Speedy deletion nomination of "The Dune" edit

Hello Green Utopia,

I wanted to let you know that I just tagged "The Dune" for deletion, because the article doesn't clearly say why the subject is important enough to be included in an encyclopedia.

If you feel that the article shouldn't be deleted and want more time to work on it, you can contest this deletion, but please don't remove the speedy deletion tag from the top.

You can leave a note on my talk page if you have questions. Ireneshih (talk) 11:45, 24 January 2014 (UTC)Reply

Speedy deletion nomination of Nordguard edit

If this is the first article that you have created, you may want to read the guide to writing your first article.

You may want to consider using the Article Wizard to help you create articles.

A tag has been placed on Nordguard, requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section G11 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the page seems to be unambiguous advertising which only promotes a company, product, group, service or person and would need to be fundamentally rewritten in order to become encyclopedic. Please read the guidelines on spam and Wikipedia:FAQ/Organizations for more information.

If you think this page should not be deleted for this reason, you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and clicking the button labelled "Click here to contest this speedy deletion". This will give you the opportunity to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. However, be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be removed without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag from the page yourself, but do not hesitate to add information in line with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. If the page is deleted, and you wish to retrieve the deleted material for future reference or improvement, you can place a request here. -

I notice that you have made a number of edits to Nordguard, but none of them seem to be aimed at citing reliable sources or establishing notability. Will this be happening any time soon? DES (talk) 18:50, 14 February 2014 (UTC)Reply

What are you going on about, I HAVE added reliable sources and established notability. I don't know how many references you need to add to a wiki page, but I feel almost ten is more than enough!

lets take a look, then:
That is three reasonable sources (not 10). That is actually better than I thought the article had. However, there are no inline citations to any of these sources, so a reader doesn't know what statements in the article are supported by which source, and must read through all the sources to determine this. There are statements tagged with "Citation needed" for which no inline source citation has been provided. And In partucualr, there are direct quotes that are not supported by inline citations. Inline cites are required for all quotations.
If you find it awkward to place inline citations, try reading referencing for beginners. Or post to Talk:Nordguard simply saying "Statement 'such and such' is supported by source 'XYZ'" for each of the key statements of the article, and I will help format proper inline cites that convey that information. I had noticed that no inline cites had been added, and i perhaps did not look closely enough at the general references. I am sorry if I sounded aggressive or unhelpful. Such was not my intent. DES (talk) 20:31, 14 February 2014 (UTC)Reply

Okay then, the statements made regarding the beautifully detailed art are found in all three of the online reviews of the series. The first statement by Jim DeVries is found in the number 2 reference from ign.Com The second statement by Fred Patten is found in the number 3 reference from flayrah.com The third statement by Shaun Nordin is found in the number 1 reference from thestar.com

Jack-in-the-Box (short story) edit

Hi Green Utopia, I just came across this article and notice that it appears to be a close paraphrase. I ran it through the duplication tool and it does appear to have several sections that are perhaps a little too close. I've never read the story so I'm not really comfortable trying to paraphrase it myself. If you need help though I can try to point you in the direction of someone who might be better at it. Thanks! ArbCom elections are now open! edit

Hi,
You appear to be eligible to vote in the current Arbitration Committee election. The Arbitration Committee is the panel of editors responsible for conducting the Wikipedia arbitration process. It has the authority to enact binding solutions for disputes between editors, primarily related to serious behavioural issues that the community has been unable to resolve. This includes the ability to impose site bans, topic bans, editing restrictions, and other measures needed to maintain our editing environment. The arbitration policy describes the Committee's roles and responsibilities in greater detail. If you wish to participate, you are welcome to review the candidates' statements and submit your choices on the voting page.
