Marquita Rivera

Hi Eugenebiscardi, you are related to Marquita aren't you? Try to dig up some more infromation, you can provide and cite newspaper articles and such on her. If you have any questions let me know. Tony the Marine (talk) 02:29, 1 May 2008 (UTC)Reply

  • Eugene, it was nice to hear from you. I went and created an infobox for you. Margarita was truely an amazing person. Tony the Marine (talk) 02:46, 8 May 2008 (UTC)Reply
Eugene, I went ahead and did some minor fixes for you. Why do I do these things? You can find the answer here:Why do I write in Wikipedia. I do have some suggestions and here they are:

1. I saw a picture of your mother with Bob Hope and Bing Crosby. That would be perfect picture to upload here, plus it will proof the notability of Marquita. If you know the picture which I am talking about, upload it as your own and post this in the image upload: {{self2|GFDL-with-disclaimers|cc-by-sa-2.5,2.0,1.0}}.

2. Since you wrote the article out of love, I noticed that there many phrases and words which in accordance to Wikipedia policy are considered "POV" (point of view). Someone will eventually come along and place an ugly "POV" tag on the article which will affect the credibility of the article. I would have eliminated and rephrased the POV"s, but since you wrote it, I didn't want to interfere and let you, the author do it. I want to show an article which was written by my son about me as an example Tony Santiago. Tony the Marine (talk) 04:22, 9 May 2008 (UTC)Reply

  • Hello Cynthia, Do this-Upload the picture the same way that you did the first image. It won't affect the other image at all as long as you have a different name for it, example:"Rivera,Hope and Crosby.JPG". Then post it in the "Acting and singing career" section the following way:[[ ---Here goes the file name--- |right|150px|thumb|Rivera (center) with Bob Hope and Bing Crosby]]. If you have any problems let me know.

O.K., I will work on the "POV's" on the article as if it were my own. Tony the Marine (talk) 20:13, 9 May 2008 (UTC)Reply

  • I eliminated what would be considered "POV" in Wikipedia. I suggest that in the last paragraph you add "On -----, Rivera died in ------ (New York?) of (cancer? ---). She is survived by -----." Tony the Marine (talk) 20:35, 9 May 2008 (UTC)Reply
Did you upload the image in Wikipedia? Go here: [upload]. Then delete what is in the "Summary" section and write this: "Summary - Marquita Rivera with Bob Hope and Bing Crosby" after that post this "License - {{self2|GFDL-with-disclaimers|cc-by-sa-2.5,2.0,1.0}}.

Next step "Click" the "browse" button and place your image. Finally "Click" the upload button. Once you have all that done let me know and I will place the image for you. Tony the Marine (talk) 21:40, 12 May 2008 (UTC)Reply

Great!

I have taken care of the image situation and posted it in the article. To tell you the truth I have enjoyed helping you out here. I hope that Marquita's family likes what we have done to honor her memory. If you can get any newspaper clippings or additional info and if you ever need muy help with anything just drop by my "talk page" as always (smile). • Yes, I would the video. Instead of posting my address, here is my e-mail: NMB 2418@aol.com. Write to me there and then I will send you my address. I am a military historian, but I have a passion for anything that has to do with the positive contributions which Hispanics and people of Hispanic descent have made to our nation. I will be expecting your e-mail. Tony the Marine (talk) 00:33, 13 May 2008 (UTC)Reply
Cynthia, very interesting about your grandpa. Since we're friends, if you would like to know about me, here is an article Tony Santiago. I want to suggest that every now and then you check up on the article because there are a lot of people (non-registered users) who will come around and add nonsense or vandalize articles and I'm sure that you wouldn't want that to happen. In case it does happen, all you have to do is edit and fix the article. Take care. Tony the Marine (talk) 04:31, 13 May 2008 (UTC)Reply

Infobox

edit

Hello Cyn, it is always nice to hear from you. Infoboxes are standard in color. You may use, if you wish, the style that we used in Puerto Rican actor Joaquin Phoenix. Now, the size of the image can be changed by changing the "px". I wouldn't make the images too big, the image size in the article seem to be fine to me. Tony the Marine (talk) 03:30, 18 June 2008 (UTC)Reply

  • Cyn,

Go to the Marquita Rivera and "click" on the edit tab (like you normally do to edit the page). You will find the following in the infobox: "imagesize". The image size is set at 170px, however if you want to make the image larger, just change it. Most images are posted within the range of 150px to 200px, depending on the size of the original image which was uploaded. Tony the Marine (talk) 22:15, 26 June 2008 (UTC)Reply
