Green archaeological excavation edit

This is an automated message from CorenSearchBot. I have performed a web search with the contents of Green archaeological excavation, and it appears to include a substantial copy of http://www.ecodig.org. For legal reasons, we cannot accept copyrighted text or images borrowed from other web sites or printed material; such additions will be deleted. You may use external websites as a source of information, but not as a source of sentences. See our copyright policy for further details.

This message was placed automatically, and it is possible that the bot is confused and found similarity where none actually exists. If that is the case, you can remove the tag from the article and it would be appreciated if you could drop a note on the maintainer's talk page. CorenSearchBot (talk) 21:40, 22 December 2009 (UTC)Reply

I upload this article at the request of Dr. Michael Eisenberg who wrote the original article in http://www.ecodig.org. There is no violation of any legal rights. You can check with the web site Hanay (talk) 21:49, 22 December 2009 (UTC)Reply
I see no release of rights on that page. LadyofShalott 22:12, 22 December 2009 (UTC)Reply
I am not familiar with the method how to do it. Please inform me, and I will take care of it. Thanks Hanay (talk) 22:19, 22 December 2009 (UTC)Reply
I see that you already deleted the article. patience it is good quality Hanay (talk) 22:23, 22 December 2009 (UTC)Reply
I deleted it because it was blatantly against our policies as it stood. For resolving that, I have asked for help at User talk:Moonriddengirl. She can help you with the copyright issue better than I can. However, I think there would be other problems with that as an article. I suggest you instead find independent reliable sources that discuss this matter, and create a new article rather than trying to copy that website. LadyofShalott 22:30, 22 December 2009 (UTC)Reply

How to verify copyright permission for article edit

Hello, Hanay.

Thank you for your interest in donating material from http://www.ecodig.org to Wikipedia. As copyright is a matter of legal concern, we must ensure that we not only protect the rights of copyright holders, but also guard the Wikipedia project against inadvertent infringement. The removal of such material is not necessarily permanent; it can be easily restored by an administrator once the permission process is complete.

The simplest approach is to place a release on that external website putting the material into public domain or co-licensing it under CC-BY-SA and GFDL, which permit modification and reuse, even commercially, as long as authorship credit is given. This release is irrevocable and must continue to be displayed, or the material may need to be removed. A statement such as the following would be sufficient: "The contents of this website (or page, if you are specifically releasing one section) are available for modification and reuse under the terms of the Creative Commons Attribution/Share-Alike License 3.0 and the GNU Free Documentation License, unversioned with no invariant sections, front-cover texts, or back-cover texts." If you decide to take this route, please note when the website is changed, and the article can be restored.

Alternatively, you may choose to ask Dr. Eisenberg to send an e-mail to the Wikimedia Foundation from an address associated with the original publication to permissions-en@wikimedia.org or a postal message to the Wikimedia Foundation permitting re-use under the CC-BY-SA and GFDL. There is a boilerplate release form at Wikipedia:Declaration of consent for all enquiries which can be helpful. Please ask him to provide a clear link to the website in his e-mail and specify by name the article on Wikipedia in which the material has been used. Once that e-mail is received and processed by a member of the Communications Committee, the article's contents will be restored if the release is legally sufficient.

However, as Ladyof Shalott notes, there is no guarantee that this material will be retained by Wikipedia. It may be necessary once permission is verified to address other concerns in the text, if it is otherwise inconsistent with our policies and guidelines. If you are not familiar with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines, you may wish to review Wikipedia:Your first article. It has some helpful information for people not familiar with the Wikipedia environment.

If you have any questions or comments, please feel free to let me know. I'll be watching your talk page for a time in case I can assist you. We also have a help desk which is typically manned around the clock by volunteers.

