge of being blocked, in that case the change was correct. It was incomplete (the signing should have been in the career section too) and it's been updated again, but still... is there a protocol for reverting a warning? I've recently been doing a lot of WP:RCP, and I've probably issued incorrect warnings myself. David Brooks (talk) 00:54, 14 July 2017 (UTC)Reply

@DavidBrooks: The IP did not cite a reliable source when making the change, and that's probably why I reverted their change I believe, should've gone with the unsourced warning instead. I don't think warnings can be reverted but I usually just replace them with {{ow}}. Hayman30 (talk) 05:59, 14 July 2017 (UTC)Reply

Such a significant change could be controversial, so I'd suggest you to first discuss with other editors on the article's talk page in order to generate consensus. You should also provide a reliable source, something you've read in real life that cannot be found on the Internet is generally not accepted. Please familiarize yourself with WP:V. Thank you. Mike Kanellis

How is changing his name to the name he goes by on WWE Television each week unconstructive? He's seen more on Smackdown more so than he ever was by his given name on RoH or Impact. That's the name most will search when looking him up. That's the name I searched to get here and tripped over this error. By this logic, Hulk Hogan should be listed as Terry Bolea, The Undertaker should be listed as Mark Calaway, Sting as Steve Borden and so on. Evalas618 (talk) 02:49, 20 July 2017 (UTC)Reply

Request for context

edit

Hi Hayman30. I was wondering (as an admin) whether you could provide any background context about this, this, this, this, this and any others. Thanks. -- zzuuzz (talk) 19:30, 24 July 2017 (UTC)Reply

@Zzuuzz: I believe it all started with literally a single revert I made on Cash (Chinese coin) two weeks ago. An IP user, who appears to be a recent major contributor to the article, moved a bunch of see also links into the body without specifically explaining why besides that they're editing on mobile, which doesn't make sense either since you can't edit the whole article or multiple sections at the same time on mobile. After that I received immediate personal attack (1, 2). There's also a discussion on the article's talk page that you could refer to in case it might be useful. Hayman30deservestodie is likely a sock of the IP user, as there's a image of Chineses coin on their user page from what I can recall. I never know Brain-made-out-of-Hayman30, Codename Alex, Widr 2 and Sunshine Alexi existed, but they're apparently also their socks, it's pretty obvious with them giving each other random barnstars and continuous claims of me not assuming good faith, not respecting mobile users and whatnot. They're also archiving talk page messages like a boss after they started using new IPs, although there's virtually nothing to archieve. I don't understand why they can't move on. Hayman30 (talk) 10:27, 25 July 2017 (UTC)Reply
Thanks for the info. We had a Chinese money troll several years ago.. some quite strange behaviour. I'll knock these on the head - they might resurface but hopefully won't become a long term problem. -- zzuuzz (talk) 12:00, 25 July 2017 (UTC)Reply

I am the person who made some of those accounts though I did ask my friends to help too. I know that it sound odd but the reason why I did it was because Hayman30 never apologized and the deservestodie part referred to the anti mobile mentality of users as him not to the editor himself but if you all really perceive this as a problem then I will stop creating accounts and only edit as an IP but all I really want is an apology for the WP:BADFAITH reverts by this user. I will stop making accounts anyhow the reason I made more was because the ones with Widr in the name got blocked before I could even ask a question and the reason my IP is never the same is because I travel a lot for my work and edit occasionally while on a break. At least I hope that this can be resolved in a civil manner and the reason I got more aggressive was because my image got deleted based on a false copyright claim by @Daphne Pontier: or whatever despite literally my accounts asking why I constantly got blocked. For the record I am not Codename Alex that is the husband of a friend I am the rest. If only one person told me why I got blocked with Widr 2 which I only named as that as a reminder why I even made an account I would have never made more. Is an apology for a nonsense revert really too much to ask for? I never vandalized a single article. 2405:4800:1484:915E:BC16:D63F:761E:5FE8 (talk) 10:39, 27 July 2017 (UTC)Reply

