Hi, Eric.

You moved Only with You to Only with You (Beach Boys song), and then put a dab page where the article used to be. That is all good, but when you do that, you should probably go through and change the links that are pointing to where the article used to be and are now pointing to the dab page. I fixed them all this morning, so don't worry about it, but keep it in mind for future moves.

thriller 25 talk

I left a message on that persons user page explaining to them what i did inviting them to put there vote forward again with an argument that supports their vote , it wasnt sneaky or sly, as ive informed the user concerned, they made a vote based on what they thought was to be true , but there interpretation was incorrect making the reasoning for the vote incorrect , i let them know and they are more than welcome to cast the same vote again WITHOUT even giving a reason. well i wasnt doing anything to deliberately win my debate , this has infact brought up a serious issue that will affect the article. Many charts are not specifying if the album is actually thriller 25, they might be on about the original thriller. Help

Could I enlist your help - yet again ? I have recently received two Wiki e-mails which relate to my recent editing work. Whilst I believe what I have done is correct (although Adolf Hitler would probably have claimed the same, in wholly differing circumstances), I think my replies need to point both correspondents to specific Wiki policy. I often struggle to wade through the various Wiki edits to find the relevant article - could you please help frame my replies ? The e-mails are shown below:-

Johnny Johnson and the Bandwagon Hi Derek...New Wiki member here. I just wondered why you have deleted my personal recollections added recently to the Bandwagon entry. I was the bass player with his backing band 'Stone Idol' in 1970 during the UK tour and drew the information from my personal and detailed diary kept at the time. I could have listed every date on the tour but felt the generalisation of "the northern soul circuit" was adequate.

The entry was accurate and neutral so I am just wondering what was wrong about it?...I searched extensively on the internet but there couldn't have been that level of intimate detail unless it had been written by someone who was there. I was also a personal friend of Johnny and the boys during that period.

Incidently I was later bass player with the Leo Sayer Band and am currently working on a Wiki entry for a long time personal friend Frank Farrell who wrote several songs with Gerry during our time in the band. 21stCenturyGreenstuff (talk) 02:27, 17 February 2008 (UTC)

RE Johnny Johnson and the Bandwagon Thank you for the comments Eo and thank you Derek for taking the time to advance my query elsewhere and if this is the definite decision then I will happily bend to it. But as a newby wiki ‘editor’ it still makes me a little sad, really for the encyclopedia and for any students trying to find more information on the subject. The current entry is really no more than a cold list of information that is already available elsewhere. There can be no citable source for the factual information I added now, because nobody else ever wrote it down and to all intents and purposes I am probably the only person left who was actually there.

It leaves us in the crazy situation where I cannot personally add the information to the wiki entry, but if I had time to write a biography of Johnson or even compile on online biog somewhere else on the internet – a third party could then place the information on the wiki entry with a citation reference to my work. Am I alone in seeing this as a bit of a nonsense?

I have enough stories and diary notes to write pages and pages on the Bandwagon full of anecdotal information, much of it highly scurrilous. However, I thought I was quite abstemious and sparing in what I did add. I tried to make it totally neutral and avoided any POV info, while breathing a little life and colour into several wonderful musicians. Without it the reader would have no idea that the 1970 touring band in the UK was only half of the Bandwagon or that they even toured the Northern Soul Circuit at all. Nor would there be any steer as to how Johnson met or became associated with McCauley et al. Hello from Japan. I appreciate your efforts in improving the music articles here at Wikipedia. While I think your edits are very useful for the most part, I do not understand why you keep removing the year links from artist discographies. Not that I think those links are really important, but I think they may help the readers associate the artist timelines with happenings outside those particular articles.

There should be no harm leaving them as they are (unless they are mislinked), and devoting your time in removing them seems to be unconstructive. I personally have spent some time adding those links in the past, so I am interested in knowing the reasons why they have to be removed.

You mention Wikipedia:Manual of Style as your reasons for such edits, but I couldn't find any information that suggest editors to edit the articles that way.

If it is indeed Wikipedia policies that year links should not be used that way, my apologies. If that is the case, please kindly point me to the exact statement where it is said so. Thanks in advance. --Sumori (talk) 03:38, 18 February 2008 (UTC)

Keyshia Cole dicography RE

The Austrian chart information is not important at all because Austria is a very, very small market, when it comes to music. Any way keyshia only managed to have one chart position in Austria. Thriller 25

surely it has to be corrct , seeming as the original album was the best selling album of 1983 and 1984 , the original thriller album was in the charts for well over 2 years was was also older than 18 months. Beat It and Beat It 2008

Hey today I added information on "Beat It 2008" to the original "Beat it" article (as we have been doing with all the singles from thriller 25). As you can see Beat It has all the info on the 2008 release. unfortunately though some1 made a new article Beat It 2008 . This needs to be deleted as it goes against the consensus of the singles from thriller 25. I havent done anything because I dont know how I believe ALL the info at Beat It 2008 is already on Beat It so its not a case of merger but rather deletion. Thriller 25 merge issue

