Featured Pic nomination edit

Hi Felix Dance, and thanks for making a contribution to WP:FPC

I've removed your new pic because you put it in the wrong place and it wouldn't have been voted on, although I can see you were following the instructions nearly exactly! What you need to do is to create a new page to hold your new nomination: and to do that you should create a red link somewhere to the new page, click on it and edit. Don't just add a new heading to an existing sub-page.

For your nomination, you can click here if you want to create the page: Wikipedia:Featured picture candidates/Melbourne Royal Botanical Gardens. Once you've done that, you paste the template stuff like you did before into the edit box, and you should have no trouble following the rest of the instructions.

One minor note: the image you nominated has just been tagged as a possible copyright violation, because the person who uploaded it didn't say where he/she got it from. The person who has tagged it has left a message asking them to explain, so they will probably do so and it'll likely be OK once they have, but if I were you I'd wait until the copyvio warning message has been removed from the page before re-nominating it. Images with copyvio notices on them don't tend to get votes.

I hope the above is useful! Any questions, give me a shout on my talk page. Thanks again for contributing :-)

Welcome edit

Hey, WP:WELCOME to Wikipedia! I noticed you created Melbourne tram route 55 from scratch - nice job!

If you haven't already, you mght like to check out the Wikipedia:Australian Wikipedians' notice board. Also check out Wikipedia:WikiProject Melbourne - it looks like you've been working on it without even knowing it existed! ;)

Also, you might want to add Category:Wikipedians in Victoria to your userpage. And hey, there's even going to be a meetup on Tuesday (the 29th); I'm sure you'd be totally more than welcome to come.

Anyway, just wanted to say "nice editing". If you want to ask me a question or leave any comments you can do so on my Talk page. cheers! pfctdayelise 02:45, 26 November 2005 (UTC)Reply

Wikipedia, obsessive? Say it ain't so! ;)
I was just having a look at a few of your edits. Some lovely images you've uploaded! :) I noticed you also created Melbourne University Classics and Archaeology Students' Society and Melbourne University Mountaineering Club. I think now would be a good time to have a closer read of some of Wikipedia's policies. For example Wikipedia:Manual of style and Wikipedia:Guide to writing better articles. They will both give you advice about how pages are commonly formatted (for example, the first sentence typically has the subject in bold; also, it's best if articles are put into categories and/or marked with stub notices). I'm not going to give you any advice on images because it seems like you've got it all sussed! :)
I strongly suggest you read through some of the articles in Category:Wikipedia notability criteria. I don't want you to get an unpleasant shock when you find someone has placed an article you started on Articles for Deletion (AfD) because it's "unencyclopaedic" or "non-notable". Whether you agree with the criterion or not, the fact is articles are regularly deleted for not demonstrating their importance, ie. their worthiness to have their own article. If MUMC has really been around since 1945 (!) there is a good chance it would survive an AfD, but I have to say that I don't think MUCASS would.
OK here are a couple of final useful links:
Happy editing! pfctdayelise 12:28, 28 November 2005 (UTC)Reply

Image copyright problem with Image:Mr004140_md.jpg edit

Thanks for uploading Image:Mr004140_md.jpg. However, the image may soon be deleted unless we can determine the copyright holder and copyright status. The Wikimedia Foundation is very careful about the images included in Wikipedia because of copyright law (see Wikipedia's Copyright policy).

The copyright holder is usually the creator, the creator's employer, or the last person who was transferred ownership rights. Copyright information on images on Wikipedia is signified using copyright templates. The three basic license types on Wikipedia are open content, public domain, and fair use. Find the appropriate template in Wikipedia:Image copyright tags and place it on the image page like this: {{TemplateName}}.

Please signify the copyright information on any other images you have uploaded or will upload. Remember that images without this important information can be deleted by an administrator. You can get help on image copyright tagging from Wikipedia talk:Image copyright tags. -- Carnildo 18:52, 1 February 2006 (UTC)Reply

Tassie project/Frankland Range edit

Please note it is asleep most of the time (the project) - but have a look at another tassie art to see what you need to put at the back/on the talk/discussion page to make it a worth member of the Tas and OZ project - also when you start a new art: -

If you have mutiple piccies- and not already in - well worth checking

cheers (i am on wikibreak otherwise id leave a lot more here) SatuSuro 06:07, 18 December 2008 (UTC)Reply

if you look on the mountains geography category trees on the main pages of the projects you will see one is enough - usually the child is enough - ie mountains. The general standard of tassie mountains and range articles are very poor by general wp standards - most central highlands arts do not have WP:RS and read like climbers mental notes rather than encyc arts ( I was in tassie a few days ago and now have the relevant texts so dont worry) - south west tas arts are short of everything. chapman ref is inadequate as it stands ill get it up to what it should be - vip - when you do all those red links are you really gonna do the arts? better leave em as a list rather than links. i am trying very hard not to break my wikibreak, its getting v hard when i see a mess elsewhere ...