Reverting my edit on Glorious (Macklemore song)

edit

For the change I made, a reference or citation should not be required. I merely corrected the article which mistakenly indicated a 3 piece horn section. Simply watching the performance in question, or following the already provided reference to view a screenshot, shows 4 people with brass instruments. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 204.83.72.229 (talkcontribs) 08:53, 26 July 2017 (UTC) ** Correction, the screenshot shows 1 of the members with a guitar, but he does play trumpet as well during the performance, which can be seen here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Z-_ub09u3wo&t=3m45sReply

There's no such thing as "a reference or citation should not be required". Verifiability, not truth. Billboard magazine is a fairly reliable source in the music industry, so I wouldn't question its accuracy. Moreover, as far as I can tell, the member in white shirt you're talking about is a "guitarist *slash* percussionist" as Kaufman claimed, so I guess he doesn't count. You recently undid a one word change that I made. The line "iOS 11 switches the top-left cellular network strength icons from five dots to four signal bars, similar to that before iOS 7.[43]" [1] is incorrect. There are five signal bars, not four. If you're curious, feel free to google "iOS 11" and you will see for yourself. Change it back if you want wikipedia to have correct information. Hello user editing from 73.24.96.142, your change was removed because it's not supported by a reliable source. The sentence is also absolutely correct, I'm pretty sure there are four signal bars not five, the current source says four as well. Literally all images on Google are showing 4 signal bars, you might want to double check. And yes, I really want to maintain the correctness of information on Wikipedia, and that's why I reverted your change. If you've got multiple reliable sources to explicitly verify that there are actually five signal bars, feel free to come back and make the change again. Hayman30 (talk) 17:09, 27 July 2017 (UTC)Reply
Also pinging LocalNet in case he might be interested.
Hey! AppleInsider states "four", and the image used in their article also has four bars. *However*, that article was about the June 9, 2017 beta. That's a pretty long time ago, and I think there have been several beta releases since then. It's possible that Apple has updated it with five in a newer beta, but that's not what our sources say. Verifiability is more important on Wikipedia than the truth, even as odd as that sounds for an "encyclopedia" :P LocalNet (talk) 17:19, 27 July 2017 (UTC)Reply
@LocalNet: Thanks for stopping by, I'm pretty sure it has not been changed since the first beta. I've took a quick look at build release articles on the Internet just now, none of them mentioned the signal bars. Moreover, I'm currently on the fourth developer beta as well, which is the latest preview version I believe, and it's showing four of them. Hayman30 (talk) 17:32, 27 July 2017 (UTC)Reply

Hi,

The content has been removed because it lacks historical authenticity and it was far from actual truth and reality. Since it was casting untrue negative aspersions on and vilification of highly revered historical hero like Pratapaditya ,the veracity of such content must be backed with such strong references whose historical authenticity must be undoubtedly true and based on well researched facts. The research and study of academicians and historians do not support the veracity of this content. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Hindu.Bengali (talkcontribs) 10:08, 3 August 2017 (UTC)Reply

More Mess

edit

Hey Hayman30, I just created the redirect More Mess and saw More Mess (song) already existed. Just letting you know, if you're going to create an article for it, it should probably be at a less disambiguated namespace, as there's no other article of that name (so there's no need for the "(song)"). An apology.

