Hello, this is Grandma-Dorrie. I have created a page for a friend and am now stuck as to how it should be published or "go-live". Can anyone help please? (Grandma-Dorrie (talk) 13:43, 9 October 2013 (UTC))Reply

Your article

edit

The sandbox was in fact the right place to create your article, not your user page User:Grandma-Dorrie, which is intended for you to say something about yourself and your Wikipedia activities, if you choose, to help communication within the project. See WP:User pages for more about that.

So I have moved your latest version back to User:Grandma-Dorrie/sandbox, and given it a sandbox header with includes, in the box at the top, a link "Click here" which will send it to WP:Articles for creation, where an experienced user will look at it and either accept it into the main encyclopedia or give you feedback.

Before doing that you may like to check out WP:Your first article. If you want further advice, you can use {{helpme}} again, or you would be very welcome at the Wikipedia:Teahouse which is especially designed to give help to new editors.

One word of caution: you say you created this page "for a friend". That gives you, in Wikipedia's terms, a WP:Conflict of interest: a mild one, by comparison with the many people who try to use Wikipedia to promote themselves or sell something, but you should still be aware that Wikipedia is very strongly concerned to maintain a WP:Neutral point of view, and should read the Wikipedia:Plain and simple conflict of interest guide. The main advice for someone with a COI is not to post an article directly but to let it be reviewed by uninvolved users, and by sending it to WP:Articles for creation you are doing just that.

Regards, JohnCD (talk) 17:37, 9 October 2013 (UTC)Reply
