External links in articles edit

Hi,

Just a friendly notice: normally, articles don't include external links in the body text of the article. (Please see WP:External links for proof I'm not lying  .) Since Archive of Our Own is already linked in the lede (not a typo) and a working link is in the reference for the 50 best websites line, I've removed them from the body. I hope you don't mind. I come in peace, Me, Myself & I (talk) 00:42, 9 February 2016 (UTC)Reply

Toni Morrison edit

Frescadp, I apologize. I had become so used to the article as it had been for a few years I read only the Critique section you added. I did not realize how much you have improved the article in the last week. I would really enjoy working with you to get the article ready for Good Article review. Wikipedia deserves to have a featured article for Morrison but, that's a hard slog. I just ordered two books from Amazon; used, about $5 each with free, two-day shipping: Playing in the Dark: Whiteness and the Literary Imagination and Critical Essays on Toni Morrison (Critical Essays on American Literature). A third looks promising, Toni Morrison: Memory and Meaning, but the prices are too steep.

I must admit that I'm atoning for a youth misspent with hard science. I've not read much "literature", and my writing has mostly been for oral delivery... my use of punctuation shows it.

Your joke is witty... I like it.

Neonorange (Phil) 07:39, 8 May 2017 (UTC)Reply

@Neonorange:!
No worries---I made a lot of changes--more than I've ever made to an article before, because I was surprised how much was missing from Morrison's (I'd assumed such a famous writer would already have a Good Article)-- and, to tell the truth, I wasn't sure it was the right decision to set the negative criticism off by itself, so you were right to question that. I'm going to put the Stanley Crouch quote in with the positive criticism of Beloved, and then I'm calling it a day for now. I applaud your willingness to work on improving the article but at this time, i don't have time (the changes I made took three over four days of reading and researching--rewarding, enjoyable, but time consuming!).

ArbCom 2017 election voter message edit

Hello, Frescadp. Voting in the 2017 Arbitration Committee elections is now open until 23.59 on Sunday, 10 December. All users who registered an account before Saturday, 28 October 2017, made at least 150 mainspace edits before Wednesday, 1 November 2017 and are not currently blocked are eligible to vote. It has the authority to impose binding solutions to disputes between editors, primarily for serious conduct disputes the community has been unable to resolve. This includes the authority to impose site bans, topic bans, editing restrictions, and other measures needed to maintain our editing environment. The arbitration policy describes the Committee's roles and responsibilities in greater detail.

If you wish to participate in the 2017 election, please review the candidates and submit your choices on the voting page. MediaWiki message delivery (talk) 18:42, 3 December 2017 (UTC)Reply
