Wikicup

thank you for stepping up to my proposal for the wikicup. The first thing is, we need a picture of a wiki cup that we can fix onto the template. We then need wikipedians who are willing to participate, and some judges. It may be hard, but I will start some work on it soon. Thanks. The sunder king 18:39, 26 September 2007 (UTC)Reply

Ok then, lets get started with the basics first, do you know any other wikipedians who are intrested? The sunder king 18:52, 26 September 2007 (UTC)Reply
Perhaps my adopter might be intrested. The sunder king 18:55, 26 September 2007 (UTC)Reply
I was thinking that there should probably be rewards for the second and third places also, that's why if we gather a mayor quantity of competitors maybe only one cup will not be enough for fomenting some competitive level after some of the users find themeselves behind, perhaps we can finally find a use for the Gold, Silver and Bronze versions of the Golden Wiki [1]. - Caribbean~H.Q. 23:11, 27 September 2007 (UTC)Reply
Where do we enter and when does the cup start? Clyde1998 08:42, 14 October 2007 (UTC)Reply

UEFA Euro 2008

Hey, some comments that may help.

  • Needs more references (e.g. how do you know there are 52 associations from which the finalists will come? Where did you find out what has been written about the Bid process?)
  • Place citations as per WP:CITE, i.e. immediately after punctuation where possible.
  • While I'm no image licence expert, Image:UEFA Euro 2008 Venues.jpg looks dubious to me. At best it should be used under a fair use licence.
  • Minimise the number of single-sentence paragraphs.
  • "...definitively qualified..." - redundant word - they've either qualified or they haven't.  Done
  • Reduce external links drastically per WP:EL.  Done

Hope these are useful. The Rambling Man 07:28, 27 September 2007 (UTC)Reply

Wikicup

Good improvements, but did Jimbo say he was participating? Also I hoped for a little more users than that, or is it just a test. The sunder king 09:00, 28 September 2007 (UTC)Reply

Oh its just a test, Caribbean H.Q. and User:The Hybrid are also intrested. The sunder king 09:03, 28 September 2007 (UTC)Reply
Oh so I see, well I've been doing some tests, and I've also put up a message on my userpage which will instantly grab attention, as it looks like the "new messages" banner. Also while we are building this project be careful of people looking for something to WP:MFD... The sunder king 12:30, 28 September 2007 (UTC)Reply
Note, I think people should apply to join the competition rather than be nominated. The sunder king 12:39, 28 September 2007 (UTC)Reply
someone has put a question on the talkpage of the wikicup page. The sunder king 14:36, 28 September 2007 (UTC)Reply

Um, I have a lot of knowledge about things from watching my friends edit, but as far as my actual contributions go I'm just a vandal fighter, mediator, and meta user. I know how to do things, but I don't enjoy doing them. If there is a ref position, then I would be good for that, or if you need some help with ideas or getting the word out about the tournament, then I can help you with that. Peace, The Hybrid 22:07, 28 September 2007 (UTC)Reply

Update

We have a new participant on the WikiCup who is representing the United States. Which means we have one group ready, can we prepare another one then? The sunder king 09:53, 6 October 2007 (UTC)Reply

I'm sorry, but why exactly did you remove the discussion from me and WikiGull on red links? I mean, we were just making useful comments as to them being kept, but you "sigh" and shrug them off? I'm sorry, but I find that rude and quite ignorant, really. It would have been nice to have had acknowledgment and your opinion instead! Sorry, but this was bugging me.. Wiki World Cup

With the new revamps you've made to the tourney scoring system, I think that I would like to sign up after all. Since the USA is taken, I would like to represent Ireland, since I'm half-Irish. Cheers, The Hybrid T/C 05:07, 9 October 2007 (UTC)Reply

A comment I'd like to make on it as I'm just about to enter. Personally, I think we should have more than eight teams, possibly sixteen. Just a thought. Davnel03 16:39, 10 October 2007 (UTC)Reply
My mistake there, I'm Germany! Anyway, I think you should have sixteen, otherwise I think too many people will not be able to enter the tournament. You could have four groups of four or two groups of eight. Davnel03 16:50, 10 October 2007 (UTC)Reply
Looking forward to it! Nice idea. The only reason I'm Italy is because my mum has moved over there from the UK so I'll have to put up with that I guess! Let me know if I can help with anything. The Rambling Man 16:55, 10 October 2007 (UTC)Reply
Right, I've created a template which is for the winner. Which can be found here, but of course the details are filled in for the winner. The sunder king 17:08, 10 October 2007 (UTC)Reply
Ok that's fine. The sunder king 17:16, 10 October 2007 (UTC)Reply

Re: RfA Help

Hey there! You are certainly doing a great job. I've had a look through your contributions and you've put a lot of hard work into lots of football articles which is excellent to see. As far as an RfA is concerned, it's always difficult to predict how they will turn out. Personally, I wanted to wait a while before I went for RfA to make sure I felt that I was ready. I would probably say that a number of people at RfA would like to see you have more experience in project space areas (as well as a bit higher mainspace count as well). The reason being is that people like to see experience in areas that admins tend to deal with, so they can be comfortable that you'll know what you're doing when you get the tools. As such, I think a good idea would be to have a go at comment on various WP:XfD discussions. You might also like to do a little bit of vandalism reverting if you get time, and make some reports to WP:AIV so that people can see that you will have experience about when to use the block button and so forth. I see you already have a few contributions to WP:RFPP and that's another one which is a useful place to keep contributing to as it's valuable experience for any aspiring admin. So basically, my advice would be to keep up the good work and start increasing your contributions to various admin related areas so people can see you have plenty of experience when you next go for an RfA. I'd say it's probably a bit soon at the moment; it's always best not to rush these things. In other news, I see that you're moving to England on your user page. Good luck settling in, and I hope you like it here! Best regards. Will (aka Wimt) 16:40, 14 October 2007 (UTC)Reply

In the future, tag the page with a speedy notice. I couldn't find any evidence of the AFD for this, so I'll just delete the article for now. Daniel Case 18:37, 15 October 2007 (UTC)Reply