Removing genres

edit

Hi User:Hayman30, if there's a reliable source for a genre it should be in a "Composition" section ideally. The term "dance" is only acceptable for articles of artists whose music covers a multitude of rhythmic, uptempo genres, it's just too broad to be meaningful in song articles. It's much more useful to name specific genres when possible (User:Life of Tau knows a lot about this if you want to find out more).--Theo Mandela (talk) 08:13, 13 August 2017 (UTC)Reply

@Theo Mandela: That's clearly your personal preference and opinion. I was messaging you about your behavior of removing genres without actually looking at the sources listed on the page, assuming that they're unsourced simply because the source is not placed inside the infobox. Hey, I recently created a draft of the upcoming LG V30. It would be great if you could help expand it. Thanks. Darius robin (talk) 16:19, 16 August 2017 (UTC)Reply

@Darius robin: Hello. The newsroom source says "next flagship smartphone from LG Electronics", they never implied that it is the V30, meaning that the entire article is a blatant violation of WP:CRYSTAL. You are merely guessing that the next phone from V lineup is called the V30. I'd suggest you to stop working on the draft until there is more verifiable information available. Transdev in Burnley and Pendle

edit

Please stop reverting my edits, and stop calling them 'unsourced'. I have put two sources into my edit description that do state that Transdev in Burnley & Pendle are now known as 'The Burnley Bus Company'. If you still for whatever reason think I'm making stuff up, they have even changed their livery: https://www.flickr.com/photos/60505704@N04/36216287661. I don't think it would be feasible to put Twitter and Flickr links as sources, plus Harrogate Bus Company has been changed. I'm just trying to keep Wikipedia up to date. If you want to do it, fair enough. But please stop unnecessarily reverting my edits.

ATT page

edit

Dear Hayman30

I have updated the Wikipedia page of the Association of Taxation this week. It is an accurate and fair description of the organisation. I would be interested to learn why you keep reverting the page to an older version, which is now inaccurate. The risk with you changing the page to an old version is that it misleads the public about the ATT today. Can I request that you do not edit this page, again?

Best,

Hamant Verma — Preceding unsigned comment added by 185.13.110.164 (talk) 09:52, 24 August 2017 (UTC)Reply

No, you couldn't potentially prevent anyone from editing pages. Your revision was reverted because it was written like an advertisement. Encyclopedic content should be written from a neutral point of view. At the same time, please do not restore your changes right away without giving any explanation whatsoever, after they're reverted. You should discuss your changes and generate consensus on the article's talk page. Hayman30 (talk) 10:06, 24 August 2017 (UTC)Reply

Hi Hayman30. On the page https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Burton_L._Mack is an external link to a 404. I have no idea where a replacement may be. And, if you actually do get to the bio referenced, I would like to know. I'm interested in reading it. Meantime, if you cannot reach the link (as I cannot), shouldn't it be removed? I do not know how you define "constructive," but pointing out that a link does not work seems constructive to me. Clearly, I did/do not know the proper protocol to to call attention to this problem ... if you see it as a problem. When you checked this bad link, did you just look to see that a page came up, or did you look to see if it had a bio for Burton Mack? When I first tried it, no bio came up; when I tried again, no bio came up. Did you really find a bio? — Preceding unsigned comment added by 68.228.196.10 (talk) 09:34, 25 August 2017 (UTC)Reply

"club banger" does not mean that it is an EDM sons, means that it could be easily played in clubs, while here, on an even more reliable source, it says "in his trap music element", so it is like that, i add some sources to make it even clear --Rideordieyoung (talk) 14:28, 29 August 2017 (UTC)Reply

@Rideordieyoung: It refers to club music there, which is basically EDM. "In his trap music element" does not directly imply it's trap music. You did not add any source. Hayman30 (talk) 14:31, 29 August 2017 (UTC)Reply
no it doesnt, look here if u dont know what a "club banger" is please--Rideordieyoung (talk) 14:35, 29 August 2017 (UTC)Reply
@Rideordieyoung: Yes it does. Urban dictionary is unreliable. "Trap" is improperly sourced since the author did not directly imply it's a trap song. Hayman30 (talk) 14:41, 29 August 2017 (UTC)Reply
Ok, i can give you tons of other sources about "club banger", 1, 2, and i added 2 other sources that are saying that is a trap song, what are u sayin??--Rideordieyoung (talk) 14:46, 29 August 2017 (UTC)Reply
@Rideordieyoung: Both sources are invalid, HotNewHipHop quoted Urban Dictionary while abbreviations.com couldn't find any results. Both of the sources you added to the article does not directly imply it's a trap song. Lindsey India of XXL wrote: "...in his trap music element", while Nick Mojica of The Boombox wrote: "...the trap-inspired track", doesn't necessarily mean it's a trap song. In order to support your improperly sourced genre, sources will have to say something like: "It's a trap ballad". It'll have to be expressed in a straightforward manner. New Page Reviewer granted

