Hello, Gavin.p.lynch, and welcome to Wikipedia! Thank you for your contributions. I hope you like the place and decide to stay. Here are a few links to pages you might find helpful:

Please remember to sign your messages on talk pages by typing four tildes (~~~~); this will automatically insert your username and the date. If you need help, check out Wikipedia:Questions, ask me on my talk page, or ask your question on this page and then place {{Help me}} before the question. Again, welcome! -TFD (talk) 15:56, 24 March 2014 (UTC)Reply

Hi TFD. If I'm discussing a potential edit on a talk page, do I tag the person I'm in discussion with or will they see the post either way? Thanks

Gavin.p.lynch it is usually best to tag the person (as I tagged you in this post) if you want to get their attention. Many people will watchlist pages they are discussing something on, so they may see your post anyways, but you can never be certain. Since notifications can be turned off or disabled, tagging them may not work either. If they don't reply in a day or two after being tagged, it may be appropriate to check their Special:Contribs/username and see if they have been on, and if they have, leave them a {{Talkback}}. Happy editing! — {{U|Technical 13}} (tec) 16:29, 24 March 2014 (UTC)Reply
