Hello. In case you didn't know, when you add content to talk pages and Wikipedia pages that have open discussion, you should sign your posts by typing four tildes ( ~~~~ ) at the end of your comment. You could also click on the signature button   or   located above the edit window. This will automatically insert a signature with your username or IP address and the time you posted the comment. This information is useful because other editors will be able to tell who said what, and when they said it. Thank you. --SineBot (talk) 16:16, 25 September 2012 (UTC)Reply

Portal

edit

I'd be glad to help you format an Astrobiology portal. I see you've posted in a few places to ask whether there should be one, so I suggest you wait a couple of days first, just in case anyone comes up with a good reason against it.

Unlike an article, moving a portal is quite tricky, so I recommend that you/we create it at Portal:Astrobiology rather than in your sandbox. Have a think about which boxes should be included - "Selected article", "Selected biography", "Selected picture" are the standard ones - and try to come up with at least five possible articles or pictures that could be shown in each box. For example at Portal:Cornwall there is a "Selected biography" box, and the "More biographies" link takes you to Portal:Cornwall/Selected biography where you can see that someone has picked out five Cornish people with decent-quality Wikipedia articles.

You did "step 1" correctly in your sandbox, by the way. I have updated the "Instructions" page, adding a reassuring note that after step 1 the page is supposed to be full of red links. -- John of Reading (talk) 19:08, 25 September 2012 (UTC)Reply

Thanks, John of Reading, I appreciate the help. Also, step 2 of the instructions say to create subpages; any help with this? I'm sorry, I have no idea how to make subpages...--GoneMoot00 (talk) 14:22, 27 September 2012 (UTC)Reply

Wait, I figured it out, and seriously, thanks again, its starting to take shape--GoneMoot00 (talk) 15:25, 27 September 2012 (UTC)Reply

I've spent a couple of hours on it. What do you think? I've posted a progress report at Portal talk:Astrobiology, so that would be a good place to leave comments and suggestions. -- John of Reading (talk) 14:35, 1 October 2012 (UTC)Reply

Help!

edit

Hello, I'm a new user. Sorry for any disruptions or rule violations, but I don't know where else to turn. I think that astrobiology should have its own portal, and I want to create one and help contribute to it, but I don't know how! Any help would be appreciated. Hello. Please review Wikipedia:Portal guidelines (WP:POG). Cheers, BatteryIncluded (talk) 16:07, 27 September 2012 (UTC)Reply

Request reason:

What is this sock puppet shit? I have no idea what kind of mistake you people are making or what you think I've done, but how dare you! Anyone can edit wikipedia! I've done absolutely nothing wrong, I've done nothing but good all this time! I created the astrobiology portal! I've fixed grammar and reverted vandalism! Why can't you be welcoming? I was a new user, and John of Reading lifted me up and helped me out! Why can't you all be as kind? This is an outrage! I've got your ass on a silver platter! GoneMoot00 (talk) 23:47, 7 December 2012 (UTC)Reply

Decline reason:

A definition of "sock puppet shit" can be found here. Also, unblock requests that do not discuss the reason for block and instead focus on asses and platters are generally declined. Kinu t/c 23:52, 7 December 2012 (UTC)Reply

If you want to make any further unblock requests, please read the guide to appealing blocks first, then use the {{unblock}} template again. If you make too many unconvincing or disruptive unblock requests, you may be prevented from editing this page until your block has expired. Do not remove this unblock review while you are blocked.