Thank you. --Moonriddengirl (talk) 22:39, 22 December 2009 (UTC)Reply

Moonriddengirl, OTRS ticket #2009121510065382 contains a valid permission in Hebrew. what's the appropriate template to use in the talk page? Tomer A. 05:04, 23 December 2009 (UTC)Reply
Dear Moonriddengirl, thank you for the explanation. I only did a favor to Dr. Eisenberg. I am familiar with Wikipedia policy. I wrote a lot of articles in Hebrew Wiki and also I built (with partners " Portal:Ancient Near East", in Hebrew of course :)). I will ask Dr Eisenberg to read User talk:Hanay. He will decide how to deal with it.Thanks again Hanay (talk) 05:11, 23 December 2009 (UTC)Reply
Thank you for the note. I missed that there were messages here. :) Tomer A., the template is {{PermissionOTRS}}. I have no hope of reading the release, but additional actions depend on the terms of the license. If the source is licensed under CC-By-SA only, a note should be made to that effect on the article's talk. For compliance, {{CCBYSASource}} should be used on the article. If the source is dually licensed, no additional note needs to be made at the article's talk, but {{Dual}} should be used on the article. I'll go ahead and restore the article under the "copyright" template pending your placement of that release. The article is currently tagged "Possible copyright infringement", but this is just until the verification is confirmed. Fortunately, Tomer can read it. :) --Moonriddengirl (talk) 18:11, 23 December 2009 (UTC)Reply
I've added both templates to the article. I'm not quite sure for the role of {{CCBYSASource}} and it seems somewhat redundant. The article was not taken from the other website. It was written in order to be published in both Wikipedia and the other website. in any case, Moonriddengirl, could you please verify that all templates were placed well? Tomer A. 07:29, 24 December 2009 (UTC)Reply
They seem to be correct, yes. The purpose of {{CCBYSASource}} is to provide clear attribution for an author who has not released content into public domain, but only licensed it for reuse. As you know, the standard place to look for authorship is in the article's history. The article's history suggests that the material was authored by Hanay. If as Hanay says at the article's talk page, "I upload this article at the request of Dr. Michael Eisenberg who wrote the original article in http://www.ecodig.org," we need to be careful to give credit. If we don't attribute material donated under CC-By-SA and GFDL, we are in violation of license and hence copyright. --Moonriddengirl (talk) 11:43, 24 December 2009 (UTC)Reply

Template edit

Hey, I removed {{work}} from the green archaeology article. You should only use that template when you are working on the article right at that moment. It's telling others "I'm busy working on this right now; please don't mess me up". It's not something to stick on there and be gone for four or more hours afterward. :) LadyofShalott 14:22, 24 December 2009 (UTC)Reply

In Hebrew wiki when I upload an article they give me time without interfering to improve the article. I can put a template at work. Only after a week if I did nothing, someone will remove the template. This is good policy, why here it is different? Hanay (talk) 17:51, 24 December 2009 (UTC)Reply
We have such a template, but it is different: {{underconstruction}}. That's the one for use of up to a week. The one you used is for immediate use only. LadyofShalott 14:04, 26 December 2009 (UTC)Reply
Thank you Hanay (talk) 16:27, 26 December 2009 (UTC)Reply

Proposed deletion of Green archaeological excavation edit

The article Green archaeological excavation has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:

Copypaste of a non-notable "approach".

While all contributions to Wikipedia are appreciated, content or articles may be deleted for any of several reasons.

You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{dated prod}} notice, but please explain why in your edit summary or on the article's talk page.

Please consider improving the article to address the issues raised. Removing {{dated prod}} will stop the proposed deletion process, but other deletion processes exist. The speedy deletion process can result in deletion without discussion, and articles for deletion allows discussion to reach consensus for deletion. Articles for deletion nomination of Green archaeological excavation edit

I have nominated Green archaeological excavation, an article that you created, for deletion. I do not think that this article satisfies Wikipedia's criteria for inclusion, and have explained why at Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Green archaeological excavation. Your opinions on the matter are welcome at that same discussion page; also, you are welcome to edit the article to address these concerns. Thank you for your time.

Please contact me if you're unsure why you received this message. LadyofShalott 16:32, 13 January 2010 (UTC)Reply

What you are doing is not right. I saw that the article got support from another writer. you are one writer, there are now tow writers that think differently. Really I am amazed. There are more than 3.1 M articles inEnglish Wikipedia part of them are about actors for a day, and they entitle to an article. But subject that is so important you want to delete. In Hebrew wiki I have no problem with this article. I am happy that usually I write in he-wiki and not here. Hanay (talk) 18:45, 13 January 2010 (UTC)Reply
I am not the only person who thinks so, as you can see at the AfD. Please discuss at the AfD why you think the article should be kept. LadyofShalott 15:45, 14 January 2010 (UTC)Reply
As I wrote, I am so happy that usually I write articles in he-wiki and not here. I know that en-wiki has decline in no. of editors. This is a "very good way" to increase the numbers of editors. But at least I made you happy. So I did good !!!. And now I can go and read about Matt Dallas and his kind. A negligible Actor, that entitle to an article.Hanay (talk) 04:39, 21 January 2010 (UTC)Reply

File source and copyright licensing problem with File:Weapons on Marmaris.jpg edit

File Copyright problem

Thanks for uploading File:Weapons on Marmaris.jpg. I noticed that the file's description page currently doesn't specify who created the content, so the copyright status is unclear. If you did not create this file yourself, you will need to specify the owner of the copyright. If you obtained it from a website, then a link to the website from which it was taken, together with a restatement of that website's terms of use of its content, is usually sufficient information. However, if the copyright holder is different from the website's publisher, their copyright should also be acknowledged.

