Black Awakening in Capitalist America edit

Hello FretfulPorcupine, and welcome to Wikipedia! I saw over at WikiProject Books that your article was declined so I took a look. I think you made a great start. I found several excellent and useful articles on the book, so I went ahead and added a bit to the "reception" section. The article now demonstrates the "notability" of the topic, so if you wanted to resubmit it, I think it would be accepted. It's an often-annoying fact of wikipedia that many incredibly "notable" topics won't be accepted as such unless there are two different sources with detailed coverage, which, depending on the subject, aren't always easy to find. In this case, though, there is a lot to work with. If you wanted to keep working on the article, I think it could be really excellent, there's room to add more context about Internal Colonialism Theory, the book's relationship to the Black Power movement, etc. I would be happy to help with this article or any others that interest you, feel free to reply here or leave a message on my talk page if you have any questions as you edit. ~ oulfis 🌸(talk) 08:40, 6 June 2020 (UTC)Reply

Oh, I also meant to say, if you don't have access to this great special issue on Allen's work, let me know; my university library subscribes to that journal so I can help make that information available. ~ oulfis 🌸(talk) 08:46, 6 June 2020 (UTC)Reply

Appreciate the insight Oulfis and hope I'm using talk correctly. I did submit the article early hoping to assemble more sources as it sat for review and so appreciate your additions and your insight into what qualifies as notable seems like they will be invaluable as I continue editing more articles. I do have academic access but appreciate the offer. Thanks again for the insight as I get started here!FretfulPorcupine (talk) 21:37, 7 June 2020 (UTC)Reply

Proposed deletion of Kevin Hayden edit

The article Kevin Hayden has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:

Just the type of local coverage one would expect, fails GNG and NPOL.

While all constructive contributions to Wikipedia are appreciated, pages may be deleted for any of several reasons.

You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{proposed deletion/dated}} notice, but please explain why in your edit summary or on the article's talk page.

Please consider improving the page to address the issues raised. Removing {{proposed deletion/dated}} will stop the proposed deletion process, but other deletion processes exist. In particular, the speedy deletion process can result in deletion without discussion, and articles for deletion allows discussion to reach consensus for deletion.
