- Don't be afraid to edit! Just find something that can be improved and make it better. Other editors will help fix any mistakes you make.
- It's normal to feel a little overwhelmed, but don't worry if you don't understand everything at first—it's fine to edit using common sense.
- If an edit you make is reverted, you can discuss the issue at the article's talk page. Sign your messages with four tildes (~~~~), be civil, and don't restore the edit unless there is consensus.
- When adding new content to an article, always include a citation to a reliable source.
- If you wish to edit about a subject with which you are affiliated, read our conflict of interest guide and disclose your connection.
- Have fun! Your presence in the Wikipedia community is welcome.

DYK for Occupation of Catalina Island
editOn 10 May 2022, Did you know was updated with a fact from the article Occupation of Catalina Island, which you recently created, substantially expanded, or brought to good article status. The fact was ... that in 1972, Catalina Island was occupied by the Brown Berets, who claimed that the territory rightfully belonged to Mexico? The nomination discussion and review may be seen at Template:Did you know nominations/Occupation of Catalina Island. You are welcome to check how many pageviews the nominated article or articles got while on the front page (here's how, Occupation of Catalina Island), and if they received a combined total of at least 416.7 views per hour (i.e., 5,000 views in 12 hours or 10,000 in 24), the hook may be added to the statistics page. Finally, if you know of an interesting fact from another recently created article, then please feel free to suggest it on the Did you know talk page.