As well as adding the source, we also need to know the terms of the license that the copyright holder has published the file under, usually done by adding a licensing tag. If you created/took the picture, audio, or video then the {{GFDL-self}} tag can be used to release it under the GFDL. If you believe the media meets the criteria at Wikipedia:Non-free content, use a tag such as {{non-free fair use in|article name}} or one of the other tags listed at Wikipedia:Image copyright tags#Fair use. See Wikipedia:Image copyright tags for the full list of copyright tags that you can use.

If you have uploaded other files, consider checking that you have specified their source and tagged them, too. You can find a list of files you have created in your upload log. Unsourced and untagged files may be deleted one week after they have been tagged, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If the file is copyrighted under a non-free license (per Wikipedia:Fair use) then the file will be deleted 48 hours after 19:21, 2 June 2010 (UTC). If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. ww2censor (talk) 19:21, 2 June 2010 (UTC)Reply

I see you added the claim that the ship is Phoenician to the article. Where did you get that? I've got two references that say it was more likely Cypriot.

Thank you!

Hi,
apologies for writing in English, if this is not your first language.
I want to thank you once more for engaging in conversation on the Community Health learning campaign. It took us a while, but we can finally announce the winner of the prize, as well as share the outcomes of this conversation.

You might also be interested in taking part in the 2015 Harassment consultation. This is the first of several planned consultations on this topic, intended to provide a place to discuss ideas, concerns, proposals and possible solutions regarding Wikimedia communities’ harassment-related challenges.

This conversation would not have been the same without you. If you have more ideas, or follow up comments on the findings of the campaign, don't hesitate to leave me a message my talk page.

Have a great day,

It might be worth collecting the entire ranges that they use, because from what I can tell they're using quite widespread but consistent ranges. If we have to block the whole of "Triple C Cloud Computing Ltd.", even short term, that might not be a problem. -- zzuuzz (talk) 22:21, 17 December 2016 (UTC)Reply
@Zzuuzz: Roger that. I'll keep an eye out for IP address patterns. Already tracking the 41.137.59.xx range. Those are all a confirmed proxy server. Feel free to ping me if there are any others to BOLO or if there is anything else I can do to help. I'll be on and off all day, but when I'm on I'll be doing counter-vandalism most of the time. @Zzuuzz: and @John "Hannibal" Smith: Thank you both for paying attention to the vandal, but you can refer to the vandal as she not they. This is a famous troll from Hebrew wikipedia that was blocke globaly on Meta see here on Meta, see also what I wrote about here on Wikipedia:Administrators' noticeboard/Edit warring#User:185.3.147.77 reported by User:Hanay (Result: Semi). She is tracing all my edits on many Wikimedia projects on daily basis, and vandalized them, because as administrator on Hebrew wikipedia I deal with her. She is doing the same to User:Geagea who is administrator on Commons and and editor on Hebrew wiki.
Triple C is a very small company in Israel, they do not have many clients. As I see it: range blocking will help. On Commons they blocked the rang 5.22.134.0/24 and 141.226.218.0/24 for a month. Thanks. Hanay (talk) 10:04, 18 December 2016 (UTC)Reply

Please don't add new reports to archived cases, your new reports won't be seen there. Even if it is the same evidence as before they need to be added to the current SPI page. Nthep (talk) 22:27, 17 January 2017 (UTC)Reply

Hi User:Nthep, I thought that the purpose of this page is to document the troll socks as we have in Hebrew wiki see here. What is " the current SPI page"? Hanay (talk) 23:08, 17 January 2017 (UTC)Reply
On en-wp once sock reports have been investigated they are archived. Reports for new socks need to be added to Wikipedia:Sockpuppet investigations/יעל י so they can be looked into. Edits to the archive will be overlooked and no action taken against the accounts you add there. If it is felt necessary then the socks can be tagged with {{sockpuppet}} and categorised. @Nthep: Thank you for the explaination. I wondered why about it. All the socks that I added there were already globally blocked. So no harm done. Next time I will add a name to Wikipedia:Sockpuppet investigations/יעל י. Hanay (talk) 16:29, 18 January 2017 (UTC)Reply

Non-free rationale for File:Beba Idelson Ada Maimon1952-1.jpg edit

Thanks for uploading or contributing to File:Beba Idelson Ada Maimon1952-1.jpg. I notice the file page specifies that the file is being used under non-free content criteria, but there is not a suitable explanation or rationale as to why each specific use in Wikipedia is acceptable. Please go to the file description page, and edit it to include a non-free rationale.

If you have uploaded other non-free media, consider checking that you have specified the non-free rationale on those pages too. You can find a list of 'file' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "File" from the dropdown box. Note that any non-free media lacking such an explanation will be deleted one week after they have been tagged, as described in section F6 of the criteria for speedy deletion.
