Searches indicate that there are not enough independent references to this concept to suggest that it is notable. Mangoe (talk) 02:47, 20 October 2011 (UTC)Reply

Nayef Al-Rodhan article

edit

Hello, I wanted to let you know that I had not arbitrarily removed Dr. Al-Rodhan's first name and title from the article you have been working on. WP:SURNAME explains that on first use, the full name should be used and subsequent uses should just have the last name. I hope this helps make the article better by following the Manual of Style. I also noticed some over capitalization that you might take care of. Thanks, SchreiberBike (talk) 16:01, 29 August 2012 (UTC)Reply

International security

edit

I have reverted your extensive additions to the article. They were obviously in good faith, but they created a very unbalanced perspective for readers. The extent of Al-Rodhan's contributions should only be mentioned in proportion to their importance to the topic of international security. (And the significance of these ideas should be verified by reliable sources). --Jprg1966 (talk) 07:06, 2 September 2012 (UTC)Reply

I too redid some of your work on Good Governance, remember Wikipedia isn't a place to promote one scholar's positions, rather we are looking to collect many different source from different locations to provided a Neutral Point of View, Sadads (talk) 14:28, 4 September 2012 (UTC)Reply
Looks like you've been adding large paragraphs of Al-Rodhan's thoughts to Geopolitics, Meaning of life and other general articles. It's inappropriate to give this much weight to a single scholar - the meaning of life article has a general section on "Scientific inquiry and perspectives" that mentions only a few academics by name, and summarises their point of view in a few sentences. You're welcome to mention Al-Rodhan in the same context if his writing is notable, but the article does not need three massive sections for him alone, when Darwin doesn't even get directly namechecked. --McGeddon (talk) 16:31, 5 September 2012 (UTC)Reply

Undue weight to Nayef Al-Rodhan's theories

edit

Hello again. You seem to have been editing several general-subject articles such as Meaning of life and Epistemology to add an entire section on what the Oxford academic Nayef Al-Rodhan thinks about them. These are articles that give a very broad overview of a subject, and where even the viewpoints of leading figures are only mentioned in passing, within the context of a wider paragraph that describes the discipline they belonged to. Specific writers are only examined in relation to the significance of their contribution to the subject, and may not even be directly namechecked.

It is inappropriately undue weight to interrupt this with one or more standalone sections that detail Al-Rodhan's thoughts in great detail. He should either be given the same weight as other philosophers and academics - or, if he's up against Popper, Descarts and Darwin and other heavyweights on the meaning of life, his additional thoughts probably aren't significant enough to the field to merit a mention in a general encyclopaedia entry. I'd recommend focusing on articles about specific subjects where Al-Rodhan has published, recognised expertise, rather than wading in on the meaning-of-life type ones. --McGeddon (talk) 09:39, 7 September 2012 (UTC)Reply

I'd add that if you're in any way connected with Al-Rodhan, or with the promotion of his book, you should familiarise yourself with Wikipedia's conflict of interest policy before making any further edits related to his work. --McGeddon (talk) 09:58, 7 September 2012 (UTC)Reply
