And particularly welcome to a fellow vandalism reverter. However, can I suggest that you look into some of the more sophisticated tools for doing it, such as WP:POP or even WP:AVT? rollback

Hello Ejosse1.
I have noticed that you revert a lot of vandalism. Have you heard of rollback before? It allows a user to revert vandalism much faster than by undo-ing it. I think you should ask for it. I am not an admin, or I would give it to you myself. I wrote this just to let you know about the existence of rollback because before someone randomly gave it to me, I did not know it existed. If you ask for it, you should have no problem getting it, as you clearly have an excellent grasp of what constitutes vandalism. Good luck, and may the vandals fail... Incidentally, if you're keen to keep your assessing skills honed, we are currently very short of reviewers for Milhist A-Class reviews. Broadly, the five A-Class criteria are just beefed up versions of the B-Class criteria and anyone with B-Class experience should have no trouble with them. Also, as a reminder, in the wide-ranging A-Class review, it is not necessary to comment on all five criteria: if you're short of time, you can simply focus on the aspects that interest you most (sources, comprehensiveness, prose, graphic content or whatever). You can track which articles are up for A-Class using this template: {{WPMILHIST A-Class Review alerts}}

Can you urgently help Milhist please?

We've had a rather large bombshell dropped on us. The Wikipedia editorial team are aiming to release a version of Wikipedia on CD/DVD in time for the end of year holiday season. They've provided us with a list of 1333 Milhist articles they intend including.

The problem is that the quality of these articles varies considerably.

We've put together review page listing all the articles, in twenty-five article worklists. I'm hoping that 15-20 trusted editors can work through the list, weedying out problem articles and identifying suitable versions for release. The work is as far away from a tagging and assessing drive as you can imagine though, for convenience and ease of use, we've closely followed the traditional Milhist drive format.

This is, at the moment, an invitation-only review. The reason is that time is short and we can't afford too many mistakes. I'm only contacting experienced editors who performed very well indeed in the last two Milhist drives. I guess that working through a worklist of twenty-five articles will take between one and three hours to do. We're aiming to get the preliminary work done by next Sunday, so it's urgent too.

Milhist W0.7: update

Thank you very much for your help in our review of the W0.7-nominated articles, which has proved to be a very worthwhile exercise. As the number of sub-standard articles found was much higher than anticipated, the coordinators are currently considering how best to follow this up, given the project's limited resources and the short time span – under three weeks - for making improvements. The review has been a very worthwhile exercise and will lead to a major quality improvement initiative in the very near future. In the meantime, if you found any articles that you feel you could easily fix, I'd be very grateful if you invested a little time doing so. Please also feel free to nominate any articles for inclusion which you feel were overlooked. Robert S. Beightler Discussion

You've edited some things on Robert S. Beightler. I hope this is the appropriate communication channel, I'm new here. I started the article and would like to get it right as much as possible. All information has come from biographies on him, articles, government sources, historical sources, and other verifiable, legit sources. I apologize if I mistook him for a General of the U.S. Army, I was relying on the following information from the following sources:

"The 37th Infantry Division was a unit of the United States Army in World War I and World War II." [Wiki Source]

"Following World War Two, Robert S. Beightler was one of only 2 National Guard Generals to be commissioned in the regular Army...tenure as commander of the Army's 37th Division during World War Two. Minuteman: The Military Career of General Robert S. Beightler, p. 291. [Google Book Source]

"The 5th Service Command was located in Columbus, Ohio, and the Command was responsible for the states of Indiana, Kentucky, Ohio and West Virginia." [Pentagon]

"United States Army Ryukyu Islands (USARYIS) was initially organized on 31 July 1945 as the Army Service Command I, which was formed by the integration of the Island Command Okinawa and the Island Command Ie Shima." [Army]

While there is no doubt that Beightler was a general in the Army of the United States, he was not a General of the Army of the United States, which is a specific rank, often called a "five-star" general. There have only been a limited number of men who have held that rank (see the Wikipedia article to see who they were).
Minuteman looks to be a useful source, but not enough of it is available online for me to tell definitively what his highest rank was. However, a division commander is typically a major general, and that is the rank shown on the cemetery marker in the photo in the article, so I'm assuming that's the rank at which he retired.

When he was commissioned by the Army, would he have lost his rank as General? What rank do you get when the Army commissions you and you're already a General somewhere else? It says he was the commander of the 5th Service Command, and in the Far East of Army operations. Would that have been Commanding General? The 37th was also mobilized as an Army unit in WW2 in which Beightler led it.

Beightler is slightly unique, having been the only NG General to command his troops through World War 2. Your edit is fine with me, since it appears you know more about the subject than I. I figured from what I read he was a General in the Army. Thanks for taking the time on the article. I've made more edits today to conform with the suggestions made.

Arnold Expedition

You recently filled in the marks on the milhist banner for Arnold Expedition, but didn't actually assign a class (so that your rating details were visible). But that's not why I'm here. :)

Background: the article was clipped from Invasion of Canada (1775) (a milhist B-class article), which I'm working on with the intention of elaborating other parts of that campaign to the point where this merited splitting off. I know this article is not fully cited; the glue pieces I had to write as part of the split are not cited (yet).

But my real question is about coverage and accuracy (and this is why I dislike checkmark reviews like this): what's deficient? coverage? accuracy? both? Please elaborate. Thanks! Magic?piano 16:00, 11 December 2008 (UTC)