edit

Hello Hayman30. Your account has been added to the "New page reviewers" user group, allowing you to review new pages and mark them as patrolled, tag them for maintenance issues, or in some cases, tag them for deletion. The list of articles awaiting review is located at the New Pages Feed. New page reviewing is a vital function for policing the quality of the encylopedia, if you have not already done so, you must read the new tutorial at New Pages Review, the linked guides and essays, and fully understand the various deletion criteria. If you need more help or wish to discuss the process, please join or start a thread at page reviewer talk.

  • URGENT: Please consider helping get the huge backlog down to a manageable number of pages as soon as possible.
  • Be nice to new users - they are often not aware of doing anything wrong.
  • You will frequently be asked by users to explain why their page is being deleted - be formal and polite in your approach to them too, even if they are not.
  • Don't review a page if you are not sure what to do. Just leave it for another reviewer.
  • Remember that quality is quintessential to good patrolling. Take your time to patrol each article, there is no rush. Use the message feature and offer basic advice.

The reviewer right does not change your status or how you can edit articles. If you no longer want this user right, you may ask any administrator to remove it for you at any time. In case of abuse or persistent inaccuracy of reviewing, the right can be revoked at any time by an administrator. Alex ShihTalk 14:38, 7 September 2017 (UTC)Reply

Pages that fail WP:NALBUMS

edit

Hey Hayman, I've noticed in the past, you've redirected several pages for failing WP:NALBUMS—you seem to have a knack for spotting/finding them. I redirected several of the articles created by a user (Sidewalkfins87) semi-recently for failing the notability requirements and they recreated them yesterday. I was wondering if you could take a look at them and see if they pass any kind of measure, or maybe redirect them yourself if they do/add them to your watchlist to monitor if they're recreated? I could do it myself, but I don't have a grudge against this user, so I don't want to give the impression I do by picking on their articles. Asking as you're impartial. Thanks. Ss112 15:17, 15 September 2017 (UTC)Reply

@Ss112: I've redirected those they've restored recently. They appear to cite the same websites that are apparently closely affiliated with the record label (ipecac.com, label's official website; orlprojects.bandcamp.com, label's page on the online music store) on all of those articles. I've also went through their comments on user talk pages, to all appearances, they lack basic understanding of policies on notability, despite your attempts at explaining the situation, and is upset because what they've "spent hours upon hours building" was removed. Hopefully this won't escalate into an edit war. Hayman30 (talk) 06:42, 16 September 2017 (UTC)Reply

Yeah Hayman, I've got to say, I took a squiz at your contributions earlier after you changed where my Macklemore redirects pointed to (no issue with that, just pointing out when and why I did it) and saw you created that. I thought maybe you were confusing pop music shorthand for an artist's upcoming album (abbreviate the letters of the artist's name and append the number album it is of theirs; for instance, Nicki Minaj's upcoming album has been called "NM4") for the actual title. Alone (Jessie Ware song)

edit

I've already provided valid sources confirming Alone as the third single from Glasshouse, so why do you keep reverting it?--Librious (talk) 12:37, 24 September 2017 (UTC)Reply