With 12 people voting for a merge, 7 against (I know it said 13/6, I'd listed someone incorrectly - I also deleted one you'd put in that was actually me on my IP address since I forgot to log in), it's clear the debate's leaning towards a merge. But it's not getting very far, since it's the sort of debate where there's never gonna be evidence to decide what will happen. Being an admin, do you have any ideas as to where we can go with this? The guy is an editing machine and a living guide to Michael Jackson, I just steer him in the right direction since he's not good at being encyclopaedic. THRILLER MASTERPIECE

Here is a link to a masterpiece in wiki art that me and elfoid have been working on VERY hard. It is the preposed merger of THRILLER and THRILLER 25 as those seperate articles stand right now. Obviously ill keep updating it as im updating the seperate articles. I prepose to change my vote in 3 weeks time to merger providing their are no sudden events surrounding Jackson that drastically affect the article. Sorry, I changed part of the lead of Michael Jackson to reflect that in polite Australian English, he is often, even reverently, referred to as Jacko, much more than MJ or the King of Pop. I cited it with http://www.thewest.com.au/aapstory.aspx?StoryName=464813 and User talk:Realist2 disagreed with it. In fact, when we celebrate the 25th anniversary year at Metropolis Fremantle, the nightclub with the biggest Saturday night for several megameters in any direction, we always refer to him as Jacko. It is a good faith edit that now has an NPOV source that further carries superlative weight in Western Australia. Please, read User talk:Thecurran#Your edits on michael jackson, that short source article, and User talk:Realist2#re: Jacko to get the whole story so far before replying. I'd prefer it if you replied on User talk:Realist2#re: Jacko, where that user has directed the conversation. User:Realist2, a counter-argument along the same lines might read "it's only derogatory in GB" but just as phrases like "it's only Australia" on their own seem slightly anti-Australian, I don't want to come off as anti-British, so I'll try to explain what I mean. Considering the anti-Americanism suggested in the section just before our wikt:convo on your talk page though, it's a little hard for me to WP:AGF.

wikt:BTW, Chile is far more a part of the Hispanosphere than the Anglosphere, which Australia is firmly part of and, after all, this is the Anglospheric Wikipedia.

Either way, if you wish to point out that AU has only about a third of the population of GB, please remember that GB, in turn, has only about a fifth of the population of the US. So if Australian English positive usage is insignificant in GB @ AU:GB::1:3, then British English negative usage is less significant in the US @ GB:US::1:5.

WP:NPOV is important and I'm glad you WP:BBd and fixed what you saw as an error. You also sought an admin immediately, which isn't my style, but hey; each to their own. Hard Candy (Madonna album)

Hi. I was going through unfree images with disputed rationales and noticed Image:Madonna Hard Candy cover.jpg. It was up for deletion because it was orphaned. Normally, I skip such images, but then I noticed it was by Madonna. Since albums by famous artists generally have their own articles, I was wondering why this image was orphaned. I found the appropriate article, added the image, and returned to the image page to write a valid rationale. When I was later looking through my contributions, I noticed my edit to Hard Candy (Madonna album) was no longer top, and so I checked the history to see what the subsequent edits might have been. I saw that you had removed the image, stating "removing image with no source or fair use rationale per WP:FU". Because the image already had a rationale, I re-added it, I hope you don't mind.
I think you should give people three minutes to write a rationale, or you could write it yourself (an album cover used in the main infobox is a pretty clear cut case). I mean, what bothers me is that if I hadn't checked back BetaCommandBot would have soon re-tagged the image as orphan and an administrator would delete it. The album article would be without the cover art. That's not exactly good for the encyclopedia, so please just give people several minutes before you remove an image, or write a rationale yourself. I can't provide source information as the image was uploaded by User:Digital1. I just stumbled upon it when I was looking through fair use images with invalid rationales. Seeing that there was an article about the album, I added it there, and then wrote a fair use rationale. "the cover art can or could be obtained from Warner Bros." is a sentence that {{album cover fur}} automatically adds when no source is specified, because the album art can always be obtained from the label.
While you might be correct that this cover art might be fake or fan made, the uploader of the image (User:Digital1) doesn't appear to be a single purpose account, especially since it was created in November 2005, and is still active from time to time. I have therefore decided to assume good faith, left the image in the article and posted a message at his talk page enquiring about the source of the image. If he doesn't respond, then I agree that the image should be removed and then deleted.

Merger is ready

here the merger is ready. The only issue of debate with it is the long list of chart positions for Thriller 25. Me and elfoid will discuss this list and decide whats best to do with it shortly. If you could split it into 2 that would be great, the reissue has been so successful it seems a shame to remove smaller countries especially as they are the ones that have made it sell so well. Spliting it in 2 would really make it look smaller which would help tons. Your minor edits are fine.
