River Adda (Wales) edit

You have incorrectly moved this article from River Adda (Wales) to Afon Adda or 'River Adda' (Wales). Per Wikipedia policy, article titles reflect the common English name of a subject (in this case, River Adda). In the same way that we have an article titled Moscow, even though the people in Russia call the city Москва (Moskva). We can certainly entertain a redirect from Afon Adda to River Adda (Wales), but that should not be the article's title on the English Wikipedia. I have entered a request at WP:Requested moves to move the page back to its proper title. WikiDan61ChatMe!ReadMe!! 13:27, 11 December 2017 (UTC)Reply

By your metric, why not rename both words and list it as 'Adam's River'? A name no one uses, much like your logic of 'River Adda'. Welsh place names and our culture are being ruined by this sort of English biased cultural vandalism, so your example, used to justify your rational, is frankly... nonsense! December 2017 edit

Welcome to Wikipedia. Although everyone is welcome to contribute constructively to the encyclopedia, articles should not be moved, as you did to River Adda (Wales), without good reason. They need to have a name that is both accurate and intuitive. Wikipedia has some guidelines in place to help with this. Generally, a page should only be moved to a new title if the current name doesn't follow these guidelines. Also, if a page move is being discussed, consensus needs to be reached before anybody moves the page. Take a look at the welcome page to learn more about contributing to this encyclopedia. Thank you. -- AlexTW 13:36, 11 December 2017 (UTC)Reply

Mate, the River is Called 'Afon Adda. It is not called 'River Adda', although it may be colloqually referred to as that by some English Speakers - but not most. The Wikipedia entry is wrong - Im new at this editing lark, so forgive me if I've not followed proper process - but.... If you want to make the Wiki Entries correct - please realise my edit was correct and made in good faith. If that gets me a block - well, clearly, Wikipedia in that case would have no intrest in the truth... Which I'd like to think is not the case - So lets not be anal about this and lets make the entry correct! (as I had corrected it) Thanks!
It's been contested by another editor other than me, so you need to file a Requested Move and gain a consensus to move it again. Cheers. -- AlexTW 23:54, 11 December 2017 (UTC)Reply