@Librious: Yes, it's the third single from the album, but that doesn't mean it's not a promotional single. Singles that are made available for purchase alongside the album announcement are classified as promotional singles. In this case, "Alone" is was released alongside the announcement of Glasshouse, thus is a promotional single from the album, but not a standalone single like "Midnight" and "Selfish Love". Hayman30 (talk) 12:40, 24 September 2017 (UTC)Reply
@Hayman30: Following your logic, "Look What You Made Me Do" should be classified as a promotional single as well, that doesn't make any sense. Yes, "Alone" was released as promotional, but it's now confirmed as the third official single, so it shouldn't be classified just as promotional anymore, thus the edits I've made.--Librious (talk) 14:10, 24 September 2017 (UTC)Reply
@Librious: That's not "my logic", I didn't define what is meant by the term "promotional single", therefore I don't really care whether it makes sense or not. Being the "third official single" doesn't mean it couldn't be a promotional single. It's the third single released off Glasshouse, but at the same time it was released in promotion of Glasshouse, as you admitted, thus should be classified as a promotional single. By the way, no need to ping me on this page, this is my talk page. Hayman30 (talk) 10:27, 25 September 2017 (UTC)Reply
And where does it say that promotional singles have more relevance than official ones?--Librious (talk) 15:51, 25 September 2017 (UTC)Reply

@Livelikemusic: I have absolutely no clue why you feel about me that way, or how you are feeling "attacked". This table on MOS:DATE clearly indicates that a comma after the year is only required for mm-dd-yy dates, and MOS:COMMA directly implies that the comma is only required for "dates in month–day–year format", not sure what your issue is here. It's really none of my business if you decide to not edit any article I've edited and put on a drama, you're just trying to put me in bad light. I largely avoid having personal conflicts with other editors, and I don't want this one to start. Hayman30 (talk) 13:50, 20 October 2017 (UTC)Reply

Migos

edit

Please tell me how "Too Hotty" isn't a Migos as a featured artist.

Just letting you know I'm going to re add it on there. We can go back and forth all day bro. Jay2020 (talk) 15:08, 24 October 2017 (UTC)Reply

@Jay2020: No. Doing such is considered edit warring. Please discuss before you add it back. Hayman30 (talk) 15:13, 24 October 2017 (UTC)Reply
@Hayman30: I provided a source to show that its a Migos song. Not a individual feature.

http://www.billboard.com/music/quavo if you look under his page on billboard it's not on there.

@Jay2020: It doesn't matter how Billboard handled the credits for charts. Reliable sources on the song's page are confirming that the song is no longer a Migos song but instead, individual features. Hayman30 (talk) 15:22, 24 October 2017 (UTC)Reply
@Hayman30: Well it should it go under guest appearances then. Right? Since their individual features are included on there.
@Jay2020: I suppose. Also, no need to mention me on this page, this is my user talk page. Hayman30 (talk) 15:27, 24 October 2017 (UTC)Reply

Okay cool. I'm glad we came to a mutual agreement.

Hello;

I've seen your reverted edits and I think you were wrong about that. I have undid your edits again, because even if genius is "crowdsourced", it still provides a reliable source to the website. I was gonna include a citation but you have removed it before I did that. Thank you for notifying me anyways --2001:8F8:172D:FB6:E55E:7BCE:A657:5895 (talk) 09:45, 29 October 2017 (UTC)Reply

Please stop this nonsense, as you did at How Long (Charlie Puth song), How am I not citing a reliable source? Don't try to act smart by saying "Genius is crowdsourced, thus is not considered a reliable source" Why don't you tell me how is this website crowdsourced instead of explaining your bullshit of yours!! --2001:8F8:172D:FB6:E55E:7BCE:A657:5895 (talk) 09:58, 29 October 2017 (UTC)Reply

Shockandawe

edit

Just noting to you, in case you missed it, that the user BlaccCrab has changed Shockandawe from "single" to "song", as you created the article content. I've restored it, as The Fader source calls it a single, but, well, these things do get changed quite frequently sometimes, as happened with the singles from Imagine Dragons' Evolve and Maroon 5's Red Pill Blues. Regarding "adding Taylor Swift as producer on Look What You Made Me Do"

edit

Thanks for letting me know about my mistake there, but I don't think I should add source there because it is listed in album liner notes (here; https://www.discogs.com/Taylor-Swift-Reputation/release/11113712) and also in Reputation (Taylor Swift album). So, it's a common thing and don't think we should add a source. Rezistant (talk) 14:27, 11 November 2017 (UTC)Reply

