Your account with this username has been blocked indefinitely because it is too close to User:Jimbo Wales (see our blocking and username policies for more information).

You are encouraged to create a new account and contribute to Wikipedia under a more appropriate username. Wikipedia:Username policy provides guidance on selecting an appropriate username. You may also edit Wikipedia without creating an account.

You are not allowed to edit Wikipedia under an inappropriate username. If you would like to discuss the block, you may appeal on your talk page or email the administrator who blocked you. Due to Wikipedia's mechanism for enforcing name changes, your IP address may be temporarily blocked. Unless you have also been engaging in vandalism or impersonation of another user, we will remove that block as soon as possible.

If you want to keep the contributions from your old account for your new username, please follow these directions:

  1. Add {{unblock-un|your new username here}} to your user talk page. This is possible because even when you are blocked, you can still edit your own talk page.
  2. At an administrator's discretion, you may be unblocked.
  3. You will have 24 hours after the unblock to file a request on Wikipedia:Changing username before you may be re-blocked. Note that this can only be done before you create the new one. For more information, please visit Wikipedia:Changing username. In many cases (especially if your account has few or no edits), it is a lot easier to create a new account. -- zzuuzz(talk) 23:36, 18 April 2007 (UTC)Reply

My name is James. I am not trying to impersonate Jimbo Wales or anyone else, just make the odd contribution here and there. Are all user names that contain "James" or "Jimbo" automatically banned? This seems rather odd. "Jjimbo" is surely sufficiently different from "Jimbo Wales", and surely most people who read my edits are aware that it is possible for two people to share the same Christian name. My apologies for sounding annoyed, but I haven't done anything wrong. Jjimbo 14:53, 19 April 2007 (UTC)Reply

Hello Jjimbo. Sorry for the inconvenience. I have no doubt your name was chosen in good faith, but please also realise that we have a username policy and a good number of vandals and impersonators. Tell you what, I'll unblock your account and we can have a discussion over at WP:RFCN. Standard template follows. -- zzuuzz(talk) 15:07, 19 April 2007 (UTC)Reply

RFC discussion of your username (Jjimbo)

edit

Hello, Jjimbo, and thank you for contributing to Wikipedia! Wikipedia has a policy on what usernames editors can use. Unfortunately, concerns have been raised that your username may be incompatible with that policy. You can contribute to the discussion about it here. Alternatively, if you agree that your username may be problematic and are willing to change it, it is possible for you to keep your present contributions history under a new name. Simply request a new name here following the guidelines on that page, rather than creating a whole new account. Thank you. -- -- zzuuzz(talk) 15:07, 19 April 2007 (UTC)Reply

Aloha!
