Ashanti Empire

I was surprised to learn from the Ashanti Empire article that the Ashanti Kingdom was independent until 1957, or at least regained independence in 1935. I am afraid that Akan nationalists try to falsify their history again. Unfortunately I don't have the time to go into this now, like I did with MarkMysoe two years ago. Could you take action?