Kids in Love (Kygo album)

edit

Hi. I was just wondering, are you considering creating this article? If you are, please create it at Kids in Love (Kygo album). I know you created Kids in Love (album), but a while ago I noticed the Mowgli's had an album of the same name and was surprised it didn't have an article, so I've been looking for sources the past few days (I even emailed Jennica about it earlier) to create one for it (probably not a very big one, but it charted on the Billboard 200 besides it all) with plans to imminently try to get a page going for that. I'm also asking because even if I weren't intending to create another article for an album titled Kids in Love, I would think admins would want to merge the history of Kids in Love (Kygo album) with another namespace if it were created (as the recreations and history are not exactly trivial), and that would just be creating another task for them to do. Ss112 08:31, 14 November 2017 (UTC)Reply

@Ss112: I've been drafting the article for a few days on my own and it's almost complete. My laptop broke and creating articles on mobile isn't enjoyable at all. I will probably create it at your desired namespace, you should know I don't give a crap about credits and stuff, so I'd be happy to cooperate. Hayman30 (talk) 08:59, 14 November 2017 (UTC)Reply
Oh, that sucks. Hope your computer troubles are sorted soon then! Ss112 09:43, 14 November 2017 (UTC)Reply

"Addiditonal information"

edit

Hi Hayman30,

I can see why you're mad that I'm "adding possibly wrong information" to your pages and articles about songs, but trust me, the information is correct. I am a composer in my free time and I have spent time to break down artist's music and study the chord progressions and stuff like that. I'm sorry if you felt that it is wrong information, but if you'd like, I can add back the information about the key/tempo of the songs.

War & Leisure

edit

I think you are wrong on the definition of notable albums for this album. I am not a fan or follower of Miguel, so I am not restoring the album because I am enamored by the artist or the album. There are several news articles that are about the album. I mentioned it in the last restoration edit summary, but for [1], the article title says "Miguel Announces Release Date For “War & Leisure”; Drops Video For “Told You So”". Thus, it is not a glancing message, it is the subject of the article. Same for the article from fader [2], where the title is "Miguel confirms new album release date, shares “Told You So”" An album does not have to have the notability of Rolling Stones Sticky Fingers to be listed in this encyclopedia, and the creator/developer of the War & Leisure article has done a sufficient job of proving notability for the article to remain. If you want to be helpful, instead of deleting, why not help build the article? Improve the references, find new ones. Please don't delete it again, it has proved itself notable enough to exist as a stub. Now it needs to grow into a start or a c class article. Mburrell (talk) 00:24, 26 November 2017 (UTC)Reply

User removing charts; help?

edit

Hey Hayman. I see sometimes when you create articles, you add charts and have a pretty good grasp of them, and you also edit articles the user Abi-Maria has. Anyway, today they've been on a "this isn't on WP:CHART so it's not reliable" editing spree, and they've been told to discuss and stop edit warring, and now reported to an admin. They've been given warnings in the past, and now another by me, and asked to follow WP:BRD. Would you be able to keep an eye out, and if you see this user continuing to blank large portions of charts from pages, revert and ask them to discuss? I get the feeling this user will just revert and never discuss. They have 2,000 edits and seem to think this is the way Wikipedia works. Thanks! Hey @SNUGGUMS: pinging you here instead of another full talk page message saying the same, they've done this on What About Us (Pink song) and I value your opinion as well. Can you help keep an eye out? Ss112 10:30, 27 November 2017 (UTC)Reply

