I think you've said in the past you don't always follow checkuser-l the closest (I might be confusing you with someone else, though...) Anyway, started a thread there and would appreciate any insight you have :) TonyBallioni (talk) 18:49, 7 June 2020 (UTC)

ArbCom case you may be interested in

Hi, Guerillo. I recently filed a complaint about JzG at ArbCom. I wasn't sure who to name as involved parties, so I tried to include everyone who had recently mentioned ArbCom as a resolution. I forgot about you. I don't know if I can or even should name you as a party now, but in fairness thought I should at least notify you. Feel free to comment, or not. --Slugger O'Toole (talk) 15:42, 10 June 2020 (UTC)

Featured list nomination

Hi! Thanks for your hard work on List of Boy Scout calendar illustrations. If you're interested, I've got a list up for FLC at the moment, co-nominated with a newer editor: List of awards and nominations received by Community. Don't feel any pressure if you've not got the time for a review or aren't interested in the subject matter. Thanks! — Bilorv (Black Lives Matter) 16:17, 13 June 2020 (UTC)

@Bilorv: I will take a look tonight! --Guerillero | Parlez Moi 16:42, 13 June 2020 (UTC)

Appeal of COVID ban for FriendlyRiverOtter

Greetings,

I ask you to please reconsider my one-month COVID ban. My edits on on articles pages themselves have been solid. All my troubles stem from the talk pages and perhaps the Proposal_(FriendlyRiverOtter) itself.

I’ve been told I’m too active and risk dominating a discussion. I’ve also been told that it comes across as badgering. I can accept both of these.

I just hope it’s not the content itself, similar to the old Middle Ages view that one should not criticize the Roman Catholic Church.

In any case, similar to any workplace, I certainly can follow the current policy, while hoping or talking about improvements I’d like to see.

In addition, I showed good faith by closing an RfC I started on this COVID-related topic well before 30 days.
4 June
https://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=Talk:Coronavirus_disease_2019&diff=prev&oldid=960776478
I also hand-archived the discussion.

I’ve worked on COVID topics since mid-March. If you can see a way to take away the ban, I think I might dive into countries which are using voluntary apps for contact tracing.

And in the spirit of the ban, I won’t talk up using primary medical sources for one month from 8 June forward. If I can answer any specific questions you might have, I’ll be happy to do so.

I think of myself as a good Wiki citizen and wish to continue as such. FriendlyRiverOtter (talk) 20:38, 14 June 2020 (UTC)

@FriendlyRiverOtter: I can not unilaterally lift your topic ban because it was pleased by the community. --Guerillero | Parlez Moi 22:57, 14 June 2020 (UTC)
I understand. FriendlyRiverOtter (talk) 13:10, 15 June 2020 (UTC)

New Page Reviewer newsletter June 2020

Hello Guerillero/Archives/2020,

Your help can make a difference

NPP Sorting can be a great way to find pages needing new page patrolling that match your strengths and interests. Using ORES, it divides articles into topics such as Literature or Chemistry and on Geography. Take a look and see if you can find time to patrol a couple pages a day. With over 10,000 pages in the queue, the highest it's been since ACPERM, your help could really make a difference.

Google Adds New Languages to Google Translate

In late February, Google added 5 new languages to Google Translate: Kinyarwanda, Odia (Oriya), Tatar, Turkmen and Uyghur. This expands our ability to find and evaluate sources in those languages.

Discussions and Resources
  • A discussion on handling new article creation by paid editors is ongoing at the Village Pump.
  • Also at the Village Pump is a discussion about limiting participation at Articles for Deletion discussion.
  • A proposed new speedy deletion criteria for certain kinds of redirects ended with no consensus.
  • Also ending with no change was a proposal to change how we handle certain kinds of vector images.

Full protection for Falun Gong

The full protection on Falun Gong seems warranted in view of the what's been going on there (I've had some part to play), but I'm wondering if you have suggestions as to how one would proceed with recommending changes, or resolving these disputes in a more constructive (and hopefully lasting) way. The page was quite stable for years (minor drive-by edits notwithstanding). This changed a month or two ago when a couple editors began making substantial changes, thereby drawing more attention to the page from partisans on both sides. Those new editors have edit warred to enforce those changes, and refused to answer legitimate, well-founded objections on the talk page. A deeply flawed version of the page is the one that has been protected, and it seems to have quite glaring problems in relation to WP:NPOV (including WP:WEIGHT, WP:V. I'm just not sure how to proceed here. Do you think it's something that needs to go to ArbCom? Or is there a way to have an experienced mediator review and help to adjudicate content disputes on the talk page? Grateful for suggestions you may have. TheBlueCanoe 04:30, 18 June 2020 (UTC)

The Minute Man

Wow, thanks for your work on The Minute Man, and congrats on the FA promotion! What a beautiful article. I'd love to see more entries about public art and sculpture promoted on Wikipedia. Happy editing! ---Another Believer (Talk) 13:43, 22 June 2020 (UTC)

Hasp Sneon

Could you take a quick look at Wikipedia:Sockpuppet investigations/Hasp Sneon please? Sockpuppet is active right now, so the sooner it gets looked at the less reverting needs doing. Thank you. FDW777 (talk) 15:56, 26 June 2020 (UTC)

@FDW777: I'm checking now --Guerillero | Parlez Moi 15:57, 26 June 2020 (UTC)
Thanks for your prompt action. FDW777 (talk) 16:02, 26 June 2020 (UTC)
@FDW777: You are welcome. If another sock pops up, we are going to need to consider some semi-protections --Guerillero | Parlez Moi 16:28, 26 June 2020 (UTC)
That's one possibility I suppose, but if he/she wants to carry on in that way it does make tracking their disruption a lot easier than forcing them into uncharted territory. FDW777 (talk) 17:01, 26 June 2020 (UTC)

Outing of editor

Hello. In this diff Ohconfucius appears to attempt to "out" another editor on the falun gong page. Ohconfucius seems to have a history with this topic (judging by user page). After I looked at the policy on doxxing I mentioned that he should revert it and request oversight; but I then read it again more closely and the tone seemed quite serious. The username in question hasn't been on Wikipedia in nearly a decade, so possibly the policy doesn't apply, but it seems there's an important principle at play here (e.g. they could come back anytime, in theory, so the protections of these policies should in theory still apply). Not to mention that it may not even be the same person. It seems that at the very least the edit should be oversighted. But at this stage, especially given the antagonistic history, it may be more serious than that. I'm not sure what the next step is but you recently changed the page to 1 RR so I will leave it with you. Cleopatran Apocalypse (talk) 15:27, 28 June 2020 (UTC)

@Cleopatran Apocalypse: I have suppressed that revision and the subsequent ones that contained it as a precaution will we (the Oversight team) discuss it. Suppression is easily reversible so if it turns out to be public information it will be restored with no harm done. For future reference it is always best to email oversight if you have concerns of this nature as it will likely be actioned quicker, and its better to receive emails about diffs that don't need suppressing than not receive them about ones that do.
