Speedy deletion nomination of The Fighters (band)

edit

If this is the first article that you have created, you may want to read the guide to writing your first article.

You may want to consider using the Article Wizard to help you create articles.

A tag has been placed on The Fighters (band) requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section A7 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the article appears to be about a band or musician, but it does not credibly indicate how or why the subject is important or significant: that is, why an article about that subject should be included in an encyclopedia. Under the criteria for speedy deletion, such articles may be deleted at any time. Please read more about what is generally accepted as notable.

If you think this page should not be deleted for this reason, you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and clicking the button labelled "Contest this speedy deletion". This will give you the opportunity to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. However, be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag from the page yourself, but do not hesitate to add information in line with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. If the page is deleted, and you wish to retrieve the deleted material for future reference or improvement, then please contact the deleting administrator. Speedy deletion nomination of The Fighters (band)

edit

Hello Franklinstack,

I wanted to let you know that I just tagged The Fighters (band) for deletion, because the article doesn't clearly say why the subject is important enough to be included in an encyclopedia.

If you feel that the article shouldn't be deleted and want more time to work on it, you can contest this deletion, but please don't remove the speedy deletion tag from the top.

You can leave a note on my talk page if you have questions.

The tag has been removed. It was added by mistake. My apologies. Meatsgains(talk) 02:34, 19 April 2018 (UTC)Reply

Got it, thanks!

  • Franklin, I just wanna say that the article there now is far better than the article that I saw originally. This new version makes clear the band's importance and significance to the punk music scene. Great job on improving. In the future, you might want to start your articles at your sandbox (User:Franklinstack/sandbox), where you can take as much time as you need before promoting it to an article. If you have any questions about it, feel free to ask me, I'm happy to help. Oiyarbepsy (talk) 03:14, 19 April 2018 (UTC)Reply

What you should do next time you want to start a new article is just start the article in mainspace from the start, if you have that ability. There's no requirement that new articles always have to be started in draftspace first, that's meant for new users since their articles are much more likely to be not up to snuff and to need guidance and improvement and feedback. But once you have started an article in draftspace and submit it to the review queue, unfortunately you just have to let that process finish rather than simply copying and pasting it into mainspace yourself while the draft version is still sitting in the review queue.

The thing is, I don't have the ability to read your mind: when I'm cleaning up a cluster of articles whose creators did exactly what you did, I have no way to guess at the creators' intentions. I have no easy or obvious way to separate the articles into two camps, where some should be handled the standard way (i.e. deleting the mainspace copy as a cut-paste of the draft) while others should be extended the special courtesy of deleting the draft instead of the mainspace version — all I can really do is treat them all the same way. The AFC review queue is backlogged enough as it is without having drafts sitting in it whose creators have already bypassed the process by copying and pasting their work directly into mainspace even while the draft is still in the queue, so we have to clean that kind of thing up when we find it and can't just ignore or overlook it.

It's not meant to punish you personally, it's just a thing that has to be cleaned up when I come across it, and I can't play favourites by treating some copy-pastes of unreviewed drafts differently than I treat others. Bearcat (talk) 15:42, 25 November 2019 (UTC)Reply