@Ss112: I don't really know how charts work lol, but I'll certainly notify them if they've made any disruptive edits that I happen to come across or they went pass 3RR. Hayman30 (talk) 16:00, 27 November 2017 (UTC)Reply
Reping @SNUGGUMS: FYI, pings only go through if there is a new comment with a new signature. They don't work when you edit a previous comment.
I so far have seen nothing of major concern, and hopefully won't anytime soon. Something I will note for that page is that unless one specifically states otherwise, naming a nation in the lead implies it reached that range on its main chart. Snuggums (talk / edits) 16:37, 27 November 2017 (UTC)Reply
SNUGGUMS This also concerned me regarding the likes of Latvia, Poland, Croatia, Portugal, Lebanon, Czech Republic and Slovakia are airplay or digital charts, it is indeed misleading as they are not the country's official charts but I see Ss112 undid my edit for this. Abi-Maria (talk) 17:59, 27 November 2017 (UTC)Reply
@Abi-Maria: There was no misleading implication there, because I specifically changed the wording to say "topped charts", not "the charts" of each nation, which would imply they were the official charts of each nation. I didn't even add these to the lead; I didn't care. That was SNUGGUMS, as far as I'm aware. You need to stop being so pedantic about clarifying what is what, including on Perfect (Ed Sheeran song). It's getting tiring. Ss112 18:33, 27 November 2017 (UTC)Reply
I did add lots of places to the lead, but can't remember which ones were added by other users. In any case, while I removed anything that I knew was a component rather than a main chart, Abi-Maria, I admittedly am not entirely familiar with which charts are which for the places you've mentioned. When the component is in fact a legitimate one to mention at all, it's better for the tables instead of the lead unless perhaps there was some major achievement among the components. Snuggums (talk / edits) 18:39, 27 November 2017 (UTC)Reply
Ss112 It is very misleading to readers as they will believe these charts are the countries main charts when they are merely airplay or digital charts which is implying false information. Hardly pedantic. Abi-Maria (talk) 18:46, 27 November 2017 (UTC)Reply
@Abi-Maria: Having the parenthesised title and link to that chart's page telling us what type of chart it is is the point of having such a thing there. Now you look like you're following me to other songs' pages. You've never even edited Friends (Justin Bieber and BloodPop song) before, and now you're fighting about crap there. Drop it because this is hounding and holding a grudge. Ss112 18:48, 27 November 2017 (UTC)Reply
I am not fighting about anything actually. I am shocked at how quick you are to jump down my throat and throw around false accusations. you are undermining all my legitimate edits and baiting edit wars wherever I edit. You know very well you are in the wrong implying false information by not indicating that the said charts are not airplay charts and since when have TV airplay charts become a thing on Wikipedia? Are you joking?! Abi-Maria (talk) 18:54, 27 November 2017 (UTC)Reply
You edited the article for "Friends" mere minutes after I did despite never having edited it before. Are you actually meaning to imply you didn't edit that just because I recently did? And chose this time to suddenly start being pedantic about having very specific wording next to names of countries when we have links right next to the name of the country that explain what types of charts those charts are? Please. You must be joking if you expect me to believe that. I'm not going to continue to annoy Hayman with this pointless conversation and the notifications he gets on his talk page because of it. This is the same retread of a conversation we had on your talk page earlier. Don't follow users because you didn't get your way in an earlier dispute. That's what wikihounding is. If you're not, good, nothing to worry about. The chart crusade is getting really old. Ss112 18:56, 27 November 2017 (UTC)Reply
You have undid, found fault with nearly all of my edits recently so if there is anyone who is looking for conflict it is you. I saw the Friends article was in a bad state and edited it, I never undid anything or edited in a way that undermined your edit in anyway like you are constantly doing with me. Stop the bullshit and blatant lies. Abi-Maria (talk) 19:06, 27 November 2017 (UTC)Reply
I didn't say you undermined my edit. I said you edited the article directly after I did and found fault with things on it. It was hardly in a "bad state". You can stop your bullshit while you're at it. I'm done squabbling with you. Ss112 19:22, 27 November 2017 (UTC)Reply
I would suggest that you leave me alone and stop with the hounding while you're at it. I will take it to WP:ANI because I cannot even make a single edit on Wiki with the circumstances you are putting me under. Go take your frustrations out on someone else, thank you. Abi-Maria (talk) 19:39, 27 November 2017 (UTC)Reply

Deleting articles without discussion

edit

Hi, I noticed you deleted an article on a newly released album. Other editors restored it. You again deleted it. I restored it. You deleted it. This is not how en.Wikipedia works. It may not meet the technical criteria for EDITWARRING but it doesn't look good from the edit history. As it happens this newly released album would seem to only pass WP:GNG by celebrity of artists and looks like notoriety as a flop, but that's not the point. None of us gets to steamroller through our edits repeatedly, certainly not in repeatedly deleting an article we don't think notable. If you want to delete an article please use WP:PROD and if that is challenged then AFD like the rest of us. Cheers. In ictu oculi (talk) 08:55, 1 December 2017 (UTC)Reply

Wolves (Selena Gomez and Marshmello song)

edit

Hey, I know charts are not your area of focus but rather like a secondary concern, but can you keep an eye on the article for "Wolves"? Some IP is removing a Croatian peak, a chart published by Croatian Radiotelevision, a public broadcaster, claiming it's "not official". They also claimed a Czech chart published by the Czech branch of the biggest recording industry association in the world (the IFPI) is "not official". Seems to be just WP:IDON'TLIKEIT. edit

Hey Hayman30,

We can continue to undo each others work (you believe it is not notable, i believe it is) but it's an edit war. If you want to delete an article can I suggest you use WP:PROD and if that is challenged then AFD. Thank you. Tobyjamesaus (talk) 10:14, 21 December 2017 (UTC)Reply

@Tobyjamesaus: I really have no idea where you got the idea of "a song is notable if it charted on one or two weekly national charts and I add some links to its iTunes pages". You clearly have not read WP:NSONG thoroughly. It explicitly states on the page that ranking on national or significant music or sales charts indicates only that a song may be notable, not that it is notable. To quote the first line, "songs and singles are probably notable if they have been the subject of multiple, non-trivial published works whose sources are independent of the artist and label." Digital retailers do not fall into this category of sources, nor do chart publishers. I suggest you to review your understanding on notability guidelines before proving me wrong. This also isn't your first time, you have a traceable history of mass-creating stubs on unnotable songs, and I would urge you to stop doing so, not to mention that you have the autopatrolled flag. Song articles can be redirected if they are clearly do not pass NSONGS, especially when they don't even meet WP:GNG. Hayman30 (talk) 12:23, 21 December 2017 (UTC)Reply
@Hayman30: Thank you for your message. I understand the different between may and is and I respectfully disagree these songs are not notable. I have read and understand the criteria and I wasn't attempting to prove you wrong, merely saying let's not have an editing war and put AFD on them, which you've now done. We'll wait and see. Tobyjamesaus (talk) 04:14, 22 December 2017 (UTC)Reply

Échame la Culpa

edit

Hayman, I think you need to be a little chill yourself. Coming around four minutes after another editor has changed something that doesn't even matter is certainly not being "chill", it looks pedantic. Great, so you monitor your watchlist. It didn't need to be "fixed" and there's nothing to be consistent with in this regard. Ss112 10:45, 26 December 2017 (UTC)Reply

@Ss112: I was referring to the second edit on the consistent part, sorry if I mislead you on that. Yeah I'm pedantic, whatever, I was really concerned about that extra byte. Don't get overly triggered over something so minor. Hayman30 (talk) 10:54, 26 December 2017 (UTC)Reply
If we really want to go down that avenue, I'm pretty sure everybody on Wikipedia could be considered "triggered" when we talk about issues, revert somebody or basically edit at all since we're all here electing to spend our time collaborating on something we don't actually need to trying to make it better... (because to the Internet, caring = triggered) Ss112 10:58, 26 December 2017 (UTC)Reply
